Chapter 557: Chapter 557: I Want You to Accompany Me

Feeling anxious and furious, Song Yuting stomped her feet in frustration and playfully scolded, "Shameless, you’ve seen everything! Get out, you’re sleeping on the sofa tonight, not the bed. Initially, I even wanted..."

At this point, Song Yuting’s face turned even redder as she pushed Xu Xiangbei out of the bedroom and shut the door with a bang.

She hid behind the door, feeling flushed and her chest burning, her heart racing. What’s going on tonight? This night is destined to be an extraordinary one.

Having been kicked out of the bedroom by Song Yuting, Xu Xiangbei nonchalantly carried his wine glass to the sofa. Halfway there, he paused, belatedly realizing the flaw in Song Yuting’s last sentence.

What did she say? Initially wanted to? What did she initially want, maybe she wanted me to sleep on the bed?

Hidden behind the door, Song Yuting, despite her heart pounding like a deer, felt a sense of excitement and thrill never experienced before. She even thought if Xu Xiangbei returned and knocked on the door, she might agree and let him share the bed.

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door, and Song Yuting felt a surge of panic, her heart almost flying out. She didn’t know what to do—should she really open the door and let Xu Xiangbei in?

She thought too much. Xu Xiangbei returned to the bedroom door and gently knocked: "My dear classmate, can you give me a blanket and pillow?"

Song Yuting felt relieved and opened the bedroom door: "Get it yourself."

As he grabbed the blanket and pillow from the bed and reached the door, Xu Xiangbei smirked mischievously: "What did you say you initially wanted? Was it to let me sleep on the bed with you?"

Song Yuting felt her face burning, and she didn’t hide it. She smiled openly: "Yeah, you’ve helped me so much, took me to the hospital, and brought me to get a room. I feel a bit bad about making you sleep on the sofa. However, I must clarify, letting you sleep on the bed with me means just sharing the bed, and that’s all. Please don’t overthink it, and certainly don’t assume anything indecent."

"Heh, is that so? Actually, this sofa here is big and soft. I don’t mind sleeping on the sofa. It’s getting late—good night."

Xu Xiangbei returned to the living room, and Song Yuting slowly closed the bedroom door, but she didn’t lock it. Instead, a faint smile appeared on her lips.

Xu Xiangbei lay on the sofa and fell into a deep slumber. Suddenly, in his haze, he heard Song Yuting calling him: "Xu Xiangbei, Xu Xiangbei."

Xu Xiangbei shouted toward the bedroom: "What’s up?"

Song Yuting’s voice sounded a bit shy: "I can’t sleep in this new place. Can you come in and keep me company?"

This was something he had forgotten—four years ago, on a stormy night, Xu Xiangbei and Song Yuting had been in the same room. That night, Song Yuting was tutoring Xu Xiangbei, and when she planned to return home, there was a lightning storm with torrential rain, so she had to stay at Xu Xiangbei’s place.

He remembered Song Yuting had trouble sleeping in a new place, on a new bed. That night, Song Yuting also couldn’t fall asleep, so she asked Xu Xiangbei to chat with her. They talked for a long time until the middle of the night, and only then did Song Yuting manage to sleep.

Tonight seemed like a reenactment of four years ago, except outside there was no lightning storm with heavy rain.

"Aren’t you afraid I’ll make a move on you?"

"You wouldn’t dare."

Xu Xiangbei grabbed the pillow and blanket and walked into the bedroom. Song Yuting wrapped herself tightly in the blanket, like a concubine in ancient times wrapped in a blanket when favored.

Xu Xiangbei smirked mischievously: "Why are you wrapping yourself up like this? Afraid I’ll take advantage of you?"

"Shameless. Are you going to keep me company or not? If you don’t want to, then just go back to the sofa."

"Who wouldn’t want to sleep in such a comfortable bed? For the night, I’ll risk it to keep a beauty company."

Song Yuting pouted playfully, "No need for you to risk anything. Just stay by my side and chat with me for a while."

"Haha, just like before?"

Seeing that Xu Xiangbei still remembered that night, her face flushed again. She shyly replied, "Mmm, just like that night, quietly keeping me company, only chatting with me—you’re not allowed any naughty thoughts."

Xu Xiangbei laughed and gently lay beside Song Yuting, catching the scent of her plant-based shower gel, involuntarily taking a deep breath: "You said the same thing that night four years ago. You were quite obedient back then, doing as you said. Four years later, you still don’t trust me?"

Song Yuting bit her lip. She couldn’t see Xu Xiangbei’s expression, but she felt awkward—not because Xu Xiangbei lay beside her, but because that night, they truly did nothing at all.

That was an age of budding feelings, and lying in bed that night, she certainly hadn’t thought of nothing. She even thought if Xu Xiangbei really crossed the line, what would she do—resist or comply? She fell asleep in her dilemma.

The next morning, she found her clothes intact. Xu Xiangbei was already preparing breakfast. She was glad she was still untouched, but there was an inexplicable sense of loss in her heart.

Years later, when she recalled that night, she had asked herself more than once, if something did happen that night, would they have ended up breaking up?

Fate’s twists and turns, divine will’s teasing; four years later, she and Xu Xiangbei not only met again but found themselves alone together in one room.

Her heart was as conflicted as ever.

Xu Xiangbei, on the other hand, felt as if his emotions were a mixed bag, not really knowing how to feel. Since they entered the room, impulse and rationality had been battling within him.

Since that night four years ago, Xu Xiangbei had started regretting his decision—that had been a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, yet he actually kept his promise, crossed no lines, and made no indecent moves.

He regretted worrying too much, fearing Song Yuting would reject him, afraid that if he overstepped, they’d cease to even be friends.

But the results showed that even by adhering to the rules, they still ended up not being friends. After they parted ways, they never contacted each other. Upon meeting again, they were like two strangers.

They lay in bed like this, Song Yuting talking about things in school, Xu Xiangbei listening quietly. To prove he wasn’t asleep and was listening intently, he would occasionally laugh and chime in.

The presidential suite was very quiet, the distant neon lights streamed through the window, casting colorful shadows on the ceiling. Occasionally, a car passed by downstairs, its engine sounding gentle.

Just lying here like this chatting, Xu Xiangbei felt it wasn’t quite enough. So he brought in the champagne from the coffee table: "Do you drink champagne? A little champagne will help you sleep better."

"The doctor said my eyes are a bit inflamed, so I shouldn’t drink too much. I can’t drink with you."

"It’s fine. I’ve tried this premium champagne before; its alcohol content is very low and hardly intoxicating. Yet, you can’t buy the bliss of being slightly drunk, and wouldn’t a tipsy state be more poetic?"

Song Yuting pushed away the glass Xu Xiangbei offered, teasingly saying: "NO, you drink by yourself. Hmph, you’re so eager for me to drink—is it because you want to get me drunk and take advantage of me? I’m not falling for it."
