Chapter 1408: Mid-Autumn Thoughts: On Japan

Hello Book Lovers, wishing everyone a Happy Mid-Autumn Festival, and a joyous family reunion.

My health hasn’t been great this month, so I’ve been resting. I sincerely apologize and thank everyone for being understanding during this time. I won’t dwell much on health issues, suffice it to say that it’s a lesson for others to learn from.

Now let’s discuss the writing process. Currently, the Japan Zone National War has wrapped up, much to everyone’s delight. Next, Da Fei will step back and focus on global resource acquisition and the grand construction of Sky City, while also subtly guiding the development rhythm of the China Region.

Throughout writing the Japan Zone National War, some readers have raised certain issues, such as the suggestion to avoid writing ’miracle sagas’, or portraying Japan in a foolish manner, or using ’dishpan’ as a derogatory term for Japan, arguing that degrading others equates to degrading oneself... and so forth.

Well, I can only say that online game novels prioritize entertainment; take it with a smile and don’t take it too seriously.

However, September indeed saw many significant events. First, the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Anti-Japanese War was commemorated. Then, Japan finally passed the security bill allowing them to send troops overseas. Lastly, Xi’s visit to the United States.

The first two events have been widely reported, so let’s talk about Xi’s visit to the US. Essentially, Xi’s visit to the US was to deliver a clear message: acknowledging China’s reality as an emerging superpower!

Previously, various US-Japan military exercises, US-Philippines exercises, US-Vietnam exercises, and island chain blockades, among other adversarial actions, essentially boiled down to the US not recognizing China as a superpower, refusing to provide development space while aiming to stifle China’s rise in its budding stage.

During this period, what role did Japan play? A self-proclaimed opportunist who, deluded by its supposed opportunities, frantically sought alliances, essentially acting as a clown.

Clowns are meant for amusement, after all.

Some say that Japan’s military strength during the invasion of China was formidable, and the Japanese believe they were only defeated by the mighty US and Soviet Union, not admitting defeat to China.

But I disagree that Japan’s army was strong then. On the Chinese battlefield, they couldn’t overcome the poorly equipped Eighth Route Army of the Communist Party, and in the Myanmar battlefield, they couldn’t defeat the Nationalist Party’s New Sixth Army. Their invasion exploits relied on planes and tanks, exploiting China’s historical corruption and backwardness.

Once the Chinese military got equipped and systematized, such as when the New Sixth Army in Myanmar was outfitted with full American equipment, what happened to the Japanese army? They were reduced to a joke!

The Chinese military during the Korean War was an existence that Japanese forces couldn’t contend with.

Some argue that Japan’s post-war reconstruction miracle testifies to Japan’s excellence.

Think again. Japan didn’t surrender unconditionally; they signed a treaty with the US to collectively resist the Soviet Union upon surrender. Japan’s post-war miracle was entirely under the protection of the US. Similarly, the US initiated the Marshall Plan in Europe, so post-war Europe’s development was no worse than Japan’s.

Looking at China’s achievements, thirty years of reform and opening-up led to becoming the second-largest economy globally, even amidst various hostile encirclement, outshining a Japan always developed under protection.

Japan isn’t all that exceptional.

There’s nothing wrong with ridiculing an arrogant nation.
