Chapter 65: Chapter 65 Invite

Caesar’s POV:

I watched the security feed with growing displeasure as Zane’s smug expression confirmed Dylan’s report. My Beta shifted nervously beside me.

"It appears Alpha Zane is behind the bid tampering," Dylan said. "To use such underhanded tactics against Ms. Sylvia, his former mate... it’s despicable."

My eyes flashed gold at the mention of that worthless wolf’s previous connection to my mate. "You seem to have too much time on your hands, Dylan."

"I... what do you mean, Alpha?"

"Perhaps some border patrol duty would keep you occupied." My voice was casual, but the threat was clear.

Dylan’s face paled. While the borders were secure under my rule, the harsh conditions there were considered a punishment detail. "Alpha, surely there’s room for—"

"Consider it payment for speaking so freely about my mate’s past." I turned away, already planning how to deal with Zane’s interference. No one touched what was mine.

Sylvia’s POV

I felt like I was floating as I made my way back to Frostline Enterprises. The moment I stepped into our corporate headquarters, I could sense the excitement buzzing through the air. News traveled fast in a wolf-run company. By the time I reached my department, everyone was gathered, eyes bright with anticipation.

"There she is!" someone called out, and a round of applause erupted.

Securing this project meant Frostline Enterprises would firmly establish its dominance in Howling Peaks, leaving Thorne Pack in the dust where they belonged. I couldn’t help the satisfied curl of my lips.

The crowd parted suddenly, and my spine straightened instinctively as my mother’s powerful aura filled the room. Alpha Astra Frost rarely left her executive floor, so her presence here spoke volumes.

"Well done, everyone," she announced, her voice carrying the natural authority of an Alpha. "Your department has exceeded expectations. All of you—bonuses doubled!"

As the celebration continued around us, my mother’s eyes found mine, a rare smile playing on her lips. "Sylvia, a moment in my office."

I nodded, curiosity piquing as I followed her powerful stride through the building. Wolves from every department lowered their eyes respectfully as we passed. Not out of fear—my mother wasn’t that kind of leader—but out of genuine respect for her strength.

Once we reached her office, I closed the door behind us, watching as she turned to face me.

"You’ve done exceptionally well," she said, her eyes filled with unmistakable pride. "The Vertex project will take Frostline Enterprises to new heights. I need you to stay vigilant during the follow-up phases."

"Of course," I replied, keeping my voice steady despite the surge of satisfaction I felt. "I understand."

My mother studied me for a moment, and I could feel her approval washing over me in waves. "After this project, I’m planning a business gala. It’s time we announced your position as the Frostfang Pack heir to everyone."

The declaration caught me off guard. "So suddenly?"

"There’s nothing sudden about it," she replied, raising an eyebrow. "You’ve been back with the pack for some time now, and you’ve just secured this major project. The timing is perfect."

She moved closer, her Alpha presence filling the space between us. "I’m also appointing you as General Manager. I haven’t forgotten what I promised you."

My expression softened. After years of hiding my true nature, of being treated as less than I was, my mother was finally acknowledging my rightful place.

"I’ll follow your lead, Mother," I said, my voice firm with newfound confidence.

Alpha Astra placed her hand on my shoulder, her touch firm but supportive. "Don’t put too much pressure on yourself. And for the gala—" her eyes gleamed with something I rarely saw in her—hope, "make sure to bring Caesar with you."

My breath caught. The implications were clear. My mother approved of him—perhaps even saw him as a potential mate for the future Alpha of Frostfang Pack.

"I’ll speak with him," I promised, my heart beating a little faster at the thought of Caesar in formal wear, standing proudly at my side.

"Good. Go handle your business," she said with a dismissive wave. "Just be thorough with the follow-up details. Everything else will fall into place."

I nodded and left her office, my mind already racing with plans and possibilities. The elevator ride down to the lobby felt like floating—I was finally stepping into my birthright after years of pretending to be someone else.

When the doors opened, my heart skipped a beat. Caesar was waiting in the lobby, his tall, powerful frame drawing attention from everyone passing by. He turned as if sensing me, his eyes lighting up when they found mine.

"Congratulations, Sivi," he said as I approached, his deep voice sending delicious shivers down my spine. "I heard about the Vertex contract."

I couldn’t help the smile that spread across my face. "News travels fast."

"When it involves you? Always." His fingers brushed mine as we walked outside, the casual touch sending electricity through my veins.

"My mother is planning a business gala to celebrate the contract," I said, watching his reaction carefully. "She specifically asked me to bring you."

Caesar’s eyebrows rose slightly, amusement dancing in his eyes. "Meeting the Alpha mother already? Should I be nervous?"

I laughed, some of the tension of the day finally breaking. "She already likes you. I think she’s envisioning pack alliances."

"Is that so?" His voice dropped lower, the rumble in his chest unmistakably possessive. "And what are you envisioning, Sylvia?"

The way he said my name made my knees weak. "I’m envisioning you in a suit, behaving yourself at a formal function."

"I always behave," he replied with a wicked grin that suggested otherwise. "So, is that an official invitation?"

"It is," I said, surprising myself with how much I wanted him there—not just for show, but for me. "Will you come?"

"For you? Anywhere." The simple sincerity in his voice made my heart race. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm

We walked toward his car, his hand resting on the small of my back in a gesture that felt both protective and claiming. Suddenly, a thought occurred to me.

"I should probably invite the CEO of Vertex as well," I mused, more to myself than to Caesar. "I’m curious which pack’s Alpha has been running such a powerful company from the shadows."

Something shifted in Caesar’s expression—so quickly I almost missed it. Was that amusement? Knowledge?

"You should definitely extend an invitation," he said, his voice carefully neutral. "Send an email. I have a feeling they’ll accept."

"Really? You sound quite confident."

His lips quirked into that half-smile that always made my heart flip. "Just a hunch."

Back at my apartment, I drafted the formal invitation email to Vertex’s mysterious CEO. When the reply came almost immediately—a simple "I would be honored to attend"—I let out an excited squeal and threw myself into Caesar’s arms. ƒreewebɳovel.com

"They accepted!" I was practically bouncing with excitement. This connection could mean enormous things for both our pack and the company.

Caesar caught me easily, his strong arms wrapping around my waist. "Told you," he murmured, his eyes darkening as they dropped to my lips.

My wolf was practically purring beneath my skin, urging me closer. For once, I didn’t fight it. I leaned in, pressing my lips to his.

The kiss started gentle—a celebration, a question—but quickly blazed into something more. His hands tightened on my waist as he deepened the kiss, and I felt the rumble of satisfaction in his chest as I melted against him.

My fingers tangled in his hair, and for a wild moment, I forgot about pack politics, about Alpha succession, about everything except the feel of Caesar’s lips on mine and the rightness of being in his arms.
