Chapter 48: Chapter 48: Wedding

With a burst of firecrackers, Wyatt Shaw’s bridal procession arrived.

Yvonne Sutton sat on the bridal bed, veiled and holding a bouquet of flowers, her heart thumping along with the firecrackers.

A month ago, she had made an impulsive decision, telling a complete stranger, "I agree to marry you."

A month later, with Wyatt Shaw no longer a stranger, she was grateful for that impulsive decision at this very moment.

The sounds of revelry grew outside the door. Claire Lawrence and Mina Adler, the bridesmaids, were teasing the groom. Having gotten their red envelopes, the two were now demanding a talent performance from Wyatt Shaw.

’What talent could Wyatt possibly have?’ Yvonne Sutton wondered. Just then, the sound of a piano came from outside the door.

The lively commotion was replaced by a gentle, cheerful piano melody that flowed into her heart like whispered words of love.

The door swung open, and Claire Lawrence pulled her out into the hallway. Sunlight streamed in, illuminating him as he sat before a piano that had long been covered in dust, playing while looking at her with deep affection.

Dressed in a suit and bow tie, he was like a prince watching her come forward.

She walked toward him, step by step, under the watchful, blessing-filled eyes of everyone present, until she was right beside him.

When the piece concluded, he rose and came before her. He knelt on one knee, took her hand, and gently kissed it.

"Yvonne, thank you for being willing to marry me."

Yvonne Sutton blushed and tugged on his arm, urging him to get up.

Wyatt Shaw stood, and the two of them were bathed in sunlight, gazing deeply into each other’s eyes.

"Wow, Yvonne is gorgeous, and the groom is so handsome!" Mina Adler couldn’t help but exclaim.

Claire Lawrence, looking as if she were in a daze, said, "So Yvonne’s groom really is the Rhodes Group’s Crown Prince?"

She had actually found out yesterday and had been shocked then, but seeing him in person, she was still stunned. Because this Crown Prince wasn’t just rich; he was also breathtakingly handsome.

"Wyatt Shaw, our Yvonne is a good girl. You must treat her well from now on." Her aunt, not one for flowery speeches, could only repeat her pleas for Wyatt Shaw to treat Yvonne Sutton well.

"If you dare bully our Yvonne, we’ll never let you hear the end of it!" her uncle added.

Wyatt Shaw assured them that no matter what happened in the future, he would treat Yvonne Sutton well and never let anyone hurt her.

Yvonne Sutton turned to hug her aunt and uncle. "Don’t worry, I’ll live a happy life."

"Good girl. Remember, your aunt and uncle are always here for you. Don’t let yourself be mistreated."

"I know."

Silas Rhodes came forward and called out to Yvonne Sutton, "Auntie, seeing as we’re family now, do you think you could change my contact name from ’Husky’? We can’t have a whole litter of dogs in the family, can we?"

Yvonne Sutton had been moved to the verge of tears, but Silas Rhodes’s comment made her laugh instead.

Wyatt Shaw was Silas Rhodes’s youngest uncle, so now she was his aunt. ’How surreal,’ she thought. freewebnøvel.coɱ

Outside Cloudsea Castle, luxury cars filled the parking lots. The who’s who of society had gathered here today.

At the castle entrance, both the Rhodes Group and the Reed Group had set up reception areas. Mrs. Reed spotted the wife of a CEO she was friendly with and hurried over to greet her, only to see the woman head toward the Rhodes Family’s reception.

Mrs. Reed retreated resentfully and complained to Mr. Reed, "We never should have chosen today for the wedding. Just look how lively their side is, while ours is completely dead."

Mr. Reed’s face was dark. "This wedding was supposed to be an opportunity for us to network, but all the connections ran off to the other side." freёwebnoѵel.com

Just then, Vincent Reed walked over, intending to greet the guests with his parents.

"You’re just so disobedient. I told you we should run a test on that child in Wendy’s womb, but you just wouldn’t listen..."

"Enough!" Vincent Reed cut Mrs. Reed off with a frown. "Today is my wedding. Must you bring up such unpleasant topics?"

Mrs. Reed pursed her lips but still muttered, "The Reed Family doesn’t play the fool for anyone."

Vincent Reed was extremely agitated, his mind filled with the image of Yvonne Sutton in a wedding dress he had seen when leaving earlier.

She was actually getting married, and on this very day. She had said she would, but at the time, he had just thought it was a ploy to make him stay.

’Did she get married just to make me regret it?’

"By the way, which family’s daughter is the Rhodes Family marrying? How is it that we haven’t heard a whisper about it?" Mrs. Reed asked Mr. Reed.

"Doesn’t seem to be a socialite." Mr. Reed took out the wedding invitation from the Rhodes Family. "The bride’s name is Yvonne Sutton."

"Yvonne Sutton?" Mrs. Reed exclaimed. "Is that just a coincidence?"

Just then, Vincent Reed snatched the invitation from his father’s hand. When he saw that the bride’s name was indeed ’Yvonne Sutton,’ a wave of panic washed over him.

"It’s definitely not her. Would the Rhodes Group marry someone with no status and no backing? She’s not even worthy to carry the shoes of the Rhodes Group’s Crown Prince, let alone be the bride. If she’s the bride, it would be the joke of the century."

Just as Mrs. Reed said this, the Rhodes Group’s bridal car arrived.

The wedding car stopped at the entrance, and Wyatt Shaw stepped out first.

Scores of reporters were waiting outside, and all the spotlights were trained on him. He certainly had the charisma to command all eyes. He adjusted his bow tie and, with a smile that could charm the world, walked step-by-step to the other side of the car. He opened the door, bent down, and reached for his bride’s hand.

As the veiled bride stepped out of the car, the camera flashes strobed even faster, as if he had given her all the stars in the sky.

Yvonne Sutton looked up at Wyatt Shaw before following him into the castle. It was like a prince and princess from a fairy tale, stepping into their story together.

Just then, Vincent Reed suddenly rushed out, blocking their path.

He stared at Yvonne Sutton in disbelief, shaking his head.

"It can’t be you... It can’t be you..."

Wyatt Shaw moved sideways, shielding Yvonne Sutton behind him.

"Vincent Reed, isn’t it a bit rude to stare at my wife like that?"

At those words, Vincent Reed’s gaze snapped to Wyatt Shaw.

"You... Why did you marry her? Are you doing this deliberately to humiliate me? You..."

"Hah. Vincent Reed, you think too highly of yourself."

"Ever since we were kids, you’ve always had it in for me. Even with marriage... you..."

Wyatt Shaw didn’t wait for Vincent Reed to finish before throwing a punch.

The crowd instantly erupted in gasps. At the same time, the reporters outside surged forward, and security immediately sprang into action.

Vincent Reed’s own anger flared, and he clenched his fist to retaliate. Just then, Mr. Reed rushed over and roared at him, "Have you lost your mind? Apologize to Wyatt Shaw this instant!"

Vincent Reed’s eyes were red as he glared venomously at Wyatt Shaw.

Just then, Joshua Hale and Leo Flynn hurried over. They grabbed Vincent Reed by each arm and started dragging him back.

"Don’t ruin your own wedding, and don’t ruin Yvonne Sutton’s!"

"You’re marrying Wendy Winters, and Yvonne Sutton is marrying Wyatt Shaw. There’s nothing wrong with that, so stop acting crazy!"

Vincent Reed stopped looking at Wyatt Shaw and turned his gaze to Yvonne Sutton, who stood behind him.

She, in turn, looked back at him, her eyes filled with cold disgust.

In an instant, he seemed to lose all his strength and collapsed backward onto the ground. A collective gasp rippled through the guests and the media.

And at that very moment, Wendy Winters came running over like a madwoman, stopping right in front of Yvonne Sutton.

"No, not you! How could it be you! By what right do you get to marry better than me, Yvonne Sutton!"
