Chapter 16: Chapter 16: Leader 2
The specific Code.
The First Combat of Merlin wasn’t one of the more interesting ones.
Mages weren’t literally going all out. It was only a display of some of their more fundamental magic.
Mana beams.
The combat would be initiated by both parties. It was a quick draw.
Both mages would take up their staffs against each other.
One spell. Two mages.
Whoever got knocked out lost.
The mages would be allowed to charge up a powerful spell. They would release whatever spell they chose at the same time.
Spells could be incredibly powerful, but no mage had ever died.
Only severe injuries.
This was as a result of an enchantment.
Enchantments existed as protections or curses.
None possessed this ability but Merlin and Vlad.
Merlin’s enchantment would resurrect the mage even in severe cases.
The combat wasn’t exactly risk-free, as injuries could still result from the clash.
"Modred and Sigman. Ready your staffs," Lot said.
Modred used Darkness talent, and Sigman used Space talent.
Those two knew what they had to do.
It was simple, really.
One spell.
Supercharged.
They both knew they had to think carefully.
Lot gave the signal.
"Begin."
The staffs were summoned.
Decisions were made.
It was all down to this instant.
"Space Talent, No. 79."
"Darkness Talent, No. 4."
They both chanted simultaneously.
"Light Hole."
"Zero Space."
Both spells were put into effect.
They were charged.
All that remained was the result.
Description: Zero Space shrank the distance between everything. It was effectively a black hole. Nothing was sucked in. Everything simply became attracted to everything else.
Everyone got closer to one another.
It was almost like there was no space.
"Guys..." Zach said timidly.
He was literally standing face-to-face with Edward.
They were within kissing distance.
The space only continued to reduce.
What happened when two people collided as a result?
Well...
Description: Light Hole took similar concepts and components from a black hole. It only limited the effect to shades of color. The color activated could then be repelled from the center of attraction or force.
Skilled mages didn’t need to select a color.
This repulsion force could be used with virtually no limitations.
"Are you done charging?" Lot asked.
Zach was getting increasingly nervous.
Lot knew things were going to get rough soon.
He cut it all off.
"I’m going to call it. In three. Two. One."
"You release your techniques."
Sigman nodded.
Modred had already stopped charging his.
He was ready.
Modred didn’t stop because he didn’t want to win or anything like that.
He wasn’t half-assing it either.
The Code would not allow it.
Both mages involved in combat had to give it their all, as prescribed by the Code.
Modred was simply that confident.
"Now, release."
Sigman was surrounded by red.
Light Hole took effect.
He was being sent backward.
Modred’s chosen color didn’t matter.
Zero Space took effect.
Both spells emerged from the staffs like beams, but the area of effect caused Zero Space to affect everyone around them as well.
Sigman was being thrown back.
The repulsion force was too strong.
There was just one small problem.
Zero Space was deleting the distance between the two.
As much as Sigman was pushed backward, he was ultimately never far from Modred.
This was because of the space deletion effect.
Modred eventually noticed.
It only seemed like Sigman was being pushed.
He could still see him clearly.
"What’s up with that?" he said.
Modred hadn’t put this possibility into consideration.
Eventually, they were both within arm’s reach.
Modred collided with his own attack.
He and Sigman made contact as a result of space being deleted.
They fused.
They were still Modred and Sigman separately.
They didn’t have any sense of the other.
It was really weird.
Lot called it off. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
The others were laughing.
This was way too funny.
Lot gave them a stare.
It wasn’t funny.
Lot was the only reason the same thing didn’t happen to Edward and Zach.
He had stopped the spell somehow.
A clap was heard.
All the results of the combat were withdrawn.
Edward and Zach were the first to notice that the original distance between them had been restored.
Sigman and Modred were back to normal.
"So it was technically a tie. However, Sigman’s attack was the one that initiated the tie. Hence, I think he should be the leader," Lot said.
He awaited a response.
Both guys were on the floor.
One got up before the other.
"I’m sorry," Modred said as he raised his hand to help Sigman up.
He was sorry because he knew neither of them wanted the hassle of being a leader.
Sigman would now have to be responsible against his own will.
It was all thanks to Modred.
Zach wanted to ask something.
Modred shut him down before he could.
’I don’t get it. Why doesn’t he want me to weigh in?’ Zach thought, referring to Modred.
’Master’s logic has Sigman as the victor only because his technique initiated the tie. But if that’s the case, wasn’t it Modred’s repulsive spell that took them out? That one was in the lead. Shouldn’t that have been considered as well?’ Zach thought.
Lot waited a while before continuing.
He was clearly waiting for one of his students to point something out.
They never did.
He saw the same complacency.
He gave no remark.
"There you have it," he said.
"Let’s continue training."
-
The other students were trying their best training. Most of them still hadn’t been informed about the test and what exactly it entailed. They just knew an assessment was imminent.
Only a few days remain till Merlin’s vision are realized. The god system. The one who yhe god’s put to walk a path even mightier than the great Merlin.
"Is this even possible?.Is this true ?" These were thoughts shared by everyone, not a single faction. They all thought this.
The date for the Test has been fixed. It’s the day right after Merlin prophesied the god system weilder would rise.
Coincidence.
I think ....
.....not.
