Chapter 10: Chapter 10: Get real

Vlad opened up the letter he received.

It was from someone special after all.

The letter detailed the arrival of one mage.

A unique case, one never been recorded since the arrival of Merlin.

Vlad laughed.

He was intrigued.

This mage was much like Merlin but also himself in another way.

Vlad got up and ordered his men to leave.

He wanted to give himself space.

Space to pace about and think, like a real man.

"He’s an Energy type!" Vlad shouted.

"He’s a damn Energy type, and look at his rank."

"He’s different from those wimps who’ve been walking around."

"It’s a shame Merlin’s got his old fingers wrapped around you," Vlad said.

Vlad paused.

He stopped pacing.

He looked around.

The ceilings, the floor and carpet.

He wasn’t literally looking at these things.

He was thinking.

These things just reminded him of his time with Merlin.

He smiled.

"Damn that old man."

"I was originally going to let it be, but there’s no way I’ll let you have your way."

"Not again at least."

He continued on with the letter.

Something else was detailed and described.

Someone else.

No name, just description.

No fact, just possibility.

The god wielder was described in detail.

"Wait, is Morgana serious?" he shouted.

"This can’t be true." ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com

"This can’t be real."

"How though?"

"I mean what are the chances?"

"Two such occurrences in very little interval."

"It’s almost impossible."

"That’s what I’d think."

"But I’ve seen the impossible, not almost."

"He never does almost."

He was referring to Merlin.

Vlad was starting to get Morgana’s angle.

"I can see it."

"She wants things to go down that way, then that’s how things will go down," he said.

"It’s only a couple days."

"That god system will be mine!" he shouted.

"Or at the very least, I’ll be the one to command the user it chooses."

"I’ll bend said mage to my will, reshape him and then Merlin...."

He thought.

Almost without knowing he continued, but this time externally and verbally.

No more inside thoughts.

"I’ll show you old man."

"Just you wait."

"I’ll show you, Merlin."

Solomon continued on.

He explained the fundamentals and demanded they summon their staffs.

"They was going to have a little session," he said.

Everyone got theirs out.

There was no complication.

This shocked Solomon a bit.

He thought Roe would maybe have some issues.

This however wasn’t the case.

He told them to apply mana to it and observe what happens next.

Their staffs began to float.

This wasn’t some new phenomenon to the rest of them.

They were really only having the practice class to get Roe up to speed.

Solomon disappeared.

Before he did, he told them he would be right back.

He zipped.

In almost no time he was back.

His hand looked like it held something but nothing was visible.

He threw what seemed like a sparkle to the sky.

It glittered.

It expanded.

A rift was seen.

"You know what to do," he said.

They all made for the sky.

Some faster than others.

Roe was the last to make it there.

None of them seemed surprised except for Ursula.

She thought it was strange it took him that long.

The others expected this result.

After all he had little training.

"He may be S rank but he’s still a novice," Julian said.

Gwen laughed.

John asked what was so funny.

She immediately reverted to her neutral expression.

"Here comes one," Max said.

The first monster made it out.

It was a goblin.

In an instant it was put down.

No hesitation.

It was barely given time to react.

This was Ursula’s doing.

"There she goes again," Verdona said.

"If you’re so jealous then why don’t you put her in her place?" Max teased.

"Oh please," she replied.

"She one shot the goblin."

"I know goblins are lowly ranked but I mean..."

"There was no spell, no mana reinforcement either."

"That girl..."

"My partner is an absolute beast in her own right."

The rift expanded.

It became bigger and bigger.

This was Solomon’s doing.

He didn’t want them to pick the monsters off one at a time.

He wanted to put the pressure on.

The others besides Roe knew what’s up.

"Oh it’s on," Gwen said.

She charged.

The others followed thereafter.

’Why....’

Roe was shocked.

’Is this an instant rift?’ he thought.

It wasn’t.

Rifts usually open in bits and then they unfold releasing monsters.

This was the norm.

Solomon wasn’t taking things easy with his students.

He used his talents to mimic the properties of an instant rift.

This type unfolds and unravels in mere seconds.

There’s no one monster at a time now.

It’s just mages vs all the monsters.

The sky was more than capable of handling this.

In fact that’s what it’s for.

’It’s a battlefield.’

’No matter what the barrier has been described as, it’s still a battlefield,’ Roe thought.

He smiled.

The others were already ahead.

He would need to act fast if he wanted any kills.

"Ursula let’s sync up our attacks!" he shouted.

She turned.

She smiled.

Ursula was the mage nearest to the rift’s entrance.

She was at the most dangerous yet instrumental point.

She could claim the most kills from this point.

She turned.

She ran not to the rift even further but from it.

She made her way to Roe.

Roe smiled.

He wasn’t sure she would agree.

’She just seemed like the type to say no,’ he thought.

Now standing side to side.

A sound was heard.

Some of the others reacted.

Some did not.

It was a slap.

The sound of a hand reaching for the cheek.

Ursula slapped Roe.

She was disappointed.

Roe didn’t get it.

"What was that for?" he asked. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

"I don’t know if you’ve forgotten but we’re paired up."

"You and I."

Ursula nodded her head.

"And so?" she replied.

He was about to reply in turn.

She dashed.

She was making it back to the front to claim as much spoils as she could.

"Get real!" she shouted.
