Chapter 47: Chapter 46: I’ve Been Tricked

’Liu Xingxing is, after all, an "Ally" I signed a contract with. His Treasure Hunting ability is also very useful. I can’t just stand by and watch the silly kid get killed, can I?’

’Besides, goblins?’ frёewebηovel.cѳm

’An Undead City Lord like me, afraid of goblins? What a joke. I’m protecting Liu Xingxing, so if you’ve got a problem with that, come and fight!’

With over 1,000 Skeleton Undead under his command, Li Ziyu felt no fear at all.

’Back when I only had a few hundred Undead, I dared to fight the Lizardmen. Now I have 1,000 Skeleton Undead. Even if I can’t take down the goblins, I can still make them suffer a huge loss.’

He glanced at the time displayed in the system: just past three in the afternoon.

’Sigh... I really don’t like fighting during the day. The Undead’s combat power is weakened, and it’ll consume a lot of Soul Power. I just hope this Goblin Fortress doesn’t end up being a net loss for me.’

Li Ziyu sighed and issued his command: All Undead, awaken! Enter alert mode! Prepare for battle!

...

THUNK!

WHOOSH—

A thick Crossbow Arrow, attached to a long rope, shot out from the goblin Mobile Fortress. The barbed projectile flew through the air for a moment before falling to the dust. With strange cries, the goblins hauled it back into their fortress, aimed, and fired again.

This was a special tactic for fighting other Mobile Fortresses. If their Crossbow Arrow hit, it would hook on, allowing the Goblin Fortress to use the rope to quickly close the distance and force a siege battle.

However, the two fortresses were quite far apart. They had fired more than ten times along the way, but the Crossbow Arrow always lost its momentum halfway through.

Even so, every time Liu Xingxing saw that thick Crossbow Arrow flying toward him, he broke out in a cold sweat. ’If that thing hits my two-story building, won’t it just punch a hole straight through?’

’Just run. I’ll be safe once I get to the Boss’s location. The Boss said he’d cover me.’

In the distance, he could already see last night’s "construction site." A look of joy spread across his face. ’Finally!’

Leaning against the window, Liu Xingxing poked his head out and looked around. It was completely quiet ahead.

’Where’s the Boss?’

’Where’s the fortress?’

’Where are the Undead?’

’What happened to the backup he promised?’

’Where did everyone go?!’

Liu Xingxing’s heart pounded with anxiety as he quickly sent a message through the system.

[Private Chat]

Treasure Hunting Star: Boss, I’m almost there. Where are you?

Don’t Want to Get a Driver’s License: Just keep moving forward.

Treasure Hunting Star: Roger.

At this point, Liu Xingxing had no other choice. Trusting Li Ziyu was his only way out. Gritting his teeth, he ordered his fortress to continue advancing!

The Goblin City Lord was a fat, greasy middle-aged man named Yu Gangbo. He sat in his main tower, clutching a half-cooked beast leg, and laughed heartily as he gave his orders. "Chase them! Keep chasing! Don’t let that Mobile Fortress get away! I want everything he has!"

In his past life, he was just an ordinary office drone—the kind who bowed and scraped before his superiors while coming down hard on his colleagues. A classic case of someone who bullies the weak and fears the strong. After arriving in the Otherworld and becoming a Goblin Lord, this nature of his was exposed for all to see. After all, goblins are also a Race that bullies the weak and fears the strong.

Yu Gangbo’s life in the Otherworld was pretty mediocre, neither high nor low—he was just getting by. But he never expected to run into a total noob today. And for some reason, this noob City Lord had actually served himself up on a platter, coming right to him. Was there any reason not to attack?

’That’s a Mobile Fortress, after all. If I take it, I can get a lot of materials. Maybe I could even summon more goblins.’

Once he found someone he could bully, he wouldn’t let them go. And so, he gave chase relentlessly.

The Mobile Fortress ahead was faster than his, which annoyed Yu Gangbo. ’Why is a noob’s Mobile Fortress so fast? It’s not fair!’

Watching the Mobile Fortress charge straight ahead, he didn’t have the slightest suspicion and continued to order a relentless pursuit.

He saw the large pits in the ground and could tell they were man-made. But so what?

’Don’t tell me I’m supposed to think that’s a trap? HAHAHA, that’s hilarious. How could someone be that stupid? Even if it were a trap, you’d at least try to hide it a little, right? Leaving it out in the open like that—who do they think is blind? The fortress can move! I can just go around the pits!’

Just as Yu Gangbo was thinking this, the earth suddenly trembled. The ground before him split open, soil surging outward like ocean waves. A white structure slowly rose up, positioning itself perfectly between the Goblin Fortress and the Treasure-Hunting Catman Fortress, separating the two.

"Hm? What’s this?" Yu Gangbo tossed aside the beast leg in his hand, sat up straight, and sized up the rising structure.

Without needing his command, the goblins scrambled to halt the Mobile Fortress, terrified of crashing into it. That structure looked much tougher than their own fortress.

The Skeleton Undead Mobile Fortress disengaged its Hibernation Mode, rising from beneath the ground. A vast shadow fell over the Goblin Fortress. It bristled with bleached bones, dotted with the pinpoint blue flames of burning Soul Fires.

A ghastly, solemn, and terrifying aura began to spread.

GULP. After getting a clear look at the structure before him, Yu Gangbo swallowed hard. His eyes bulged, and his mouth hung slightly open.

"Un... Undead?!"

’Just how many Undead would it take to build a fortress this big? Look at the sheer number of bones, look at the thickness of those walls... It’s stronger than mine by a long shot.’

’Why would an Undead Fortress appear here?!’

’Could it be... could it be that this is the real trap?’

’They were trying to lure me here?’

Three words now echoed in his mind: I’ve been had!

Li Ziyu stood at his window, looking down at the Goblin Fortress. Just as he’d expected—those little green-skinned runts really were goblins.

The corners of his mouth curled up into a savage grin. He waved his hand and gave the order, "Attack."

That single, simple word brought the fortress to life. The previously still Skeleton Undead stirred, clawing at the walls before detaching themselves. Brandishing their Weapons, they charged toward the Goblin Fortress. Some, after breaking free from the walls, simply leaped down. The two fortresses were close, after all; jumping was faster and more convenient.

"Holy shit! Run!"

Staring at the dense swarm of Undead pouring toward them, Yu Gangbo completely lost his nerve. He violently slapped a goblin beside him, shocking it to its senses.

The goblins snapped out of it too. They didn’t dare fight the Undead—it was a fear buried deep in their souls. The goblins went wild, scrambling to get the fortress moving and escape.

Unfortunately, they were too close. The Undead swarmed onto their fortress in no time.

"Quick, quick, quick! Don’t let them in! Knock them off! Turn around, now!" Yu Gangbo shrieked hysterically, like a pig that knows it’s about to be slaughtered.

Though terrified, the goblins still picked up their weapons and, with strange cries, met the charge of the Skeleton Undead.

Bullying Liu Xingxing and his two Catmen was one thing, but against the Undead, the goblins were completely outmatched. Especially since they were outnumbered. Their weapons made CLANKING sounds as they struck the Undead, but they were completely ineffectual. When the Undead’s weapons fell upon them, however, blood splattered, and they howled in agony.

Li Ziyu stood high above, watching the chaotic battle below with cold indifference. He didn’t feel a single ripple in his heart.

’This is the Otherworld. It’s a dog-eat-dog world.’

’If the other party hadn’t been hunting Liu Xingxing, they wouldn’t have ended up like this. I wouldn’t normally attack another City Lord without reason, but since they already made their move, I don’t need to be polite.’

’Might makes right, and the winner takes all. There’s nothing more to be said.’

The Goblin Fortress slowly started up, turned around, and began to move away from the Undead Fortress...
