Chapter 164: Monster Storm Part 4

Shin approached the castle, joining the girls in their defensive effort. With him nearby, and while taking advantage of the walls, it became much easier to kill almost every monster that tried to attack.

Arlo was resting and slowly recovering. Meanwhile, Liliel confirmed that Lara had finally deactivated her transformation and had fallen into a deep sleep.

Just then, their "salvation" finally arrived, which was honestly a relief for Shin, who was already pushing himself far beyond his limits.

BOOOOOOM!

A pillar of golden light suddenly descended from the sky like divine judgment itself. The explosion instantly vaporized dozens of monsters surrounding the castle. The girls covered their eyes in shock while the remaining beasts howled in terror.

Then a figure slowly walked out from the center of the light.

A tall man with long dark-purple hair that reached past his shoulders, swaying dramatically in the wind. His handsome face looked almost unreal, with pale skin, sharp blue eyes, and soft features that could make some girls forget they were in the middle of a battlefield.

He wore an elegant black sleeveless outfit that exposed his toned arms, alongside a long white coat flowing behind him like a cape.

And for some reason hard to explain, he was posing. One hand rested against his chest while the other pointed dramatically toward the sky.

"Fear not, beautiful newcomers!" the man declared loudly enough for everyone to hear. "For your radiant savior has finally arrived!"

Another wave of golden light exploded from his body. Several monsters were instantly pierced by dozens of glowing spears before they could even react.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

The attacks were absurdly flashy, with completely unnecessary effects. Shin stared at him with dead eyes.

"Carl... it really needed to be him..." he murmured to himself in a low voice. He was one of the instructors of the test.

Unfortunately.

Carl flashed a perfect smile while brushing his hair back dramatically.

"That’s right!" he declared proudly. "The magnificent Carl has arrived to save the day!"

He suddenly turned toward the terrified girls near the walls and let out a long, disappointed sigh. Clearly, Carl was not very happy with the overwhelming concentration of women in the area. He felt like he was really unlucky.

"What a tragedy..." he muttered dramatically while placing a hand over his forehead. "Not a single handsome prince among them..."

However, his eyes suddenly sparkled the moment they landed on Shin. The instructor froze for half a second.

He had seen the boy fight from far away and knew he was strong. But he didn’t know how good-looking he was. And most importantly, he looked young and clearly ambitious.

In other words... exactly Carl’s type.

"Oh?"

His expression instantly brightened.

Golden sparkles practically appeared around him as he smoothly brushed his long purple hair back.

"You cute boy, good job holding out for so long," Carl said while suddenly appearing right beside Shin in an exaggerated flash of light. "You’re honestly very impressive for a newcomer."

"And don’t worry," he added with a dazzling smile capable of blinding people, "your heroic instructor is here to protect you now."

Shin immediately removed Carl’s hand from his shoulder with a dead-eyed expression.

"Please don’t touch me like that."

"Ara? Don’t be shy."

"I’m just not interested in men at all," Shin said immediately, trying to get rid of the problem that was this guy as quickly as possible.

"Oh!"

Carl staggered backward dramatically as if he had just been struck directly in the heart.

One hand covered his mouth while the other pressed against his chest. Golden light particles exploded around him unnecessarily as he stared at Shin with wide, trembling eyes.

"A cruel rejection... delivered so coldly..."

He turned away for a second, pretending to wipe away invisible tears while his long purple hair fluttered heroically in the wind for absolutely no reason.

The girls nearby watched silently.

"Why is his hair moving?" one of them whispered.

"There’s no wind," another answered nervously.

Then suddenly, Carl stopped trembling and turned back toward Shin. A slow smile spread across his face. freewebnovёl.ƈom

"I think this is love!"

The instructor pushed his hair back smoothly before looking directly at Shin again.

"You are so cold. But hard-to-get boys are exactly my favorite type."

Shin’s expression instantly worsened.

Fuck, why do I need to be so unlucky? he thought, cursing his luck.

"My love, unfortunately I need to leave and defeat monsters."

Finally leaving Shin behind, the man leaped into the air again. Golden light gathered around him like a miniature sun before raining down upon the battlefield in a spectacular storm of explosions.

Entire groups of monsters disappeared instantly. Carl had the perfect power to deal with a storm of weak monsters. And for the stronger ones, he could ask for help from the other instructors later.

Right after that, Carl informed Shin that some of the teachers were already repairing the seal and that the test would soon return to normal.

He also asked if Shin had any information about what had happened. And Shin told him almost everything.

Naturally, he revealed that Gut was the one responsible for all of this. He explained that Arlo and Lara had defeated him, and that both of them were currently resting inside the castle, exhausted.

Shin also warned Carl about the chimera, explaining that the monster had been imprisoned inside a gigantic ice prison.

"If you want, you can stay and wait for Arlo to wake up and confirm everything," Shin said, secretly hoping Carl wouldn’t stay.

"I would love to," the flashy man answered with a bright smile. "However, I still have many monsters to eliminate. So sadly, duty calls."

Then Carl suddenly raised one hand dramatically toward the sky. Golden light exploded around his body once more, illuminating the battlefield like the arrival of some divine hero.

Several girls had to shield their eyes again.

"Do not fear!" Carl declared loudly while his coat fluttered behind him in a completely nonexistent wind. "As long as beauty, justice, and my magnificent face exist, no evil shall prevail today!"

Carl smiled at Shin, trying to get his attention.

"I’ll leave this place in your capable hands, you adorable cute boy!"

Then, with another absurd explosion of light, Carl shot toward the battlefield like a falling star. A distant group of monsters instantly exploded seconds later.

After that, Shin began taking care of things in the castle and making sure all the girls were well. He also got food for all of them from his storage room.

Then he finally lay down on the bed in his room. Because Arlo and Lara were still sleeping, he decided to do the same. On the horizon, the sun had already set.

But as he lay on his bed, he heard someone knock on his door. When he opened it, what he saw was Zoe wearing lingerie.

"Can I talk with you?" she asked with a blush.
