Chapter 294: Hospital Drama
A lot of things happened after Scott’s accident.
When his girlfriends heard the news, they abandoned their New Year’s celebrations and boarded the fastest possible transport to Metro City.
Their destination was Platinum Care Hospital.
It wasn’t a big hospital by any means, but it was the closest hospital, just at the entrance of Metro City, so the paramedics were required by law to take him to the nearest hospital, especially in cases of fatal accidents. If it was up to Scott’s girlfriends, they’d have all used their connections to get him into Woodhull Private Hospital.
Unfortunately, they were all outside Metro City.
Because Beca had been all the way in Ibiza, getting back wasn’t a simple matter of buying a ticket and arriving the next day. Time was ticking, and she was desperate. So she had to abuse her superhero identity as Vixen to cut right to the front of the airport lines... and surprisingly, it worked like a charm.
As it turned out, both she and Foxgirl had a large fanbase of male admirers in Spain. The airline staff handling the ticketing happened to be huge fans themselves and eagerly pulled strings to get her onto the quickest flight bound for the United States.
Yet, despite her rushing, she arrived at the hospital lobby only to find that she was far from the first one there.
Emma was already present, pacing back and forth with a deeply worried expression. She was in her Miss Mercury super suit, making it glaringly obvious that she had literally sprinted the entire distance from New York City to get here.
Hovering slightly above the ground just a few feet away was Lady Fortress who looked paranoid.
Gwen stood near the seating area alongside her Tess who looked overwhelmed with anxiety. Tears streamed down Tess’s face as she wrung her hands and cried softly like a pitiable child.
"I kept telling him! I said he should be with us in New York, and now look what’s happened!"
Tess sobbed, while Gwen did her absolute best to calm her mother down.
Then there was Nadia. She’d abruptly walked out on a high-profile family gathering just to be here. In fact, she’d been so utterly unprepared for the emergency that she hadn’t even had time to change. She was still adorned in flashy jewelry and a breathtaking aquamarine and gold attire that made her look every bit like the Arabian princess she was.
A few of her personal guards stood awkwardly near the entrance, trying to maintain a perimeter. But Nadia didn’t care about the staring eyes or the silliness of wearing royal garments in a hospital lobby; all she cared about was her precious boyfriend. She clasped her hands tightly against her round melons and prayed quietly.
Vixen looked down at her own super suit, then at the heavy luggage she hadn’t even bothered to drop off after touching down in Metro City.
She let out a miserable sigh.
『These girls are all such try-hards...』
She shook her head.
『I literally went through hell to get here, and I still didn’t even make it on time. To think I could be bested so easily by their obsessive love is just crazy. Jeez.』
That was exactly when the double doors of Platinum Care Hospital flew open.
BAAAAAHHH!
It was like a natural disaster had swept in.
"Where is he?!"
A panting Bella stormed into the lobby, screaming at the top of her lungs.
"Where is my sweetheart Scott?! I heard what happened! He better be alright! And why on earth is he in this low-budget, no-name hospital for goodness sake?! My boyfriend deserves only the absolute best healthcare in the world!"
She was already waving her fist aggressively in the air as she yelled at the reception desk.
A few moments later...
Morgan finally stumbled through the doors. He’d been chasing Bella tirelessly all the way through the massive parking lot. Resting his hands on his knees, the old man panted heavily, looking as though he might actually expire right then and there.
"Miss Bella... please... have mercy on an old man."
Morgan took a second to wheeze then continued.
"You flew all the way here on the Trevors private jet without even letting your father know! I’m certain the Chairman is worried sick! Why must you always act on such reckless impulse? No sensible adult would ever abuse the use of a private jet in such a manner... we’re only fortunate that the spare jet was still at the hangar, so the Chairman and his wife can at least make it back to LA..."
Morgan exhaled a deep sigh of relief as he wiped the sweat from his brow.
But his relief lasted for all of two seconds.
The hospital doors barged open yet again.
This time it’s the parents of the natural disaster.
Both the Chairman and Geraldine stormed into the room in the exact same fashion as their daughter.
"I finally have a son!"
The stone-faced man screamed at the ceiling.
"A son I can actually talk about men’s stuff with! And the first thing this sick world thinks to do is send a truck to strike him down?! Has the universe sworn a blood oath that I won’t have a bro to enjoy sports with?! RAAHHH!"
The Chairman was so boiling with so much anger that if someone poured a drop of fuel on him, he’d probably be on fire by now.
Right beside him, Geraldine was screaming just as loud as he was although her voice was soft.
"I hope my dearest Scott is alright! He better not be disabled! I will personally sue this entire hospital into bankruptcy if he is!"
All of Scott’s girlfriends stared blankly at the exotic Trevors family. Watching the three of them shout back and forth and threaten every manner of legal and financial action possible was quite the site.
Miss Mercury’s eyes went half-lidded.
"Of course... they’re all exactly alike."
There’s not a single difference you can spot between Bella and her parents.
Meanwhile, old Morgan covered his weary face with both hands in utter shame.
He groaned miserably to himself.
『And here I thought Miss Bella was the only crazy person in this family... I actually lectured her for taking the private jet, only to find out her parents that are supposed to be the adults did the exact same thing.』
Ignoring the stares, Bella rushed straight over to her father and grabbed him by the arm.
"Dad! You have to get every single specialist on your contact list to come here right now! We need to make sure that Scott doesn’t end up in a wheelchair! Yes, obviously I’ll love him regardless, but what if the injury is so bad that he can’t even get erect?! Then I won’t be able to have any kids with him, and you and Mom won’t get any grandkids!"
The image of little Scotts and Bellas went POOF! in the terrified Chairman’s head.
Water was already squeezing out of his eyes.
He looked like he was about to let out the waterworks but he managed to hold it back as he screamed at the ceiling like a possessed madman.
"Enough of this nonsense! I’ll call every top specialist in Asia and Europe and fly them down on private charters right now! My daughter must get married to a wonderful man who is hard enough to get her pregnant DAMMIT!"
Chairman Trevors has clearly gone mad so Morgan didn’t waste another second. The old butler lunged forward with a surprising amount of agility and tackled the screaming Chairman to the ground.
"RAAHH! LET GO OF ME!"
"No, sir!"
"I’LL BURN THIS DAMN HOSPITAL DOWN!"
"You’d still end up paying for it, sir."
Grabbing him firmly, Morgan began dragging his employer backward out of the hospital lobby, while the Chairman continued to wildly curse at the staff,.
"IF ANYTHING HAPPENS TO MY BOY I’LL MAKE SURE YOU ALL PAY DEARLY!!"
The girlfriends watched the entire thing happen with deeply embarrassed expressions.
They don’t know what to say or how to react.
Lady Fortress shyly floated down a bit.
"Humans can be... remarkably strange..."
"Nope. Those guys are just plain weird."
Miss Mercury replied with a deadpan face.
Nadia calmly turned to the rest of the group.
"To be honest, girls... I’m actually very surprised to see Chairman Trevors acting like that."
Beca lifted a brow, glancing over at her.
"Huh? Whatchu mean?"
"I’ve met him a few times at international galas and tech events that I attended with my father. The man is usually incredibly cold. He genuinely doesn’t care about people at all. And from what I’ve heard, his wife is considered way worse... she’s essentially a corporate demon who bankrupts businesses just to buy them up for repurposing. It’s crazy to see them this worked up over Scott... don’t get me wrong, Scott is amazing and all, but it’s not like they even know who he really is... yunno, under the mask."
Miss Mercury folded her arms across her chest and smiled tenderly at Bella.
This worried and caring side of her...
Miss Mercury didn’t know she had this in her.
"Scott just has that effect on people."
Those soft words made the other girls smile.
...
Inside his second-floor office...
Dr. Bellwood was relaxing in his leather chair as he flipped through a stack of late-night medical charts. The muffled sounds of the lobby down below were already giving him a massive headache.
"What is all that noise downstairs?!"
He clicked his tongue and continued.
BANG!
His door flew open.
Two nurses burst into the room, gasping for air as if they’d just run a marathon.
Dr. Bellwood jumped, dropping his pen.
He glared at them with a heaving chest.
"Knock next time, for heaven’s sake! What on earth is the matter with you two?"
The two nurses had a lot to say:
"Dr. Bellwood! It’s an emergency!"
"The patient in Room 1173... Scott McQueen! We need to move him to the VIP suite right now! If his visitors see how shabby his current room is, we are doomed!"
Dr. Bellwood let out a scoff and waved them away.
"Oh, please. I understand the boy is a celebrity model and all, but let’s be realistic. The only VIP suite we have left is strictly reserved. Jonah Hawks is scheduled to arrive any minute now!"
The medical director’s face instantly lit up.
Suddenly, he felt proud of this no-name hospital.
"Do you two even get who Jonah Hawks is? He’s the top pitcher for the Metro City Serpents! His stats this season are absolutely insane! A 1.85 ERA, over two hundred strikeouts, and he literally carried the team to the championship victory last month single-handedly! If we take perfect care of Jonah Hawks and keep him happy, the media coverage alone will put our hospital on the map! We’ll go national!"
The second nurse bit her lip, looking stressed.
"But doctor... this Scott McQueen guy is really, really big right now... he—"
"Oh, come off it."
Dr. Bellwood cut her off as he rolled his eyes.
"Being a model is a fine career path if you just need a decent amount of money, but it doesn’t have the kind of stardom we need. Besides, our paramedics and skilled surgeons saved his life after a fatal accident. He should be more than grateful with a standard room."
VROOOOOOOM!
The deafening sounds of shouting.
Endless camera shutters.
Screams of what sounded like desperate fans outside.
It was mind-numbing at this point.
"WHAT IS ALL THAT NOISE?!"
Frowning, Dr. Bellwood stood up and walked over to the window. He parted the blinds and peeked outside. His jaw instantly dropped.
The entire street was completely gridlocked.
A massive, roaring crowd of people had swarmed the hospital gates, surrounded by dozens of flashing news vans, satellite dishes, and hungry journalists pushing mics and cameras into the air.
The doctor panicked severely.
"What in the world?! What’s with all these people?! Is there a riot?!"
Both nurses saw this chance and took it.
"That’s what we’ve been trying to tell you, Doctor!"
"Mr. McQueen might just be a model, but his visitors seem incredibly important!"
"Give me that!"
Dr. Bellwood snatched a clipboard right out of the nurse’s trembling hands.
He adjusted his glasses, scanning the list of arrivals.
"Let’s see here... Miss Mercury? Hmm. Well, that’s certainly impressive for a superhero, but it’s still not Jonah Hawks impressive... wait..."
His eyes widened as he scrolled down.
"Lady Fortress came to see him too?!"
Beads of sweat rolled down the doctor’s face. He was already reconsidering his stance, but in his mind, a legendary baseball star like Jonah Hawks was still a much bigger fish for the hospital’s reputation.
Then, his eyes hit the next few names on the registry.
His face drained of all color.
"The... The Trevors family?!"
Dr. Bellwood shrieked like a terrified little girl.
"Bella Trevors?! The mean queen of Hollywood?! And her parents are here too?!"
He kept reading and his eyes nearly popped out of their sockets as he saw the final name.
"Nadia Al-Rashid?!"
He choked.
"EEEEEEEK!"
He choked again.
The medical director jumped off his chair as his clipboard flew into the air. He began pacing around the room like a madman, hyperventilating as he screamed a list of orders at the top of his lungs.
"Clear out the VIP room right now! Send up the imported French sparkling water! Get the organic caviar! The Egyptian cotton sheets! Bring out the golden cutlery! I want everything perfect while I personally go down to escort Mr. McQueen!"
The nurses nodded and hurried out the door.
Dr. Bellwood sweat bullets right behind them.
As he rushed down the hallway, his mind was spinning into overdrive.
『Who the hell is this Scott McQueen?! How does a regular guy have so many insanely powerful people coming to see him at a low-budget hospital like this?! How can a model even know a member of the Al-Rashid royal family?! They’re rich enough to buy out a small country! Heck, a big one even!』
A passing nurse saw his pale face.
"Doctor, are you alright?"
Dr. Bellwood didn’t even answer.
He just kept sprinting, wiping the sweat from his face.
By the time he reached Room 1173, his knees were shaking from fear. He stopped outside the door to take deep breaths that would maybe calm him down.
『Please let him be okay...』
The doctor prayed silently to himself.
『This guy better not ruin my life. I should’ve put him in a better room from the start, but the boy healed so miraculously fast from his injuries that there was no medical need for it! Please, I need this to work out... he can post one bad review on the internet and my career is over!』
There were tears in his eyes and sweat in his palms.
All the signs of a miserable man.
He forced a smile and opened the door.
"Mr. McQueen, I am so incredibly sorry for the—"
The doctor froze mid-sentence.
His plastic smile instantly shattered.
"Huh?"
Scott was sitting upright on the hospital bed.
He was perfectly healthy and casually eating a small cup of cherry jello.
But that wasn’t what caught the doctor’s attention.
Seated directly on Scott’s crotch was a dark-skinned beauty with messy, snow-white hair and red eyes.
It was Dark Elf. freewebnσvel.cøm
She was wearing nothing but a tight, ash-gray sports bra and matching panties. Her perky breasts stood out very erectly, while her thick, toned thighs and heavy bubble butt suffocated Scott’s welcoming crotch.
Scott looked up at the door and waved lightly at the doctor with an easygoing smile.
"Oh. Hey, doc. Thanks for the jello."
Dark Elf didn’t move an inch.
"Hnnn..."
Her dull, emotionless red eyes stared blankly at the terrified medical director.
"Your chips here are stale..."
She held up a half-eaten bag.
"Stale chips..."
A brain-dead Dr. Bellwood stood in the doorway.
"Eh?"
...
Meanwhile, a black limousine pulled up to the rear entrance of Platinum Care Hospital.
Inside, Jonah Hawks was leaned back against the leather seat looking relaxed.
He had a smug grin on his face.
Three naked supermodels were all over him, softly kissing his neck and gently massaging his heavily bandaged broken arm as they spoke their usual sweet words.
"Oh, Jonah, you’re so strong."
"When your arm heals, you have to dedicate your very first home-run pitch to us, okay?"
Jonah let out a loud laugh and squeezed her waist.
"Of course I will. But first, I just have to get checked into this absolute dump of a hospital."
Another supermodel pouted, kissing his cheek.
"Ugh, why are you even staying at a low-budget place like this anyway? A superstar like you deserves only the best private clinics in the country."
"Eh, it’s all for dumb PR, right Claire?"
Jonah glanced over at the front passenger seat.
Claire simply nodded without turning around.
"Yes, Mr. Hawks."
She stared out the window, quietly looking away from the pathetic display in the back. Claire had been his secretary for over two months now, and she still wasn’t used to seeing him keep so many naked bimbos around him at all hours of the day.
She secretly hated her life.
First, she was the secretary of The Peak.
And now she had to deal with this egotistical, toxic baseball bastard. It felt like she was trapped in an endless loop of serving terrible men.
Claire let out a miserable sigh.
『I haven’t seen a genuinely good, kind-hearted man since Scott... it’s been so long. I’ll probably never see him again, that’s for sure.』
She let out a deeper sigh and bit her lower lip.
