Chapter 8: Chapter 8: introduction, Introduction and intro

After helping Roe, he did an internal count in his head. freewebnoveℓ.com

2 came up to help him.

He thanked them.

2 seemed to be doing stretches or some kind of dance.

Another pair were striking each other with their staffs.

This was combat.

Mages only resort to this form when they’ve exhausted their mana.

The staffs in this form were a substitute for blades.

And there was one more.

She was reading alone in the corner.

He counted 7.

Including himself they’d make 8.

Solomon nodded negatively.

He descended downwards and landed.

He walked up to Roe.

"I’m sure you’ve noticed the pairs and pairings."

"You’re the last of this class to make it here."

Roe got up and said he’d noticed.

"I guess that means I’m getting paired up with the pretty girl over there," he said.

Solomon said he was correct.

"Pretty huh?" one of the students beside him noted.

The other followed, saying at least he knows how to say things as they are.

The first mage pouted.

"We don’t have time to spare."

"Introduce yourselves."

"Hi. I’m Roe."

"I’m an S—"

He got cut short.

Solomon had somehow taken him aside this instant.

Almost like they were in another dimension.

He couldn’t see Solomon but his voice was heard.

"Don’t state you’re an SSS rank."

That was all the voice noted before he was fed back into his own body.

He needed sometime to relapse from the shock.

He didn’t have any and he was well aware.

"Hi, I’m Roe. I’m an S-rank mage."

"Ha, another," one of the mages mentioned.

This immediately caught the others’ attention.

They all stopped what they were doing.

No more stretches, and the sparring was paused.

Even the lone girl marked a page and closed the book.

The others gave their full attention.

Not her though, she still hadn’t turned.

She was not facing the others.

It was like she was observing something in the distance.

Don’t be mistaken, her ears were all focused on what would come next out of Roe’s mouth.

The others too.

Roe said nothing more.

"Ok I’ve introduced myself, who’s next?" he said.

"No silly," the second mage replied.

"What’s your, you know...."

Roe looked shocked.

"Oh my age."

"I’m 19."

"No not that. Your talents, dum dum."

"Oh."

"Oh."

He went from confused to immediately panicking.

He remembered he hadn’t gotten it revealed before following Solomon.

He would look so incompetent if he just came out and said he didn’t know his own talent.

After already visibly panicking.

He tried to take back control.

"Well."

"Well my talent is...."

He paused weirdly.

They thought he was trying to artificially build tension and at least to them what he was doing seemed to work.

"I’m a....."

Solomon cut in.

"He’s had his fun."

"Roe over here is an Energy-type mage."

They were all shocked.

Energy type.

The rarest power type.

More rare than even time and space.

Not rare in the sense of frequency of occurrence or awakening, but rare in the sense of accomplishment and acclaim.

Energy types rarely ever performed S-rank feats.

They were all S ranks, but because of the conversion metrics, they could mostly never output beyond B or A-rank mana or spells.

There’s been only one energy type who’s ever reached his full potential and that’s Vlad.

Roe himself didn’t know his talent.

This came to him at an equal amount of shock as the others.

On paper energy types were broken, but in actuality...

Well.

He didn’t frown.

He thought maybe Solomon was lying.

After all he couldn’t tell the others he was actually SSS rank.

’It’s probably the same thing here.’

’He can’t tell the others whatever his real talents are.’

Roe was completely wrong.

He was in fact an Energy type.

He would eventually come to know this as truth.

"Ok. Since we’ve gotten that out of the way."

The two mages beside Roe introduced themselves next.

"Gwen and John."

"I’m John, an A-rank with Shadow talent."

"Since you already started it, I’m 20 by the way."

"Gwen. He’s my boyfriend."

’Did she need to say that?’ one of the others thought.

"I’m also an A rank but with Light talent."

She smiled following her statement.

One of the dancing pair went next.

"I’m Verdona."

"I’m also A rank."

"My talents aren’t so flashy, it’s really just Soul."

’Soul talent, not so flashy, yeah right,’ Roe thought.

The other followed.

"I’m Max, a B-rank."

Roe was shocked but he didn’t give any indication.

"I’m an Ice-type mage."

The two who were sparring followed next.

They were siblings.

Jack and Julian.

Both guys.

They had the same talents and ranks.

Both A ranks with Flame talent.

An abnormality which would later be explored.

Roe noticed he didn’t get their ages, nor that of the prior pair.

The girl finally turned.

"I’m Ursula."

"I’m an S rank with Space talents."

’She just said talents right?’ Roe thought.

’I heard an S right.’

’Maybe it’s nothing.’

’Maybe it’s nothing.’

He kept to himself.

Solomon clapped.

He thanked the older students for their cooperation.

"Roe go sit beside Ursula, let’s have our first class."

’First class?’ Roe thought.

’Haven’t they been doing classes before I came in?’

He wasn’t shy or anything, he just expected Ursula to be cold.

He was beside her.

She whispered to his ear.

"Yes, we’ve had classes before this."

"Solomon just does this class all the time whenever someone new comes along. It’s good first class."

Roe got it.

His ear tickled.

"Please could you not do that again?"

She didn’t get it.

He pointed at his ear.

"Sure," she said.

"Let’s talk mage classifications, let’s talk origin, let’s talk primitives," Solomon said.

Roe turned.

He was ready to be fully immersed.

-

Before Solomon started proper, Roe looked around. He noticed despite what Ursula said, they all still seemed interested in having this class. You would think they’d be bored if it all by now.

’ I guess not ’.
