Chapter 808: Chapter 808 Party

Bella teased, her tone mysterious. "You’ll see when we get back to the house."

Jason begged, his voice whining. "Bella, tell me now."

Bella shook her head, her smile deepening. "Nope."

Jason pleaded. "Please?"

Bella laughed softly. "Nope."

Jason pouted, but he was grinning. "You’re evil."

Bella shrugged, her eyes twinkling.

Leo walked a few steps behind, his hands in his pockets, his gray eyes fixed on the ground. He didn’t look at Jay or Jace. He didn’t look at anyone. His jaw was tight, his shoulders tense.

Jay glanced at him, then looked away, guilt flickering across his face.

Jace kept his eyes forward, his jaw tight, his hands clenched at his sides.

They reached the cars.

Dominique asked, looking around. "Same arrangement?"

Bella nodded, her voice urgent. "Yes. But let’s hurry. We have a party to get to."

Jason’s ears perked up. "A party? There’s a party?"

Bella smiled mysteriously. "There’s a party."

Jason pressed, his voice eager. "Bella, what did you do?"

Bella just smiled, her eyes gleaming with mischief.

Jason sat in the back seat, his trophy beside him, his check still in his pocket. He kept looking out the window, the city lights blurring past.

His phone rang. He glanced at the screen and grinned.

Jason answered, his voice bright. "Ze~ke!"

Zeke’s voice came through the speaker, warm and genuine. "Jas, congratulations! I heard you won Cedar International. That’s huge."

Jason laughed, his voice filled with joy. "Thanks, man. I still can’t believe it."

Zeke said, his tone sincere. "I can. You’ve been working for this for years. You deserve it."

Jason asked, his voice curious but careful. "Speaking of working—how’s everything on your end? I heard you had some... family stuff."

Zeke was quiet for a moment. "It’s complicated. But I’m handling it."

Jason pressed gently. "Zeke—"

Zeke interrupted, his voice firm but kind. "I’ll tell you when I see you. Just enjoy your win tonight. You’ve earned it."

Jason smiled, his voice warm. "Thanks, Zeke."

Zeke replied, his tone soft. "Anytime."

They reached the house.

The house was warm and golden, the lights spilling out onto the porch. Geoffrey had left a note on the door: The party is in the back garden. Enjoy.

Jason walked through the house and pushed open the back door.

The garden was transformed. String lights hung across the patio, casting a soft, warm glow over the tables and chairs. A small fire pit crackled in the center, surrounded by comfortable seating. There was a table with food, finger sandwiches, pastries, fruit, and a cooler filled with drinks. A speaker played soft music, the kind that made you want to sway.

Jason hugged Bella tightly, his voice filled with gratitude. "Thanks Bellaaaaaaa!"

Bella patted his head, her voice soft. "I didn’t do anything. Mira’s parents and Geoffrey helped me. And..." She paused, glancing at Winter. "Winter helped me order pizza. Let’s enjoy."

Everyone became excited.

Jason opened one of the pizza boxes, his eyes widening. "Wow, so many pizzas!" He tilted his head, studying the pizza with confusion. "But why does it look different?"

He shrugged. "Never mind. I am so hungry! Thanks, Winter, for ordering. I like pizza."

He took a big bite and chewed. His brow furrowed.

He chewed again. His expression became thoughtful.

He swallowed and looked at the pizza in his hand.

Jason said slowly, confusion in his voice. "This tastes weird. Different from usual. It doesn’t taste as good as pizza should."

Other people who had taken bites nodded in agreement.

Dominique said, holding up his slice with a puzzled expression. "Yeah. It’s... off."

Bella frowned, concern in her eyes. "What do you mean?"

Scarlett said, chewing slowly, her voice thoughtful. "It’s not bad. It’s just... not pizza."

Jason voiced his concern, his brow furrowed. "This pizza feels different from usual. It doesn’t taste tasty." freёwebnovel.com

Winter’s face paled.

Leo studied his slice carefully, turning it over in his hands. He examined the top, the crust, the sauce.

Leo said flatly, his voice cutting through the chatter. "There’s no cheese."

Everyone went silent.

His words landed like a bomb.

Scarlett shouted, her voice rising in disbelief. "No cheese? What pizza without cheese?!" freewebnoveℓ.com

Jason turned to Winter, his voice gentle but confused. "Winter, what’s going on?"

Winter looked down at the ground, her hands clasped tightly together.

Winter said quietly, her voice trembling slightly. "The cheese looked gooey and I thought pizza would be better without cheese."

Dominique echoed, his voice strangled. "Better without cheese?"

Winter said, her voice gaining strength. "Yes. Cheese is unhealthy. It has too much fat. It causes digestive issues and—"

She began listing reasons. A long list of reasons. Cholesterol. Saturated fat. Lactose intolerance. Caloric density. The environmental impact of dairy production.

Everyone stared at her with varying degrees of disbelief and horror.

Dominique interrupted, his voice desperate. "Winter. Winter. Stop. Please stop."

Winter stopped.

Scarlett said slowly, as if trying to process a foreign concept. "You ordered pizza without cheese. On purpose."

Winter nodded. "Yes."

Scarlett pressed, her voice incredulous. "Because you think cheese is unhealthy?"

Winter nodded again. "Yes."

Jason opened his mouth. Closed it. Opened it again.

Jason said, his voice soft and forgiving. "Winter, it’s okay. We’ll just eat it anyway. It’s still pizza."

Winter looked at him, her dark eyes uncertain. "You’re not angry?"

Jason shook his head, his tone gentle. "No. It’s just pizza. Who cares? We can add cheese on top or order new ones. It’s not a big deal."

Winter blinked, surprise flickering across her face. "But I ruined the party."

Bella said quickly, her voice reassuring. "You didn’t ruin anything. It’s just pizza. We’ll laugh about this later."

Dominique couldn’t hold it in any longer. He burst out laughing. "No cheese! Winter ordered pizza with no cheese!"

Scarlett joined in, her laughter bright and loud. "Who does that?!"

Winter looked at them, her face unreadable. But something flickered in her eyes, something that might have been embarrassment or relief.

Jason took another bite of the cheeseless pizza.

Jason said, his voice thoughtful. "It’s not bad. It’s just different. I can taste the sauce more clearly."

Dominique stared at him, disbelief in his eyes. "You’re just saying that."

Jason shook his head, his tone sincere. "I’m not. It’s actually not terrible."

Dominique stared at him. "You’re weird."

Jason grinned. "You’re weird."

They started laughing.

The cheeseless pizza was eventually salvaged with cheese from the kitchen.
