Chapter 183: Consensus
"You must be shitting me!" Elisebeth, the diva of the century, shouted words no one could have imagined her ever saying.
Behind her, Rias’s eyes widened as one thought shot through her mind. Elise!
Alexandra’s smile deepened, and Cassandra acted as if nothing had happened. Katherine, meanwhile, felt her thoughts crash straight into panic. freёwebnoѵel.com
The Businesswoman of the Year showing up at Martin’s door with a love letter is too wild! It’s way too wild! He might not handle it. He definitely could not handle it! I know how he acts around Cassandra in person! But wait... what about me? What about Alex? What about the diva?
None of those questions crossed the minds of the other three, and Elisebeth hadn’t slowed down, either.
"We all agreed not to reveal who we really are to Martin! You can’t just go ahead and confess to him! And why do you think he’ll accept you, Cassandra? You’re his boss! You pay him! He works for you! If anything, he should be with me!"
Her voice cracked with diva fury, but there was something softer underneath it, something that had nothing to do with pride or competition. Elisebeth could already picture Martin beside her after a concert, looking awkward while she dragged him past flashing cameras.
She could imagine him sitting next to her on a private flight, staring out the window while she pointed at cities she wanted to show him. She could even see Martin watching her sing with eyes meant only for her, close enough that she no longer felt like a distant star on a stage.
"I’ll take the best care of him! We’ll see the whole world together!"
"Please, Elisebeth. For me, even the sky isn’t the limit," Cassandra replied with a confident smile.
Elisebeth bit down on her pillow, her eyes twitching, before she turned her glare on Alexandra. "Why are you smiling like that?!"
"Because I can steal Martin from under all your noses." Alexandra gave her long ponytail a playful shake.
Elisebeth clutched her pillow hard enough to wrinkle it and stared daggers at her and Cassandra. "I don’t allow this! No! Just a damn big no!"
"Oh? And you think you can stop us?" Alexandra asked.
Elisebeth howled. "Of course I can! Listen, if you want to confess, then go ahead. But it has to be all three of us at the same time! And I am changing my avatar as well! I am done with this ’plain’ makeup in the game!"
Katherine felt a pang in her heart. At first, watching Martin and the others stumble through romance had been exciting, almost fun. She had been the observer, laughing from the safest seat while everyone else lost control.
But the moment Elisebeth said only three of them could confess, something sharp twisted inside her because those three did not include her. That irritated her more than it should have. She wasn’t supposed to be part of this. She was supposed to be the reasonable one, the person watching over the chaos and making sure no one crossed a line.
Yet her hand had already curled into a fist, and her chest felt too tight for her to keep pretending.
She slammed her hand against the desk. "What do you mean, three of you? Count me in!"
"Whatever! I am not losing to any of you!" Elisebeth shouted back.
"Really, Kate? Do I have to crush you too?" Alexandra rolled her eyes.
Cassandra only nodded, as though she had expected the chaos from the start.
"Still, this is a terrible move! A very terrible move if we all suddenly confess to him! Surprisingly, Elisebeth said something smart for once!"
"What do you mean, for once?"
"...Martin turns into a soldier when he’s with Cassandra. What about us? How will he act around me, Alex, or Elisebeth? Will he become a soldier as well?! Will he get shy?! Or maybe he’ll see it as too much for him and leave us?!"
"LEAVE?!" Elisebeth screamed.
"He’s the reason we’re all connected, and he doesn’t even know what he’s standing in the middle of!" Katherine’s voice hardened with every word. "Try looking at this from his side for one second. Cassandra is his boss. Elisebeth is a world-famous diva. Alex is a menace with too much money and no brakes. And me? I’ve been hiding behind a fake name while pretending I’m the normal one here. If all of that falls on him at once, what do you think he’s going to feel?"
Elisebeth’s grip on the pillow tightened, but Katherine didn’t let up.
"He’ll feel cornered. He’ll start questioning everything. Every laugh, every conversation, every stupid little moment we shared with him could start looking like another lie from women who could crush his ordinary life without even trying."
Her throat tightened, but she forced the words out.
"We can’t confess yet! First, we bring him into our world. Then we explain why we didn’t reveal our real names or share more of our lives with him. From now on, we have to be careful with him for real. We can’t dump everything on him and expect him to survive it just because we’re being selfish with our feelings. Don’t confess until he gets comfortable around all of us! Do you understand me?!"
Katherine looked so serious that even Cassandra nodded and answered like a good girl. And with that, their first four-way meeting came to an end.

"I see... I see how it is... This is war, Rias!" Elisebeth shouted after the call ended.
Rias gulped. "Remember, you can’t confess."
"I won’t break this rule, of course. I’ll fight fair and square! I already know what to do!"
Rias stared at her for a long moment, trying to decide whether Elisebeth had made a plan or loaded a cannon and aimed it at her own foot. freewebnovel.cσ๓
"Elisebeth."
"What?"
"You need to move carefully."
"I am always careful."
"You once tried to sneak out of a hotel by wearing sunglasses indoors and calling yourself Elizabeth with a Z."
"That almost worked."
"The entire lobby screamed your name."
Elisebeth looked away, and Rias sighed before softening her voice. "Martin doesn’t know he’s been talking to you. He doesn’t know the real you yet. If you rush him too hard, he may feel tricked before he ever gets the chance to feel chosen."
That finally made Elisebeth quiet, although the silence lasted only one second before she snatched her phone and raised it to take a selfie.
"That’s a sexy selfie, but he has no clue about your real name or identity yet. He’ll think you’re sending him a picture of your favorite singer or something," Rias said like a stern older sister.
"I’m putting it as the profile picture of the account I use to message Martin. He’ll see it, and then we’ll meet in the game world. I’ll strip away every feature I added to my avatar to hide my identity and enter with my real face and body! Once he sees both of them, he’ll know the girl in the picture and the girl in the game are the same person. He’ll know it’s me!"
"That’s a good first step, yes. Then we’ll see how he reacts around you."
"Yes! If he gets embarrassed and shy, I’ll make him more comfortable! Also, Rias. You need to fix the misunderstanding tomorrow. Okay?"
"I will." Rias nodded.
