Chapter 109: Chapter 109 Renegotiation

Sylvia’s POV

I leaned back in my office chair, eyes fixed on the ceiling as my mind spun through the mess of recent events.

The sudden change in Alpha Vargas’s attitude seemed suspicious—almost as if he harbored some hidden agenda against me. freёwebnoѵel.com

My wolf was restless, pacing just beneath the surface.

She didn’t like inconsistency, and neither did I.

The soft chime of an incoming email pulled me out of my mental spiral.

I almost dismissed it, assuming it was another round of reports or vendor updates.

But the subject line made my blood freeze.

Subject: Meeting Request – From the Office of Alpha Vargas

I sat up straighter, scanning the message with narrowed eyes.

Dear Ms. Frost,

This is Emily Grant, executive assistant to Alpha Vargas.

Alpha Vargas has reviewed your recent outreach and would like to schedule a meeting to discuss the future of your companies’ collaboration.

Would you be available tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. at his downtown office?

Best regards,

Emily Grant

Executive Assistant – Vargas Holdings

I blinked. Twice.

What the hell?

Just hours ago, Alpha Vargas had made it painfully clear he wanted absolutely nothing to do with Frostline Enterprises.

He’d been colder than an arctic winter. Now he wanted a sit-down?

My wolf perked up. This wasn’t typical Alpha behavior.

Still, I wasn’t about to let this opportunity slip by.

I quickly typed back:

Dear Ms. Grant,

Thank you for reaching out. I confirm my availability for the meeting. Please let me know if there are any documents I should prepare in advance.

Best,

Sylvia Frost

General Manager – Frostline Enterprises

Not even five minutes later, her reply pinged in.

Ms. Frost,

No additional documents are necessary at this time.

Alpha Vargas was genuinely impressed by your persistence and believes that, given your companies’ shared history, it is worth reopening the conversation.

He looks forward to the meeting.

Emily Grant

Executive Assistant – Vargas Holdings

I stared at the screen, trying to make sense of this complete 180.

Impressed? By me?

That was a first.

I sent a simple "Thank you" and put my phone down.

Tomorrow couldn’t come fast enough.

I understood the stakes perfectly—if I could get Vargas back on board, the other suppliers would fall in line.

But still...

The smile faded from my face. Alpha Vargas was notoriously hard to deal with.

His reputation for being stubborn and unyielding was legendary throughout Howling Peaks. Was he truly moved by my efforts, or was something else going on behind the scenes?

I took a deep breath, forcing my body to relax.

Regardless, tomorrow’s meeting would give me answers.

For now, I needed to prepare.

The next day, I arrived at Vargas Holdings twenty minutes early, dressed in a steel-gray suit that complemented my natural Alpha presence without being too aggressive.

My wolf paced anxiously as I approached the reception desk.

The receptionist from yesterday—the one who had looked at me like I was complete garbage—was nowhere to be seen.

In her place sat a young man with a pleasant smile who practically jumped out of his skin when I approached.

"Ms. Frost," he greeted me, his tone respectful. "Alpha Vargas is expecting you. Would you like to wait in his office? He should be arriving shortly." fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm

"That would be fine," I replied smoothly, maintaining my composure despite my complete confusion. "And could you arrange for some tea to be brought up? I brought a special blend."

I pulled out an elegant wooden box containing premium tea leaves I’d researched were Alpha Vargas’s favorite.

The receptionist’s eyes went wide.

"Of course, Ms. Frost. Right away."

As I followed him to the elevator, I couldn’t help but wonder what had happened between yesterday and today to cause such a dramatic transformation.

When Alpha Vargas finally walked into his office fifteen minutes later, I caught the subtle shift in his expression as the aroma of quality tea reached him.

His wolf was pleased—I could tell from the way his nostrils flared slightly and his shoulders relaxed a fraction.

"Alpha Vargas," I said as I rose from my chair, offering him the customary nod of respect that one Alpha grants another.

My voice was calm, but the air between us crackled with tension—power, caution, and something I couldn’t yet name. "It’s good to see you."

His grip was firm but surprisingly warm as we shook hands.

The cold dismissal I’d encountered previously was gone, replaced with what seemed like genuine cordiality—perhaps even a hint of nervousness. It was disconcerting.

"Ms. Frost," he nodded, taking his seat across from me. "This tea... excellent choice. Northern White, aged five years?"

"Seven," I corrected gently, watching him carefully as he settled in.

His movements were slow, deliberate, like he was stalling for time—or playing a game I hadn’t been invited to.

The shift in his demeanor was subtle but impossible to ignore.

I felt totally lost.

Alpha wolves didn’t do complete reversals without reason, and they certainly didn’t become suddenly accommodating without cause.

I shook off the chaos in my head—focus first, figure out the rest later.

"Shall we cut to the chase, Alpha Vargas?" I asked, leaning forward slightly. "I came here hoping we could clear up any misunderstandings and rebuild our relationship."

"Of course," he replied, a small smile playing at his lips as he sipped his tea with deliberate slowness.

I rested my elbows on the table, meeting his gaze directly. "Alpha Vargas, I have to ask—why did you pull the plug on our contract so abruptly?"

His eyes flickered with something I couldn’t quite identify.

Nervousness? From an Alpha of his caliber?

"If it was because of the online rumors, you didn’t seem that pissed initially. We should have at least had a chance to set the record straight. But then later..." I let my voice trail off, watching his reaction carefully.

Alpha Vargas’s expression shifted to something more serious as he studied my genuinely confused face.

For a moment, doubt crossed his features, as if he was second-guessing something fundamental.
