Chapter 14: Chapter 14: Set 2 II
"Pleasure to meet you," Sigman shouted.
"Who’s taking it?" Modred asked.
"I don’t think we have to be all civilized about this. First come, first served," Morgause said.
"No. We’ll be civil, alright," Edward replied.
"Whatever. Let’s just do this," Sigman said.
"How do you suggest we do this?" Finna asked.
Everyone looked to Modred.
He looked around and noticed everyone was looking at him.
He raised his hand, palm on shoulder. It was a drag, but he shrugged it off.
"It’s a boss. Probably B rank. A rank if we’re lucky," Modred said.
"If we’re lucky?"
"I thought we would want it to be weaker," Zach said.
No one replied. Not even Modred. It was pretty common knowledge.
Mages couldn’t grow stronger conventionally after awakening. They could unlock new spells by purchasing them with the reward points that came with monster slaying.
When mages awakened, they got a starter pack. This allowed them to purchase their initial set of spells.
More spells were unlocked with more reward points.
It was a continuous cycle of kills and rewards.
"So I suggest we take it one spell at a time."
"One mage at a time," Modred said.
"How do we decide the order?" Finna asked.
"Don’t think about the order," Modred said.
Everyone looked at him.
They stared more intensely, especially since he had said they shouldn’t think much about the order in which he would call them.
’So this is what he thinks. Let’s hear it,’ Sigman thought.
Modred noticed their eyes.
Their intensity.
’Crap,’ he thought.
"We go Finna, then Morgause, Edward, Kathra, Gandy follows. Sigman comes in, then myself, then Zach. We’ll loop like this if it comes to it."
"Is that good?" he asked.
He got no response.
Everyone was doing their own assessment.
’Wow, so that’s what he thinks,’ Finna thought. freewёbnoνel.com
They all seemed soured except Edward and Sigman.
’I literally told them not to think too much about it, and this is what I get. Wow,’ Modred thought.
"Okay. Let’s start this party!" Finna shouted.
She was up first.
The boss still stood, only observing.
Zach wasn’t angry.
This was expected.
He knew he’d either come in first or last.
First, so his actions would be irrelevant and the real deals could get to work.
Last, so it would never get to him.
’Modred probably intended for either himself or Sigman to finish things. That’s why he created that concentration by having them go back to back. Him right after Sigman,’ Zach thought.
"Space Talent, No. 98 - Warp."
Warp: Linearly teleports items, tangible and intangible, to the target’s location.
Finna summoned her staff.
She charged a large mana beam.
"Bastard! I’ll show you!" she shouted.
The beam was already super big.
"Wow, Finna’s amazing," Zach said.
"She’s overdoing it. She’s been charging up for way too long."
Modred’s expression changed.
He stopped looking on.
He turned and got on his staff.
He called out to Zach.
"Let’s go."
"What are you doing, Finna?" Edward asked.
She continued charging.
She released it.
It disappeared.
"All that for what? It just dissipated," Sigman said.
"Okay, next person."
"Wait for it," Finna said.
Boom!
A loud explosion rang out.
The barrier came undone.
They all fell, but of course everyone made it to their staffs on time.
The landing was graceful.
Zach was the only one who knew Modred expected this.
She did way too much.
Zach didn’t know if Modred somehow knew the boss’s rank and that Finna was actually capable of one-shotting it.
’Wait. So did he actually not pay heed to the order?’ Zach thought.
He was the only one who thought like this. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
"Let’s get on to another exercise," Lot said as he welcomed them back.
"We’ll review first."
They all told their side of the story, explicitly expressing their contributions.
"That’s good," Lot said.
He looked to Zach.
He said nothing.
"So I guess we can continue," Lot proceeded.
"Sir, there’s something I want to say."
Finna raised her hand.
"Don’t you think we need a leader?" she asked.
Lot smiled.
He expected this outcome.
He didn’t want to be the one to initiate it.
He wanted them to be the ones to bring this up.
"Oh? And what brought this up?" he asked.
"Modred. That bastard. He ranked all seven of us while we were up there."
"Seven?" Modred cut in.
"Sorry, eight. He placed me last."
"Last?"
Lot turned to Modred.
"Really?"
"I don’t rank them. It wasn’t like that. We needed to act, so I made the call."
"No. They made the call," Modred said.
’I still can’t believe that’s where Modred places Edward,’ Sigman thought.
"Okay. Let’s all calm down," Lot said.
Finna and Modred raised their voices.
Lot nodded.
He noticed they weren’t backing down.
"Shut up!" Lot shouted.
"You said Modred ranked you all."
"I didn’t," Modred said.
Lot brought out his hand.
He signaled Modred to chill.
He was clearly getting at something.
"I’d like to hear it. Maybe all your takes on it as well."
"I mean, you want a leader, right?"
"So let’s hear it."

The other sets occupied different floors.
Merlin recruited a lot of students every year thanks to Solomon and trained them all thanks to his other students.
After these students get recruited, they’d make into the Realm. Gere they are tested and trained. The students are put through simulations, they face rifts and doors. Monsters of varying ranks.
They venture into unknown worlds to explore for resources that could save humanity, advance it or help it prosper.
The cycle would repeat, sleep, train, sleep, train .
This would all prepare them for Merlin’s test.
Before they are allowed to leave the realm. All the students would be tested.
They would meet each other for the first time. In this case the battle field. Merlin would watch. It’s only those who please him that pass.
The cleansing is what awaits failures. The students aren’t informed of this until the due date.
