Chapter 30: Evelyn

Rowan still stood where he had been immobilized, his body frozen by the Guild Master’s precise technique while only his eyes moved with unconcealed fury.

The surrounding Streamers maintained a respectful distance, as no one wished to become involved any further. The Guild Master let out another quiet sigh.

"Someone escort Rowan back to headquarters once the technique wears off."

Several guild members immediately bowed.

"Yes, Guild Master."

Just then, a deep, refined engine note echoed from the road beyond the plaza.

VMMMM—

Everyone instinctively turned toward the sound. A sleek obsidian luxury sedan slowly entered the plaza before coming to a graceful stop near the tower entrance, its body reflecting the afternoon sunlight like polished glass while the silver insignia mounted upon the hood represented one of Metro City’s most prestigious automobile manufacturers. The Phantom LX-9.

A vehicle produced in extremely limited quantities that even wealthy executives often waited months to receive. The moment several guild members recognized it, their expressions immediately straightened.

"The Young Miss..."

"Lady Evelyn has arrived."

The rear passenger door opened. A slender leg stepped onto the pavement first, followed by a young woman dressed far more casually than anyone expected from the daughter of one of Metro City’s most influential Guild Masters.

She wore fitted black jeans beneath a long charcoal coat left partially unbuttoned, a simple white blouse contrasting against the darker colors while polished leather boots completed the outfit.

Then, fastened comfortably around her waist rested a sword. A weapon carried so naturally that it seemed to belong there. Her long black hair flowed gently behind her as she stepped away from the vehicle.

Crimson eyes swept across the plaza. Beautiful, cold, and sharp. The atmosphere shifted almost immediately. Unlike politicians or executives, Evelyn possessed the kind of presence earned through battle rather than business. She wasn’t trying to intimidate anyone. She simply existed.

Her gaze settled upon Rowan first — or rather, the completely motionless Rowan. One elegant eyebrow lifted. She wasn’t surprised, not even slightly. Instead —

"Tch."

A small click of her tongue escaped her lips.

"I expected as much."

Her voice wasn’t loud, yet the nearby Streamers heard it clearly. She slowly walked forward, each step unhurried.

"You acted exactly the way I imagined."

Her crimson eyes remained fixed upon Rowan’s frozen face.

"When Father told me someone had come to purchase the tower, I already guessed you’d make trouble."

Rowan’s eyes widened slightly. Unable to move, he couldn’t even defend himself verbally. Evelyn folded her arms.

"You’ve always been like this."

"If something doesn’t go your way you throw a tantrum."

Several nearby guild members awkwardly looked away, and no one dared interrupt. The Guild Master simply smiled helplessly.

"My dear..."

"You don’t have to be so harsh."

She glanced toward him.

"I’m merely stating facts."

Her tone remained completely matter-of-fact. Then her eyes shifted — past Rowan, past several guild members — until they met Dan’s. For perhaps two seconds, neither looked away. Evelyn blinked.

"..."

A tiny crease appeared between her brows. Dan Moriarty. Calm. His posture remained relaxed despite standing beside several Gold Rank Streamers.

Most importantly, he wasn’t staring at her — and that alone was unusual. Many men either became nervous upon meeting her or attempted to impress her. Dan did neither. He simply observed her with quiet curiosity before giving a polite nod, nothing more. No exaggerated admiration, no awkwardness, just simple courtesy. For reasons she couldn’t immediately explain, that caught her attention.

"...He’s..." The thought surfaced before she consciously realized it. "...rather handsome."

Her gaze lingered perhaps one second longer than necessary — not because she was captivated, not because she had suddenly fallen in love, but simply because she hadn’t expected someone involved in today’s incident to look so... composed.

There was a quiet confidence about him that contrasted sharply with Rowan’s explosive temperament. Only after realizing she had been looking slightly too long did she naturally shift her eyes elsewhere.

Unfortunately, someone noticed. Rowan. Although unable to move, his eyes captured every tiny detail, and his anger, already boiling, exploded internally.

"Lady Evelyn once again.... looked at him. That nobody. That Iron II nobody." The jealousy twisted violently inside him, yet unable to speak while immobilized, all he could do was glare.

The Guild Master quietly noticed everything, including his daughter’s brief pause. He said nothing. Parents often noticed details others overlooked. Evelyn herself remained completely unaware.

Instead she finally looked toward her father, then toward Dan, then back toward the Guild Master, her thoughts quickly organizing themselves. Rowan hadn’t been capable of immobilizing himself, and Dan certainly couldn’t — there was only one possible answer. Father. It had to be Father. She sighed quietly.

"So you stepped in again."

The Guild Master chuckled, "I merely prevented someone from making a lifelong mistake."

She looked once more toward Rowan.

"...He nearly did."

Dan remained silent throughout. This wasn’t his conversation, nor did he intend to interfere. The old saying declared that wise men observed before speaking while fools spoke before observing, and having already provoked Rowan enough for one afternoon, Dan saw no benefit in adding another spark to the fire.

The Guild Master eventually broke the silence.

"Evelyn."

"Hm?"

"I’ve already transferred ownership." ƒreewebηoveℓ.com

"I know," She nodded once. "The documents reached me during the drive."

Her eyes drifted toward the towering black structure behind them.

"The Seven Abyssal Hell Tower belongs to him now."

She spoke the words without resentment. A completed transaction was a completed transaction, and business was business.

Besides, Black Gun Guild needed those Spirit Wine Jars far more than it needed ownership of a tower. She understood that much, even if the decision saddened her slightly.

The Guild Master smiled gently.

"I thought you’d oppose it."

"No," She shook her head. "If the Guild survives because of this sale then it was worth selling."

"I’m glad you understand,* The Guild Master looked pleased.

Another quiet silence followed, as the plaza gradually returned to normal as guild members resumed their duties.

Some escorted Rowan away once the immobilization technique began weakening, others returned toward headquarters, and several curious Streamers still stole occasional glances toward Dan before eventually dispersing. Life moved forward, as it always did. freewebnσvel.cøm

Evelyn turned slightly, preparing to leave. Yet almost unconsciously, her eyes drifted back toward Dan once more. He was already looking at the tower — not at her.

His attention remained completely fixed upon the massive black structure piercing the heavens, and there was something strangely unwavering about his gaze, as though he wasn’t merely looking at a building but toward a future only he could currently see.

She then frowned ever so slightly.

"Why... am I paying so much attention to him?"
