Chapter 153: Chapter 113: Pure-blooded Fox People
"Yes, Master of the Undead. They are the Fox Maidens who died in the battle all those years ago. May I ask what exactly happened?" King Borhan asked, seeing that Li Ziyu had calmed down.
"I’d quite like to know what’s going on myself," Li Ziyu said, his tone playful as he nodded his head toward the Fox Maidens. "Why don’t you ask them why they’re pestering me."
’Have they provoked the Master of the Undead?’
King Borhan turned, his expression instantly becoming terrifying as he stared coldly at the four Fox Maidens. If they didn’t properly explain their actions, he wouldn’t hesitate to obliterate their souls right in front of the Master of the Undead.
’It was so hard to finally escape the confines of the Wraith Mountain Range and see the outside world. I absolutely cannot let a few Fox Maidens ruin this.’
"What happened?" King Borhan asked, his voice low.
The four Fox Maidens had once been of the Royal Family, beings who stood above millions. If not for the Soul Coffin, they wouldn’t even fear Li Ziyu, let alone King Borhan. They kept their heads down, not uttering a sound in silent protest.
"You won’t speak?"
With his back to Li Ziyu, King Borhan’s form shifted, revealing his terrifying Wandering Soul visage. This meant he was angry.
He opened his palm, and a Longsword was slowly drawn from the Void. This was no blade of condensed Soul Power, but a true Longsword—it was his former Weapon, the Sword of the King!
"Saler! What are you doing!" Sensing the intense killing intent, the Fox Maiden with White Hair lifted her head and snapped.
King Borhan, Saler Borhan, gripped the Sword of the King, its tip resting on the ground. "Tell the Master of the Undead what he wants to know. Otherwise, I will not hesitate to obliterate you. This hope, which we have waited countless years to see, will not be ruined by you."
"Saler, you dare! We are the Fox Maidens of Balfeite!" the beautiful Fox Maiden shrieked, lifting her head abruptly, her eyes burning with fury.
The Sword of the King drew a cold arc through the air, its tip coming to rest against the beautiful Fox Maiden’s neck. Saler spoke slowly, "Balfeite is no more. The Borhan Kingdom is also no more. We are Wandering Souls!"
A flash of sorrow crossed his eyes, but it was instantly replaced by an icy coldness.
’It’s been countless years. Haven’t you moved on? Are you still clinging to the memories of what once was?’
’Feuds between our kingdoms, grudges between our houses... none of it exists anymore! The four kingdoms are gone! Even we have been cast aside by the river of history. Our own descendants don’t even remember us!’
’We are just trapped Wandering Souls. The Master of the Undead is the one who brought us out. Why must you provoke him?!’
After so many years together, Saler had no desire to raise his Weapon against the Fox Maidens, who had become his kin. But they were the ones reckless enough to provoke the Master of the Undead.
After becoming Wandering Souls, they existed in soul form and had essentially left Weapons and Armor behind. Only an exceptionally special Weapon like the Sword of the King could still be wielded, and it was Saler’s ultimate advantage against other Wandering Souls.
’You don’t have one, but I do. Not only do I have a Weapon, but this Weapon can actually harm you. So, are you scared yet?’
It was by relying on the Sword of the King that he had been able to suppress the other Wandering Souls for so many years. It was why none of them dared to cause trouble in his presence.
"You... you’re really going to move against us?" the innocent-looking Fox Maiden asked, raising her head to stare at Saler in disbelief. ’They had been together for so many years, yet now, because of a single sentence from a Human, he was drawing his Sword on them.’
"Answer, or die?" Saler did not waver. He had to have an answer.
"Alas..." With a long, faint sigh, the charming Fox Maiden lifted her head. "Saler, put your Sword away. We’ll talk."
Saler breathed a sigh of relief. ’Just as I’d expect from the Fox People,’ he thought. ’They’re clever. They know when not to put up a fight. As long as they talk, this won’t be a big problem.’ He had observed a moment ago that while the Master of the Undead was certainly angry, he showed no intention of destroying the Fox Maidens.
The Sword of the King slowly moved away from the beautiful Fox Maiden’s neck. Saler reverted to his normal appearance and took a small step aside, clearing a path for the charming Fox Maiden.
