Chapter 150: Chapter 112: Wandering Souls’ Outing
’What’s the City Lord doing? Is he communicating with the Wandering Souls?’
’Well, it’s possible. After all, he commands the Undead, so maybe there’s a connection.’
Hearing Li Ziyu’s shout, the Wandering Souls in the sky came to their senses. They reined in their auras, growing peaceful and no longer running rampant. Only then did the surrounding temperature slowly begin to rise.
"My apologies, we got a bit too excited," King Borhan said sheepishly, landing in front of Li Ziyu.
"I understand, but take a look at them," Li Ziyu said with a wry smile. "I’ll let you all out more often in the future, but you can’t disturb the people living here."
"Very well. I understand. I’ll speak with them." King Borhan’s figure floated up once more, returning to the ranks of the Wandering Souls to relay Li Ziyu’s words.
The Wandering Souls were naturally delighted to have a chance to get out and stretch their legs, so to speak. They readily agreed to Li Ziyu’s conditions, breaking up their formation and scattering in whatever direction caught their fancy.
After leaving the Wraith Mountain Range, they could only appear at night.
As pure Soul Bodies, appearing in the daytime was tantamount to suicide. The sunlight could utterly obliterate them, scattering their souls to the wind. For this reason, they were even more vulnerable than the Undead during the day, not daring to leave the protection of their Soul Coffins in the slightest.
The Minotaurs looked up, watching the Wandering Souls scatter across the sky, and breathed a collective sigh of relief. ’The Lord City Lord really knows what he’s doing. Just one word from him and the Wandering Souls backed off.’
But they had only exhaled half that sigh when they spotted several hundred streaks of green light flying straight toward them. They immediately sucked the other half of their breath back in.
’Wh-wh-wh-why are they coming over here?!’
The several hundred green lights descended, taking the form of Wandering Souls. The Minotaurs were stunned. ’Are those... Ancestors?!’
The several hundred Wandering Souls that had descended upon the Tabu Tribe were, to their astonishment, several hundred Wraith Soul Minotaurs. They formed a circle around all the members of the Tabu Tribe.
"Hey, little ones!" A toweringly large Wraith Soul Minotaur with horns like a water buffalo waved a hand at them.
The Tabu Tribe Minotaurs dumbly raised their own hands, waving back in response. Every single one of them was completely stupefied.
’You wouldn’t believe it if we told you, but the very Ancestors we’ve always worshipped just appeared right in front of us. And they even said hello.’
The Wraith Soul Minotaur was overjoyed to be able to see his kinsmen again after death. He had waited for countless years. ’It’s so good to see living members of our Tribe.’
His form drifted forward, coming to a stop before the Tabu tribespeople. He didn’t get too close, wary that the cold Death Qi clinging to him might harm them. Rubbing his chin, he curiously sized up the Minotaurs before him.
"Why are you all... so skinny?" he asked after a moment’s thought. "Is it because you aren’t eating well? You should eat more fresh grass and tender tree sprouts. Oh, and crimson flowers taste great and have a nice texture..."
Once he started, the floodgates opened. The Wraith Soul Minotaur was like a grandmother seeing her grandson for the first time, chattering away without a pause.
The Tabu Minotaurs were dumbfounded. ’This is an Ancestor? A motor-mouthed Ancestor?’
Moved?
They were too scared to move! That was an Ancestor, after all. Interrupting him would be the height of disrespect. So they just stood there and listened, even though they had never eaten—heck, never even *seen*—any of the things their Ancestor was describing. Crimson flowers? They’d never even heard of them.
Another Wraith Soul Minotaur floated forward. He was much shorter than the previous one and not as powerfully built, but his body was covered in blue markings that looked just like lightning.
He ignored the other Minotaurs and drifted directly in front of Tas Tuling. After looking him up and down, he asked with some hesitation, "Are you... a child of the Thunder Bull Tribe?"
Upon seeing the Wraith Soul Minotaur covered in markings, Tas Tuling trembled and bowed respectfully. "Tas Tuling of the Tabu Tribe pays his respects, Ancestor. My father was a member of the Thunder Bull Tribe, and my mother is a Shaman."
