Chapter 856: Chapter 721: Fudge Scared Stiff
Kael originally thought he would be taken to No. 12 Grimmauld Place, but unexpectedly, Fawkes brought him to the second floor of the Ministry of Magic, the Law Enforcement Department.
Before Kael arrived, there were already many people here, and all were familiar faces.
Chris, Mr. Weasley, Fred, George, Auror Kingsley, Tonks...
And of course, Dumbledore.
By the time Kael arrived, Dumbledore was bending over, a warm yellow light casting flashes on the walls on both sides of the corridor.
"Fawkes is back!" someone exclaimed.
Then everyone turned their heads.
"Kael?" Fred rubbed his eyes, thinking he was seeing things.
"Why you, and not a Healer from St Mungo’s?"
No one answered his question, as everyone subconsciously made way, and Kael saw the situation in front of him clearly.
The floor was covered in blood, with an eerie purple hue.
Amelia Bones from the Law Enforcement Department was lying in the pool of blood, still faintly breathing.
Dumbledore had his wand pressed against her, and the warm light Kael saw earlier was emanating from its tip.
In an instant, Kael understood why Fawkes had brought him here.
"Here?" Kael asked directly, ignoring the dizziness.
"It’s urgent, she can’t be moved," Dumbledore quickly replied. "You need to hurry, Fudge is already on the seventh floor."
"Okay." Kael nodded and immediately opened the box.
"Wait... wait..." came a weak voice.
It was Amelia, trying hard to open her eyes, but even that simple action seemed to drain all her strength.
"Death Eaters... attack... Ministry of Magic..." Amelia said with pauses, "Tell the Aurors... fight... don’t... be alone..."
She seemed to be trying to explain something, but her voice was getting weaker.
"Hurry!" Dumbledore urged. "Mr. Weasley, Fudge is almost here..."
Although Dumbledore spoke vaguely, Fred and George immediately understood his meaning and nodded, quickly running toward the corner of the hallway.
Kael’s box was already open. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom
"Turn around!" Chris said sternly.
Out of trust, everyone immediately turned their heads toward the wall, including Chris, although he waved his wand to create a mirror on the ceiling as he turned.
"...Oh, Minister, you’re here!"
"It’s terrifying, you must be prepared... really, I can’t bear to look."
Fred and George’s voices echoed not far away.
"By Merlin, what on earth happened here!" Fudge’s voice was filled with undisguised panic.
"I can’t bear to recall, you’ll see for yourself."
"Careful, Minister, watch your step, don’t fall."
"Move aside, you two, don’t block the way." This was Scrimgeour.
He quickened his pace and appeared at the end of the corridor, followed by Fudge’s stomach.
Fred and George were following at the end.
At this moment, they were flanking Fudge, stretching out their hands as if afraid he might fall if he ran too fast, a gesture that looked overly obsequious.
"Oh!" When Fudge saw clearly what was happening in the corridor, he suddenly clutched his chest. "Is that Amelia?"
"I think so," Scrimgeour said soberly, striding forward.
"She’s been petrified."
Scrimgeour took out his wand, tapped Amelia’s gray-white skin, and softly said, "Ennervate..."
"Curse Reversal!"
"Reveal at once!" ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
He tried several spells in succession, but Amelia Bones showed no signs of recovery.
"Very advanced Dark Magic," Scrimgeour glanced at the bloodstains on the floor, "but also fortunate; the petrification saved her life."
He looked seriously at Kingsley and Tonks in the crowd, asking, "Tell me, what exactly happened here?"
"Death Eaters’ attack," Kingsley said, "just ten minutes ago, inside the Ministry of Magic."
"They were originally aiming for the first floor, but in the elevator, Ms. Bones saw through their disguises, so the Death Eaters changed their target."
Upon hearing that the Death Eaters’ target was the first floor, Fudge shuddered beside him.
The first floor, where the Minister’s office was!
The Death Eaters’ target was him, the Minister!
In a flash, Fudge felt a chill all over his body; if Amelia hadn’t been on the same elevator by chance, the one lying on the ground might have been him.
Fudge’s legs felt weak, and he tried to move his body to lean against the wall.
However, no one around noticed the Minister’s poor state.
After hearing the two Aurors’ explanation, Scrimgeour was furious.
"What about you, what were you doing! Why when such a big incident happened, not a single Auror showed up."
"I don’t want to shirk responsibility," Kingsley shook his head. "We came as soon as we heard the sounds of battle, but by then, the Death Eaters had already escaped."
"That’s impossible," Scrimgeour said, "Apparition is restricted within the Ministry of Magic; how could they escape!"
"Not Apparition, a Portkey," Kingsley said solemnly. "We saw it with our own eyes, the Death Eaters gathered around a walking stick and disappeared collectively."
"Could there have been more than one Death Eater?" Fudge asked shakily.
However, Scrimgeour wasn’t very surprised.
