Chapter 1: Chapter 01: The Sovereign of Voids

"How have you been, Sovereign of Voids?"

A gentle voice came from behind. The white-haired childlike entity turned to the owner of the voice. His expression lit up almost instantly. He rose and bowed.

"Goddess! I was not expecting to see you." While her face was covered in a veil, Mikael could feel the smile on her face.

"I just decided to drop in and see what you have been up to these times. So, my child, have you made another discovery?"

"None, Goddess." Mikael sighed. "In fact, I don’t believe I have started anything major in the first place." The reply came a bit quicker, hurried, and it did not escape the notice of the Goddess.

"My child, I made you myself. Out from me, you proceeded. So, do you think you could hide anything from me? Mikael," the Goddess chided.

However, Mikael’s smile still remained plastered on his face, ever bright and playful.

"I would have no reason to hide anything from you, Goddess. I swear it on your name. And in my memories, you could see whatever it is I have been up to ever since."

"It is as you said. Come," she gestured towards her lap as she sat down. "Come sit with me."

The child all but flew into her arms, gently disappearing into her embrace. Silence prevailed as the duo quietly enjoyed each other’s presence.

"Why do you always have a veil over your face all the time, Goddess?"

"It is because I am too pretty. Since I maintain order here, it would not be ideal for chaos to spread as a result of having the most beautiful face."

"But Thiela is so pretty, her face, as well as Orion, Elyndrea, and Sera. Why haven’t they caused chaos?" The boy pouted.

The Goddess nuzzled his hair as she replied. "I am simply above them." The smugness dripping in her voice was evident.

Once again, silence prevailed. And so it reigned. But it didn’t mean they had stopped their discussion. They simply communicated with their minds, both in perfect unison.

It was only after some time had passed did the Goddess finally leave. Mikael traversed back to the heart of his Domain.

A massive, towering palace that seemingly had no beginning nor an end. Around and in the palace, winged figures — celestials, flew around. All paid homage to Mikael as he flew past.

Heading to his private quarters in the palace, inaccessible to even his servants.

There was a massive black hole as the entrance— the Void Entrance, making the quarters seemingly cut off from reality.

At the center of this enclosure, a small piece of a rock like substance rested and floated mid air.

Mikael began pouring in his essence into the fragment, barely noticing how much time had passed, but he stopped when he began to feel lightheaded.

But the fragment had no shown no reaction during the process, other than greedily absorbing his essence.

Clearly displeased with the unresponsiveness of the fragment, Mikael continued with his observation.

"No reaction from the fragment of the Old Gods. As I suspected, it has the ability to alternate memories, making even the Goddess unable to access them. Almost like I have never even been in contact with it."

When Mikael finally exited the chambers, he headed straight to the domain of another Sovereign, Vaelthiela. The Lady of Grief.

Mikael never truly understood what Thiela was known to be the Sovereign of. Albeit she was deemed the one with the greatest foresight, second only to the Goddess herself.

But she did not always seem so comfortable whenever Mikael visited her. This time was no exception.

She sighed in exhaustion and resignation. " And what brings you here once more, child?"

The culprit had already settled in her embrace, uncaring.

"Nothing. I just wanted to talk about how we Celestials came into being. Like aren’t you curious about what we are, where we came from? Or even why we were brought into being? Surely someone as great as yourself don’t believe it was all a coincidence, do you? And, and-"

The child droned on and on. Vaelthiela groaned. Mikael’s curiosity had always left her drained from entertaining it. And he seemed to always dwell on quite sensitive topics.

Sighing once more, she threw in her new weapon of defense!

" These questions should be directed at the Goddess. She is the fountain of every knowledge, isn’t she, Mikael?"

He pouted." You are no fun, Thiela." And with that, he leapt off her lap and continued on his way.

" Bye!"

And so time passed. The fragment never reacted no matter what was thrown at it by Mikael. It simply absorbed whatever.

So it wasn’t long till he had his eureka moment. The ever absorbing fragment gave the Sovereign of Voids a glimpse at what his potential looked like — what he could be. Mikael was elated, although still frustrated.

The possibilities extended to even the other Sovereigns, although Mikael’s pretty much none for the Goddess, as she was the pinnacle of strength, in these current times.

"Current times? Did that mean there was another era, other Sovereigns, and gods? How was this thought even still persisting in his mind?"

"What if I forged a weapon, a weapon powerful enough to go against divinity, and yet subtle and so undetectable and yet....."

A strong approaching presence quickly drew him out of his train of thoughts.

He left the hidden chambers, appearing instantly at the entrance of his domain. The ever familiar immaculate veil made of pure divine energy appeared soon after.

"Mikael, how have you been, child?"

The concern in her voice was clear. " It is reported that you haven’t been in the best of spirits for a while now."

Mikael took a look at himself using his mind.

His face had a quite deep scowl, so deep he wondered for a second about who or what had the face he was looking at!

"What has happened to me?" he wondered aloud, with a frown on his face.

’Is this truly me?’
