Chapter 34: Chapter 34

Fleur returned home with her thoughts still drifting back to the extravagant dinner she had shared with Damien.

The evening had been pleasant, far more pleasant than she had expected.

For a brief moment, her mind wandered to Christian.

She wondered whether he had taken his medication. Whether he had listened to the doctors. Whether he had eaten properly.

The concern surfaced before she could stop it.

Annoyed with herself, Fleur quickly pushed the thoughts aside.

Christian Wayne was hardly helpless.

The Alpha King had an entire pack at his disposal. Doctors monitored him around the clock, warriors guarded his every step, and he even had a fiancée who was supposed to be preparing for their upcoming mating ceremony.

He certainly didn’t need her worrying about him.

Once home, Fleur focused on preparing for the following day.

She packed her luggage while stealing every possible moment with her energetic twins.

The children filled the apartment with laughter, making the heaviness in her chest ease little by little.

Meanwhile, Lea worked beside her, helping reorganize meetings and clearing portions of her schedule to accommodate the unexpected trip. freewebnσvel.cѳm

Since Damien had assured her they would return the following day, Fleur made sure every detail was arranged before she left.

As always, preparation brought peace of mind.

The next morning arrived sooner than expected.

Just as dawn painted the horizon in soft shades of gold and silver, Damien appeared at her doorstep.

The journey to Fontainebleau began in one of his limited-edition Range Rovers.

The drive was comfortable and surprisingly peaceful.

Outside the windows, winter landscapes rolled past in a blur of white.

Inside, the atmosphere remained warm and relaxed.

For nearly an hour, they talked about architecture, travel, and charity projects while the vehicle carried them toward their destination.

When they finally arrived, Fleur found herself momentarily speechless.

The hotel owned by Damien’s family was magnificent.

Its towering architecture blended royal elegance with modern luxury.

Everything from the grand entrance to the crystal chandeliers radiated wealth and prestige.

Even after years of working with affluent clients, Fleur couldn’t help being impressed.

After checking into their respective suites, she returned to her room and began unpacking.

Several minutes later, disaster struck.

"Oh no."

Fleur stared into her suitcase. Then stared again. Her heart sank.

"I don’t have anything suitable for a royal gala."

The realization hit like a physical blow. Because of the short notice, she had packed practical clothing and business attire. Nothing remotely appropriate for an event attended by royalty, nobles, and influential pack leaders.

She groaned. "What am I supposed to wear?"

As if the Moon Goddess herself had heard her complaint, a knock sounded at the door.

Fleur quickly closed the suitcase and went to answer it.

Standing outside was Damien. Beside him stood a sharply dressed man carrying a portfolio. Behind them, several attendants wheeled in racks filled with garment bags.

Fleur blinked. Then blinked again.

Damien smiled. "Problem solved."

The well-dressed man stepped forward.

"Good afternoon, Miss Swann. My name is Lawrence."

Damien gestured toward him.

"Lawrence will be assisting you with everything you’ll need for tonight."

Fleur’s eyes widened. "You didn’t have to do all this."

"Actually, I did." Damien’s smile softened. "I invited you with almost no warning."

He shrugged casually. "Providing what you need is the least I can do."

The sincerity in his voice touched her. Many wealthy men spent fortunes trying to impress people.

Damien’s kindness came naturally. That was what made it meaningful.

"Thank you." The gratitude in her voice was genuine.

Damien inclined his head. "You’re welcome."

For a brief moment, Fleur found herself hoping even more fervently that he would someday find the sister he had spent years searching for.

A good man deserved happiness.

"I have preparations to oversee." Damien glanced toward the hallway. "I’ll see you this evening."

As he turned to leave, he paused. "Oh, and one more thing."

Fleur looked up.

"You have a personal steward assigned to your suite." He grinned. "If you wish to explore Fontainebleau, arrange a private tour, or request anything at all, simply ask."

Fleur laughed softly. "You make it sound like I own the hotel."

"You are my guest." His expression became mock-serious. "Which is practically the same thing."

She shook her head. "Thank you, Damien, but I don’t think I’ll have time to go sightseeing."

Her gaze drifted toward the clothing racks. freewēbnoveℓ.com

"I suspect I’ll be busy preparing for tonight. If you change your mind, let me know."

Then he departed.

The moment the door closed, Lawrence and his team unveiled the collection.

Fleur’s jaw nearly dropped.

Every piece was exclusive. Designer gowns from private collections. Custom creations that most people would never even see, much less wear. The selection looked like something taken directly from a royal wardrobe.

After careful consideration, Fleur chose a striking red gown.

The dress featured an elegant off-shoulder design and a tasteful slit that revealed just enough to be sophisticated without becoming inappropriate.

It was bold. Refined. Powerful. Exactly what she needed.

The stylists brought matching accessories.

After reviewing several options, Fleur selected a delicate diamond necklace and a pair of elegant drop earrings.

The final touch was a pair of nude heels that perfectly complemented the ensemble.

When she slipped into the gown, the luxurious fabric settled against her skin like liquid silk.

The fit was flawless. Every curve was accentuated with effortless elegance.

For the first time in a long while, Fleur looked into the mirror and barely recognized the woman staring back.

Confidence radiated from her reflection. The transformation was remarkable.

After thanking Lawrence and his staff, she moved on to her makeup.

Soft neutral tones highlighted her features. Subtle shimmer brightened her eyes. Mascara lengthened her lashes. A touch of blush added warmth to her complexion.

Finally, she styled her blonde hair into soft cascading waves.

When everything was finished, she stood before the mirror once more.

A smile slowly appeared on her lips.

Perfect.

Time slipped away faster than expected. Another knock sounded at the door.

Fleur crossed the room and opened it. For a moment, she forgot how to breathe.

Damien stood there dressed in a perfectly tailored black tuxedo. The elegant cut emphasized his broad shoulders and regal bearing.

He looked every bit the prince he was. His eyes widened slightly when he saw her.

Then a warm smile touched his lips.

"You look stunning."

Fleur felt her cheeks warm. "So do you."

Damien offered his arm. She gracefully accepted it. Together, they made their way toward the gala.

The event occupied the hotel’s magnificent grand ballroom.

As they walked, Damien glanced toward her. "You seem nervous."

Fleur laughed awkwardly. "A little."

"A little?"

She sighed. "I’ve never attended a royal gala before."

Damien chuckled. "Then tonight will be quite memorable."

That was exactly what worried her. Fortunately, his calm presence eased some of her anxiety.

"You don’t have to worry." His voice was reassuring. "I’ll be beside you."

Fleur nodded. Then another thought occurred to her.

"What about your mother?"

"She should arrive soon." Damien glanced toward the entrance. "The snowfall delayed her convoy."

"The roads were blocked?"

"For several hours." His expression remained unconcerned. "She’s on her way now."

That eased Fleur’s worries somewhat.

As they entered the ballroom, she immediately understood why people spoke so highly of the event.

Crystal chandeliers illuminated the vast hall like a field of stars.

Nobles, aristocrats, influential Alphas, and distinguished guests mingled throughout the room.

Elegant music drifted through the air. Laughter blended with conversation. The entire atmosphere felt enchanting.

Fleur instinctively tightened her grip on Damien’s arm.

He noticed immediately. Leaning closer, he whispered reassuringly, "You’ll be fine."

His hand briefly covered hers. The simple gesture steadied her nerves.

With renewed confidence, Fleur stepped farther into the grand ballroom, completely unaware that before the night was over, her world would change once again.
