Chapter 115: Chapter 115 Arrive Suddenly
Sylvia’s POV
The pressure of expanding Frostline Enterprises into international markets was relentless.
I was working fourteen-hour days, sometimes more, juggling time zones and boardroom politics like my life depended on it.
Lately, the board had pushed back harder than usual.
They questioned my projections, doubted my strategy, and I had to fight tooth and nail to keep the vision alive.
It wasn’t just exhausting—it was isolating.
And in that isolation, Caesar and I had become strangers in our own home.
Ever since our tense encounter at Vertex, we hadn’t really spoken.
Not about what happened, not about what it meant.
I knew he regretted the way he’d brushed me off—I could see it in the way he lingered in doorways, in the way his hand would hesitate before reaching for mine.
But the conversation we needed? It never came.
Each night, I retreated to sleep in another bedroom, avoiding any chance of confrontation.
By the time he was up in the mornings, I was already gone—out the door before the sun, buried in meetings, numbers, deadlines.
It became a routine. A quiet, painful one.
Truthfully, the work did need my full attention.
But it also made for a convenient place to hide.
Because facing the widening gap between us? That required a level of vulnerability I didn’t have right now.
Still, my wolf was less willing to play along.
She stirred constantly beneath the surface, restless and uneasy, letting out soft whines in the back of my mind. She missed him.
But I wasn’t ready to deal with that—not yet.
So I did what I always did when things got too close: I kept moving, kept working, and told myself it was just temporary.
Even when part of me feared it wasn’t.
Caesar’s POV
This situation couldn’t continue.
The distance between Sylvia and me was growing wider each day, and the wolf inside me was becoming increasingly agitated.
*Mates needed communication, and these things needed to be said face-to-face.*
I sat in my office, contemplating our situation.
After much deliberation, I decided to go to Frostline Enterprises and find Sylvia.
We needed to clear the air.
The moment I entered the Frostline lobby, the receptionists recognized me immediately.
One of them blushed as she asked, "Good afternoon. Are you here to see Managing Director Frost?"
I gave a curt nod. "Do I need an appointment?"
The receptionist seemed to consider our relationship before shaking her head. "No. Take the elevator to the 66th floor and turn right. The General Manager’s office is at the end of the hall."
I strode toward the elevator, my wolf eager to be reunited with its mate.
It had been too long since we’d properly spoken, and I found myself genuinely missing her presence, her scent, her voice.
When I reached her floor, I headed straight for Sylvia’s office.
Her assistant spotted me approaching and was about to announce my arrival when he caught my threatening gaze.
Wisely, he pretended not to see me and busied himself with paperwork.
Smart man. My wolf approved of the submission, a small flicker of satisfaction rising within me.
I knocked on the office door, and Sylvia’s voice called out, "Come in," clearly assuming it was her assistant or another employee.
Without hesitation, I pushed the door open and stepped inside.
Sylvia’s POV
I was so absorbed in reviewing international market analysis reports that I didn’t even look up when I heard my office door open.
"Whatever it is, just tell me quickly," I said, still scribbling notes in the margins of the document.
When no response came, I frowned slightly, finally raising my head to see who had entered.
My breath caught in my throat when I found myself staring into the penetrating gaze of Caesar Conrad, Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack and my supposed mate.
"What are you doing here?" I asked, my tone sharper than intended as surprise gave way to wariness. freēwebnovel.com
Caesar raised an eyebrow, clearly not expecting such a cold reception.
He moved toward me with predatory grace, placing his hands on my desk and leaning forward until his imposing frame loomed over me.
"Is it so strange that I’d want to see my mate?" he asked, his voice a low rumble that sent unwanted shivers down my spine.
I leaned back in my chair, creating distance between us.
My wolf stirred inside me, wanting to bridge that gap, but I stubbornly held my ground.
"I’m just surprised," I replied coolly. "You must have your own business to attend to. What brings you to Frostline Enterprises so suddenly?"
The memory of his coldness at Vertex headquarters flashed through my mind.
Caesar’s expression softened unexpectedly.
"I wanted to see you," he admitted with disarming honesty. "It’s been too long, and I’ve missed you."
I felt a chill run through me at his sudden vulnerability.
This wasn’t the calculating Alpha I’d come to know.
"We live in the same house," I pointed out, trying to maintain my composure. "It’s hardly been ’too long’ since we’ve seen each other."
Caesar rounded my desk with deliberate steps, closing the distance between us. "But you leave before dawn and return after I’m asleep. You’ve been avoiding me." frёeωebɳovel.com
His voice carried a hint of accusation wrapped in something that sounded suspiciously like hurt, which caught me completely off guard.
I never expected to hear the mighty Wolf King sounding so... wounded.
"I’ve been busy," I said, averting my gaze. "If you don’t have anything important to discuss, you should go. I have work to finish."
Caesar didn’t respond with words.
Instead, he continued his approach until he had effectively trapped me between my chair and his body.
My escape routes cut off, I felt like prey cornered by a predator—a feeling my Alpha wolf absolutely despised.
I placed my hand against his chest, feeling his heart beating steadily beneath my palm.
"What do you think you’re doing?" I demanded. "This is my office, Caesar. Be professional."
His large hand captured my wrist, engulfing it completely.
The contact sent a jolt of awareness through me, reminding me of how small I appeared next to his towering frame—though we both knew my strength was anything but diminished.
"Sylvia,"he said, voice low and laced with danger."I think you know exactly why I’m here."
Confusion clouded my mind. "What am I supposed to know?"
Caesar leaned down, his breath warm against my ear as he whispered, "That I’ve genuinely missed my Sivi."
A shiver ran down my spine at the use of my nickname, and my wolf practically purred at the attention.
"Sivi," he continued, his voice a seductive murmur, "it’s been too long since we’ve been together properly. Too long since I’ve held you, scented you..."
