Chapter 54: Chapter 54 Kidnapping
Zane’s POV
I glared at my phone as Leo’s name flashed across the screen. Irritation crawled up my spine like an unwelcome parasite. That incompetent fool. Just seeing his name reminded me of my complete failure to locate Ms. Frost these past weeks.
Since that brief encounter at the reception, she’d vanished like mist—no trail, no scent, nothing. And this idiot Leo was partly to blame.
I swiped to answer, not bothering to mask my contempt. "What do you want, you useless piece of shit?"
"I told you to keep tabs on Sylvia, and what happens? She’s somehow pushed forward the Vertex project right under our noses." My wolf was snarling inside, hackles raised. "Can’t you follow one simple order without screwing it up?"
Leo, the spineless Beta he was, couldn’t even summon the courage to snap back. "Alpha Zane, that’s why I’m calling—to discuss our options."
"This better be good," I growled.
Ever since that humiliating gala incident, I’d been scheming to put Sylvia in her place. Something wasn’t right about that woman—who was backing her? Every scout I’d sent had returned empty-handed. And Leo? He’d managed to get himself fired from the company, further proof of his incompetence.
Leo explained his situation with Sunny, practically whining about his relationship troubles. "Alpha Zane, you have to help me. I may not love the girl, but she’s still my woman. How am I supposed to let this insult slide?"
I felt my lips curl into a smile as an idea formed in my mind—dark, vicious, and perfectly suited to teach Ms. Frost a lesson about pack hierarchy.
"Of course you can’t let it slide," I said, my voice dropping to a dangerous purr.
I outlined my plan, watching Leo’s expression shift from surprise to a sick kind of excitement. His pretense at hesitation was pathetic.
"Alpha Zane, isn’t that going too far?" he asked, his scent betraying his eagerness.
"Too far?" I scoffed. "Your woman was humiliated, and you’re worried about going too far? Besides, Sylvia publicly embarrassed your mate. That means she sees you—and by extension, our pack—as nothing. Is that something you’re willing to accept?"
I could practically see the wheels turning in his simple mind.
"I’ll handle it, Alpha Zane. You’ll have good news soon."
After hanging up, I stared at my phone, doubting Leo’s ability to pull off even this basic task. But it didn’t matter. One way or another, Sylvia Frost would learn what happens when you challenge an Alpha wolf.
Sylvia’s POV
Caesar had texted me hours ago—just one line.
[I’ll be tied up with the Board until late. Don’t wait up.]
No warmth. No "be careful." Not even my name.
I stared at the message far longer than I should have, letting its chill sink into my bones. He didn’t ask if I needed anything. Didn’t care that I was leaving the building alone. Just business. Just board meetings. Just Caesar being Caesar.
I should’ve been used to it by now.
But I wasn’t.
I tucked my phone away with a heavy sigh, pressing the elevator button down to the underground garage. My heels clicked against the polished floors of Frostline, echoing too loud in the emptiness. Behind me, the building still pulsed with power, a fortress of glass and steel. Ahead, shadows crept beyond the elevator doors.
I didn’t even have time to scream.
Pain burst like lightning at the base of my skull. A flash. A jolt. Then—nothing. frёewebηovel.cѳm

When I came to, cold bit at my skin before my eyes even opened. The acrid scent of rust, mold, and stale air filled my lungs. My head throbbed. My wrists burned. I shifted, only to realize I couldn’t move.
I was bound. Ankles to chair legs. Wrists behind my back. A filthy rag stuffed between my lips.
And we were definitely not in Kansas anymore.
The space around me was vast, empty, and hostile—an abandoned warehouse. Broken pallets, rusted tools, flickering overhead lights. This wasn’t just a threat. This was a message.
The moment I regained clarity, I stopped struggling. Instead, I listened. Counted breaths. Tracked movement. The room was quiet, but not empty. I could feel eyes on me.
Someone had gone to the trouble of drugging and transporting me. That took planning. Nerve. Arrogance.
So when Leo stepped from the shadows, I didn’t flinch.
Of course it was him.
"Welcome back, Sylvia," he smirked, voice oily.
I stared him down, unblinking. I wasn’t going to give him what he wanted.
"Still too proud to scream?" he said, crouching in front of me. "You really think you’re untouchable, don’t you?"
I rolled my eyes pointedly toward the gag.
Leo chuckled. "Even tied up, you’re insufferable." freewebnøvel.coɱ
From behind him, another presence emerged—heels clicking with theatrical cruelty.
Sunny.
Perfect.
She stepped into the flickering light like she was making a grand entrance. Her smirk was sharper than her manicured nails.
"Let’s fix that mouth of yours," she said, yanking the gag free with one violent motion.
I spat to the side. The cloth tasted like mildew and salt. My jaw ached. My patience wore thinner by the second.
"If I’d known you missed me this much, Leo, I would’ve sent flowers," I said coolly.
Sunny snorted. "Still cracking jokes. That’ll change."
"You think this is smart?" I asked, voice steel. "Kidnapping me? You think this ends well for you?"
Sunny bent down until her face was inches from mine.
"No one’s coming for you, Sylvia," she whispered. "Your little boyfriend? He’s busy figuring out how to please richer women. You’re alone. And you’ve always been alone."
My wolf growled deep inside me.
Leo tilted his head, watching me. "You really don’t get it, do you?"
I said nothing.
He turned toward the door and snapped his fingers.
The metallic groan of rusted hinges scraped through the warehouse. A group of rogues filed in.
Their eyes met mine. Then roamed.
My blood went cold.
One of them gave a low whistle. "Didn’t know we were getting a bonus tonight."
Another cracked his knuckles. "She’s got fight in her. I like that."
"Back off," I said sharply, voice hoarse but steady.
The tallest of them leaned closer. "Or what, sweetheart? You’ll file a complaint?"
They laughed again, a sound too loud, too close.
Sunny leaned against a crate, inspecting her nails. "Let’s see what happens when that icy little facade of yours finally shatters."
