Chapter 13: Chapter 013: Towards the Center.

"Come at me, like the warrior you are."

Behemoth growled, clearly irritated.

"With pleasure,lad."

Behemoth drew out his great sword as a subtle golden glow enveloped his body.

Mikael smiled.

"Fascinating. So by coating their bodies with this mana they increase their strength, defence and speed. Mortals are indeed intriguing, truly interesting creatures."

"Here I come!" The Captain warned.

"I think my Abysmal Gaze should be more than enough to stop this guy, even at my current level. Might as well check how far I can push my limits," Mikael muttered.

Before the man could reach him, Mikael’s eye color turned to red and he activated his aura, joined that to his bloodlust and poured in his Celestial essence, and then stared him down.

As he expected, the mountain of a man froze instantly as an intense pressure fell upon him.

Behemoth felt as though those eyes were going to pierce his very soul and devour it. And to his greatest surprise, his knees gave way, and he fell before the young man.

Erica couldn’t process what had just happened. Less than two seconds ago, Behemoth charged at the brat at almost full speed. Though he had a mountainous figure and the speed of an Grandmaster rank, this guy had simply cast his gaze on the captain —and Behemoth fell.

Erica turned her eyes to meet the young man’s.

It was red?

Immediately, she felt uneasy. As though a predator was looking at her. She lost her balance for half a second before she regained it immediately.

She felt it. The same oppressive sensation that came from facing Godbeasts and top tier Ravagers. But this time increased exponentially! As though a void was about to devour her whole.

For an instant, she imagined shutting him down cold, but decided against it.

"Just who is this guy? Maybe he’s an evolved Godbeast capable of taking human form. That should explain his unusual appearance. But that in itself would be troubling. Then again, it would be best to not get on his bad side, not until we figure out what his strengths are."

"I’ll ask once again—who’s in charge?"

"I am. And your spar is over, " the General stated matter of factly. There was no slight hesitation in ending it herself.

"Fine." Mikael groaned in exhaustion. Thin streams of blood flowed down his eyes and he lost his bearing for a moment as he felt the lightheadedness set in.

"So, General, I’ve got some questions. I’d appreciate it if you could answer."

"Unless it’s classified information, what would you like to know, lad."

Erica went on to sit and made herself comfortable and by now, the Captain had regained his composure.

The boy’s attack, he noted, was a form soul attack! Very few were mages who could do do! But seeing Mikael bleed in backlash was soothing. It also meant he wasn’t that powerful. Yet.

"A brief world history, if you please. I’d like to uh...replenish my knowledge. It would seem my memories are a bit fuzzy."

The puzzled look that followed was subtle, but shared by all in the tent.

" So.... Seven Saint Bloodline Families, Six Dukes. And an Emperor, for the human realm. The best magic academy is the Silver Arcane Academy is also the best in three realms. And which family has the strongest of these ’Mages and Knights’?"

"Not inclined to answer."

"Thought as much. Jurisdiction over this side?"

"Not your business."

" Really? I could find all these out if I travel though..."

" And I don’t remember saying I was holding you captive or did I?"

Behemoth continuously assessed the lad with caution. And the General seemed very much relaxed with a tea cup in hand. The boy had called himself Mikael after their brief confrontation. And despite him looking like a Novice Rank, he was a bit more powerful than that.

After a while the young man stood and started to leave the tent.

" Your help is very much appreciated, and this ’tea’ was a novel experience, a pleasant one. Oh, and no ’demons’ are alive in that city, so I’d say you can rest assured."

’So, he really hunted all those demons. Just how strong is this teenager? And it seems he didn’t even bother to take their cores to sell.’ Erica thought, ’what a peculiar young man.’

Cores of every race, except those of humans, were practically useful for awakening, as they helped to increase core size to the maximum, leading to advancement and served as cultivation material for refilling mana pools. As such they sold for a lot, especially higher ranked cores.

A top tier Ravager core sold for at least forty gold coins.

’Enough to feed an average family for a few months or four months of rent if you fancy your spots,’ Erica mused.

If he took all the cores, he’d be rich enough to apply for viscountcy. Although the core of demons were not sold publicly, the black markets had high demand for them.

"I already took a few cores from the corpses. It would appear that that is the custom here, am I mistaken?"

Erica smiled. "Seems you’re not aloof about stacking your gold."

"Thank you for your time, Erica."

She was as beautiful as they came, mortals that is. But there was no time for infatuation. And frankly, she didn’t even catch his eye.

’I’ve been surrounded by celestial beauties for a long time. Mortals don’t even stand a chance.’

’Right now, I need to rebuild my Celestial Core so I can begin regaining my powers. And then go beyond that! Transcending the Divine!

’After fighting the demons, I’ve hit a wall. Due to the lack of a Celestial Core, my strength collapsed to Adept Rank proper. Thank goodness for Abysmal Gaze, or I’d have had my ass handed to me by that captain. It would also seem using powers from over there invites some kind of punishment. Must be the non-interference rule.’

"What’s your name again, strong lad?" Behemoth queried once more, making sure to remember him very well.

He turned. "Captain, tell me—when you looked at me, what did you see?"

" A cheeky, arrogant brat who has zero respect for his elders."

"Call me Mikael then. Bye." He left in silence.

"Such an unusual young man, wouldn’t you say, General?" Behemoth scoffed. "General?"

"Send word to the Capital. And get me my appraisers. That lad is coming off as not human to me, we need to be sure. Especially with these troubled times approaching."

"Yes ma’am. Tch, kid. Better stay low, or I’m coming for you," he said, smiling. " But did you tell him the direction to the Capital, General?" Behemoth asked with concern.

" Like I’d do that for a potential threat. Then again, despite how much if a genius he is, there are a few monsters who’d kill him before he could blink. Makes me wish I had told him."

*. *. *. *. *. *. *. *. *. *. *. *. *. *. *. *. *. *. *. *.

"Now, where’s the Capital City located?" General Erica has purposely not revealed any important location during the discussion earlier, leaving him to his imagination and guesses.

Having decided to expend just a little celestial energy, Mikael was ready to run at top speed to the capital to gather his facts and plan on how to proceed.

"It’s almost dark. How quickly the day ends," he muttered. "My first day as a mortal, huh? It wasn’t so bad."

"Better get moving or find somewhere safe to spend the night. According to Adrian’s memories, these dangerous Ravagers always roam close by."

He brought out a few of the cores and began to experiment by absorbing their mana, to increase what he got by a little amount.

And just as he expected, it didn’t take more than a minute. However, after he absorbed them, a stabbing pain hit his chest and at one point, he coughed out blood.

Turns out using his Void Powers was also covered by the Non interference rule. The Goddess really did prepare for him. And throughout his first hours, he noted just one thing. These kind of internal injuries were part of things that ended human lives easily and quickly so it wasn’t a good idea to keep experiencing them. And he also didn’t know exactly what would happen if he died in a mortal body, seeing as the Heavens had greatly prepared for him.

Turning in the supposed general direction of the Capital, he got into a sprinting stance. The color of his eye turned bright red, like a burning flame.

His figure blurred as he shot out into the dark of the forest.

The BOOM only came seconds later after he had taken off, causing trees to snap in half and the ground to crack.

Towards the center of the Realm of Humans.

Supposedly?
