Chapter 86: Chapter 86 Morning Clash

Sylvia’s POV

I sat on the edge of the bed, arms crossed tight, doing everything I could not to look at Caesar. His gaze was like a furnace—hot, unrelenting, and way too close to cracking my composure.

Inside me, my wolf was howling.

She hated this—hated the silence, the uncertainty.

“You seriously don’t get what I’m talking about?” I snapped, my voice sharper than I meant it to be, but screw it—I was pissed. “She’s literally living in your house, Caesar. I’m not imagining things. You brought her in, and now you’re pretending it’s no big deal?”

Men. Always acting dumb when it’s convenient.

Then I saw it—that flicker of realization in his eyes, the moment the puzzle clicked into place. Helena. He finally got it.

I expected him to look guilty. Or at least flustered.

Instead, the exhaustion dragging down his features lifted, like I’d just handed him a reason to come back to life.

His eyes lit up with this intense, burning focus that made my breath stutter.

“Sivi,” he said, voice low and gravelly. “You really think I’d bring another woman here because I had feelings for her?”

I blinked, caught off guard. My jaw tightened, but my chest ached in spite of myself.

“Well, you’re not exactly winning Mate of the Year,” I muttered.

He stepped closer, slow and deliberate, like I was something wild he didn’t want to spook.

“Do you still not know who my moon is?” he asked, voice dropping another octave.

That stopped me cold.

I looked up, straight into those storm-gray eyes. They weren’t teasing. They weren’t smug.

What I saw there—whatever it was—was so raw and real it made my throat close up.

“Should I?” I asked, hating the way my voice wobbled like I was twelve again and not the future Alpha of the damn Frostfang Pack.

He didn’t answer with words.

He just pulled me into his chest, wrapped an arm around me like I belonged there, and leaned in until our foreheads touched.

It was the kind of gesture that bypassed logic and went straight to the soul—intimate, grounding, terrifying.

“My Silly Sivi,” he murmured, smiling just enough to make my stomach flip. “You’re so damn cute when you’re mad.”

I froze. Cute?Excuse me?

“I’m not cute,” I snapped. “I’m dangerous. I’ve broken ribs in training and—”

“Still cute,” he said, running a hand over my hair.

I glared at him, but he just looked tired.

Not fake-tired, but bone-deep, haven’t-slept-in-days exhausted.

I’d only been gone one day, and he looked like he’d been through a war.

Moon Goddess, for someone with Alpha-level power, he really sucked at self-care.

I sighed. “You need to rest.”

“So do you,” he countered, already pulling me down with him as he lay back.

I had every intention of slipping away once he fell asleep.

I wasn’t that easy to pacify.

But his warmth wrapped around me like a security blanket I hadn’t realized I missed.

And before I could convince myself to leave, my eyes were already drifting shut.

His heartbeat was steady under my ear.

Our bodies fit together like they were designed that way—like fate had used a blueprint just for us.

And for that one moment, everything else faded.

——

The next morning, Helena’s face was priceless when Caesar and I emerged from the bedroom together.

The shock in her eyes was so transparent it was almost comical.

"Morning," I said cheerfully. "What’s with the gaping mouth?"

Her composure cracked for just a moment before she hastily recovered, casting a panicked glance at Caesar, who was watching her with unusual intensity.

"Sylvia," she stammered, forcing a smile, "I’m just surprised to see you. It’s been a couple days... I thought maybe you were too angry to come back..."

Caesar’s eyes turned glacial.

Helena caught his warning glance but seemed undeterred.

Caesar tensed beside me, clearly preparing damage control, but before he could speak, I laughed—a genuine, light sound that surprised even me.

"How sweet of you to worry about my feelings, Helena," I said with a smile that didn’t quite reach my eyes. "I appreciate the concern. Now, shall we have breakfast? I have matters to attend to at the company later."

With that, I walked toward the kitchen, my head held high.

After yesterday’s revelations, I’d reached an important conclusion: whether Helena was Caesar’s white moonlight or not no longer mattered.

I was his mate—his legal wife—and that was what counted.

Even if I was an obstacle in her path to him, what could she do? freewebnovёl.ƈom

As I walked past Helena, my chin lifted just slightly, just enough to assert dominance without saying a word.

The flicker of disbelief in her eyes was everything I needed to see.

Her face twisted—not in anger, not yet—but in the stunned realization that her performance had failed. She looked like a stage actress whose spotlight had been cut mid-scene.

Caesar, ever in sync with me, didn’t even glance her way.

He fell into step beside me, his hand settling lightly at the small of my back as we moved into the kitchen together. His silent support said more than a dozen words could.

Behind us, Helena stood frozen for a beat.

“Oh! Caesar, I just remembered—I have something urgent to handle,” she called after us, her voice sugar-sweet but sharp around the edges.

Neither of us turned around.

“You two enjoy your meal,” she added quickly, then spun on her heel and practically fled, heels clicking just a little too fast against the hardwood.

She didn’t even wait for a response.

That alone told me everything I needed to know—she was rattled.

The jealousy she’d worked so hard to bury was bubbling to the surface.

Caesar and I exchanged glances as she departed, both of us shaking our heads slightly.

"Aren’t you going to check on your little childhood sweetheart?" I teased as we sat down to eat.

Caesar took the seat beside me, a low chuckle escaping his throat. "What’s this? Is Luna Conrad actually jealous?"

"Hardly," I scoffed, fighting the smile threatening to break through my cool facade. "I wouldn’t waste my time on something so trivial."

I pressed my lips together and focused on my breakfast, but Caesar just smiled knowingly.
