Chapter 11: Confession Under The Moon Light
Within the Vaal’kor Colony, appearances could be deceiving.
To an outsider, the chieftain appeared to be the supreme authority. O’nil sat upon the largest throne, received the deepest bows, and carried the oldest bloodline within the colony. Yet Ka’z had lived among them long enough to understand the truth.
The old chieftain was little more than a symbol.
A respected and important one. But still a symbol.
The true strength of the colony rested elsewhere.
Tong’a guided the spirits, interpreted omens, conducted rituals, and maintained the faith that bound the colony together. Meanwhile, Tud’or controlled the hunters, the warriors, the scouts, and every kobold capable of fighting. One commanded belief. The other commanded force.
And force was what ultimately decided survival.
Ka’z remained beneath the tree with his arms folded as he watched the celebration unfold before him. The firelight danced across hundreds of scales while drums echoed throughout the clearing. Laughter rose into the night sky, mixing with the scent of roasted meat and fermented berry wine.
"If I’m going to rule these people, that system needs to change. I need a structure where I can hold more power."
The thought surfaced naturally.
Not because he was power hungry but because he understood the dangers of weakness.
The colony survived by luck more than efficiency. Too many decisions relied upon tradition. Too many responsibilities were divided between competing authorities.
A stronger structure would be needed, a more centralized one.
But before any of that could happen, he needed influence. Before influence came strength and before strength came resources.
Ka’z understood that.
If he wanted to change anything, he first needed to become stronger than everyone else.
The problem was resources.
Quality resources meant stronger equipment, better opportunities, and access to information unavailable to ordinary kobolds.
To obtain those things, he needed freedom. Now that he had officially become a hunter, that freedom finally existed.
The wilderness beyond the colony suddenly felt much closer. Unfortunately, so did the dangers.
At his current level, Ka’z wasn’t foolish enough to think he could survive alone. He knew better than anyone that a Kobold’s greatest advantage wasn’t talent.
It was numbers.
Tu’ka.
Za’r.
Ru’k.
Even Kurg.
Together they were far more dangerous than any of them alone but he didn’t even have complete control of this team, especially because of Tu’ka.
His thoughts were interrupted by a distant sound.
"Ah... haa..."
Ka’z’s ears twitched.
The sound was faint. Barely audible beneath the noise of the celebration.
His eyes narrowed immediately.
"There is someone else here?"
The voice hadn’t come from the colony. It had come from deeper within the forest.
Curiosity quickly replaced caution. Silently pushing himself away from the tree, Ka’z slipped into the darkness.
The sounds of the celebration gradually faded behind him as he moved between ancient trunks and dense undergrowth. Moonlight filtered through gaps in the canopy overhead, creating silver patches across the forest floor.
The strange sounds grew clearer.
Another few minutes passed before Ka’z finally approached the source. Using a thick tree and a cluster of bushes as cover, he carefully peeked ahead.
His eyes widened instantly.
Lady Zira was pressed against a tree while Tud’or held her close. Her arms were wrapped around him and her tail curled tightly around his waist. The two were completely absorbed in one another and oblivious to the world around them.
Lady Zira bit into Tud’or’s neck while his waist kept thrusting with consistent power and forcr that made the tree behind them rattle wildly.
Ka’z immediately pulled his head back
He quietly lowered himself to the ground before turning around and retreating the exact same way he came.
Some things simply weren’t his business.
As he walked, he stared downward with visible annoyance at the size of his thick 4 inch cock standing firmly. His body had reacted before his brain could stop it.
"Wonderful."
The muttered complaint carried no real anger, only embarrassment.
Covering both ears with his hands, Ka’z increased his pace and focused entirely on returning to the celebration.
Several minutes later, the sounds of music and laughter returned. The edge of the colony finally came into view.
Unfortunately, someone was already heading toward him.
"There you are!"
Za’r’s voice carried obvious relief. She hurried toward him with quick steps, her tail swaying nervously behind her.
Ka’z raised a questioning brow. Before he could ask anything, she grabbed his hand.
"Come with me."
"What?"
"Just come."
"Where are we going?"
"Stop asking questions."
Ka’z frowned and Za’r’s grip tightened as she dragged him along.
The memory of what he had just witnessed remained painfully fresh in his mind, making the situation feel considerably more uncomfortable than it probably was.
Still, she refused to let go. With little choice, he followed.
The pair slipped away from the celebration and entered the eastern forest. Unlike before, Za’r seemed to know exactly where she was going.
They moved quickly through winding paths between the trees. The sounds of the party vanished completely behind them.
Nearly twenty minutes later, the forest opened.
Ka’z stopped.
For a brief moment, he forgot how to breathe. Before them stretched a crystal-clear lake reflecting the moonlight above. Thousands upon thousands of fireflies drifted through the air. Some glowed blue. Others green, gold, silver, violet, and crimson. Their lights reflected against the water’s surface, transforming the entire lake into something that looked almost magical.
The gentle breeze carried the scent of fresh water and wild flowers.
The entire scene felt unreal.
"Beautiful," Ka’z muttered.
Za’r nodded immediately.
A faint blush spread across her cheeks. For several moments neither spoke.
The silence wasn’t uncomfortable, just awkward.
Ka’z eventually noticed that she still hadn’t released his hand. In fact, her grip had become tighter, almost trembling.
When he finally looked at her properly, he realized she wasn’t staring at the lake. She was staring at him.
The realization caught him completely off guard.
Za’r swallowed visibly and her tail curled behind her.
"I like you."
The words escaped so quickly they almost blended together. For a moment neither moved. The fireflies continued drifting across the lake and the water continued flowing gently against the shore and Ka’z simply stood there staring at her.
