Chapter 144: Chapter 110: Bountiful Harvest

"Got it. Rest assured, I’ll handle it." Since one of his own subordinates had erred, Nado couldn’t say much more and simply had to swallow his frustration.

Panok had taken with him the thousand-plus members of the Headhunter Race and over five thousand goblins that had previously assembled. This instantly halved the numbers of the planned 20,000-strong Vanguard Army. They were now scrambling to muster their forces again.

Momonai, on the other hand, was the steady type. He waited dutifully at the Vanguard Army’s assembly point. His Lizardman forces were almost fully assembled, numbering over 2,800. The goblins were also moving quickly; even though Panok had led five thousand away, they were not difficult to replace. There were now over ten thousand at the assembly point, with even more goblins on the way.

The main shortfall was with the Headhunter Race; they would have to be mustered all over again. Nado had issued the order several days ago, and new Headhunter Race contingents were now on their way.

The Vanguard Army comprised twenty thousand troops, but the Cancerous Tumor Alliance Army’s true numbers were three hundred thousand—and likely more, not less!

Their goal was not only to completely annihilate the Undead but also to flex their muscles and display their Power to the entire Wasteland. In fact, the Three Races harbored an even greater ambition: if this collaboration went smoothly, they wanted to make a bid, using the Alliance Army’s advantage to push into the Central Region and carve out a piece of territory for themselves.

If they could establish a firm foothold in the Central Region, they would rewrite the history of the Three Races. They would no longer be some damn "Cancerous Tumor" Race, but a true Strong Race!

...

"Yaaawn... Morning, Zhang Peng!"

Liu Xingxing emerged from the main building of his fortress, yawning and stretching lazily. The cool breeze made him shiver, jolting him awake. Spotting Zhang Peng, who had also just emerged nearby, he greeted him with a sunny smile.

Hearing Liu Xingxing, Zhang Peng turned to look. His eyes, rimmed with dark circles from exhaustion, settled on him as he nodded. "Still sleepy? You can go back to bed for a bit."

"Er..." Liu Xingxing was momentarily speechless, but he laughed and ran over, slinging an arm around Zhang Peng’s shoulders. "It’s a brand-new day, a day filled with energy! What are your plans?"

Zhang Peng stared into Liu Xingxing’s eyes and pointed to his own dark circles. "Do I look like I’m filled with energy?"

"Ummm... If you didn’t roast me, we could still be friends." Liu Xingxing felt helpless. ’He’s a Merchant, shouldn’t he be smooth and tactful? Why does he love to jab at people, and why am I always the one on the receiving end!?’

After teasing Liu Xingxing a bit, Zhang Peng grew serious. "I’m planning to scout the area and contact the surrounding Tribes to open up new trade routes. What about you? Are you staying home all day and not going out?"

At this, Liu Xingxing swelled with pride. He planted his hands on his hips and puffed out his chest. "Of course not! I’m going out exploring. I’m a City Lord with two hundred Catmen under my command now! Skulking around isn’t my style. Since I’m a Treasure Hunter, I have to have a spirit of adventure!"

For some reason, the sight of a smug Liu Xingxing rubbed Zhang Peng the wrong way. He drawled, "Oh. You have fewer Catmen than I have Gophers. Besides, your new Catmen aren’t as good-looking as those first two. At best, they’re just intelligent pets. You’re taking two hundred combat-ineffective pets on an adventure? That must be so hard for you."

PFFT—

PFFT—

Liu Xingxing froze on the spot. He felt as if two arrows had just pierced his chest.

"Zhang Peng! I’m gonna kill you!"

Liu Xingxing couldn’t take it anymore. He let out a yell and charged at Zhang Peng. But Zhang Peng, having predicted his reaction, had already slipped away while Liu Xingxing was stunned. The two of them began to roughhouse playfully on the platform. A Minotaur watched from the side, laughing heartily at the spectacle. Hearing the commotion, the rambunctious children of the household ran out as well, trailing behind the two men and laughing happily. It was a scene of pure, chaotic joy.
