Chapter 28: Chapter 28: Task Assignment
Ye Yun modified the mission again, extending the time to 12 hours.
[Assessment Type: External Exploration]
[Assessing Mission Risk...]
[This will be a 12-hour random exploration.]
[Assessment: White item acquisition probability 76%, Green item 21.55%, Blue item 2.395%, Purple item 0.005%. Risk Factor: 0.001%]
???
The acquisition probabilities for White, Green, and Blue items had all changed.
Only the probability for Purple items remained the same.
’It seems Bena’s hidden attribute doesn’t increase the probability by a certain percentage, but rather provides a fixed 0.005% increase to the acquisition probability of Purple items.’ fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓
The surge of excitement in Ye Yun’s heart subsided slightly.
There was a huge difference between the two possibilities. If Bena’s hidden attribute increased the probability of finding Purple items with longer exploration times, it would absolutely be considered a god-tier hidden attribute.
However, if it was just a guaranteed 0.005% increase, then it dropped from god-tier to merely excellent.
After all, there wasn’t much room for growth with an attribute like that.
But Ye Yun quickly adjusted his mindset.
’It’s a hidden attribute, after all. I should be happy I got it for free.’
’It would be unreasonable to be picky about something I got for nothing.’
Ye Yun reassigned the trio a 4-hour mission. Although the risk factor for a 12-hour exploration was also low, he was willing to give the new member some extra time to get familiar with things.
"Be careful. The communication bracelets have a few minutes of delay."
"No. 1 and No. 2 are just basic androids. Their advanced AI systems are decent at handling normal situations, but they struggle with unexpected events."
"I’ve given you temporary command authority. If any problems arise, you can immediately order No. 1 and No. 2 to disengage and return to the shelter as quickly as possible."
"And don’t worry about leading any danger back to the shelter. The Shelter Entrance has very high defenses; ordinary mutated creatures can’t break through it."
Ye Yun had a lot of trust in Bena, even though he had just joined yesterday.
But he was a person with 100 loyalty, and Ye Yun had great faith in the system’s judgment.
Feeling the Administrator’s deep trust, Bena couldn’t help but feel his eyes grow warm.
He quickly bowed to Ye Yun and said,
"Rest assured, sir. I’ll be sure to bring No. 1 and No. 2 back to the shelter in one piece."
With that, he looked over at his sister nearby.
"Lina, you work hard here in the shelter. Don’t you dare slack off, and follow all of the Administrator’s orders, you hear?"
Lina nodded eagerly.
Lina had only been in the shelter for a little more than half a day, but that short time was enough to make her never want to leave.
There were no swirling sandstorms, no pervasive radiation, and no need to live in constant fear of attacks from unknown origins. There was even sweet, uncontaminated water and delicious food. In her eyes, this shelter was paradise.
Even without her brother’s reminder, she would have absolutely given it her all.
Bena carefully put on his makeshift protective suit. While the thing wasn’t terribly effective, it did offer some protection against high levels of radiation.
After putting on the makeshift protective suit, Bena meticulously checked every fastener and seam to make sure nothing was missed.
He knew that while it was perfectly safe inside the shelter, the outside world was full of unknowns and dangers.
Then, Bena led No. 1 and No. 2 out of the Shelter Entrance.
Outside the door was a desolate wasteland, with sand filling the air and radiation everywhere.
Ye Yun watched until the three figures had completely disappeared before looking away.
He smiled at Lina and gave her her instructions.
"All right, you don’t need to worry."
"Your brother is very strong, and No. 1 and No. 2 have been exploring the wasteland this whole time. They’re elites. Nothing will happen to them."
"You can get to work now. The schedule is the same as before: four hours of production in the water purification room and food workshop, two hours in the power supply room, and one hour set aside for cleaning the shelter. You can rest after that."
If this were the old world, Ye Yun would have been cursed out as a heartless capitalist for scheduling eleven hours of work in one go.
On this wasteland planet, however, eleven hours of easy work was no different from a vacation for its inhabitants.
Watching Lina skip off to work, Ye Yun looked away and opened the chatroom.
[At 80 loyalty, they’ll basically do whatever you tell them to do!]
[Finally, I don’t have to use my own hands anymore. These wasteland refugees are a little thin and a little dark, but otherwise, they’re not bad.]
[Jeez, do you guys know how to do anything besides mess around?]
[What the hell, why do you all have female members? The two who came to my place are both guys!]
[The one I recruited has super high radiation levels. Anyone know how to lower it?]
...
Seeing that more than half of the administrators were discussing such vulgar topics, Ye Yun frowned slightly.
’Are these guys really that dense?’
’Ten million people just died. Instead of thinking about how to use their new shelter members to quickly develop their strength for the next crisis, they’re already letting their minds turn to lust now that their bellies are full?’ fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
Ye Yun shook his head, deciding not to pay any more attention to these meaningless discussions.
...
「Elsewhere.」
Bena stared into the yellow sand, carefully trying to get his bearings.
Soon, a towering building that had been half-destroyed caught his attention.
This was the tallest structure in the vicinity, one that he and his sister used as a landmark for navigation.
With it, he could quickly find his home.
Having confirmed his direction, Bena quickly said to No. 1 and No. 2 beside him,
"Brothers, I’ve found it. Let’s go."
Although he knew No. 1 and No. 2 weren’t real people, after spending a short time with them, he felt that these "bionics"—as the Administrator called them—were more human than most of the people he had ever met.
At the very least, he didn’t have to worry about No. 1 and No. 2 betraying him, nor did he have to worry about them messing up.
No. 1 and No. 2 nodded and immediately fell in behind Bena.
「Half an hour later.」
The three of them carefully arrived at a collapsed ruin.
Bena carefully checked for the small, special markers he had left in the area. Confirming that no one had visited in the day he’d been gone, he breathed a sigh of relief.
He turned to No. 1 and No. 2 and said,
"You two, wait here for me for five minutes. I’m just grabbing something and I’ll be right out."
No. 1 and No. 2 nodded.
"Don’t worry, we’ve got it covered here."
Bena skillfully pushed aside a pile of junk, revealing a pitch-black opening in the ruins.
What looked like a simple ruin actually concealed a sizable underground hollow.
Without hesitating, he carefully made his way down the slope and into the opening.
