Chapter 37: Chapter 19: Territory Planning 1
Seeing that the Urban Planning Bureau was working as he had hoped, Lin Yu immediately sketched out the plans he had been formulating for days.
First, he designated the outermost 5-kilometer-deep ring as the defensive line, covering an area of 1,805.5 square kilometers.
On land, the main defenses would be Nuts, their upgraded form High Nuts, Earth Spikes, and their upgraded form Steel Earth Spikes.
These would be supplemented by Potato Mines, Big-Mouthed Flowers, Charming Mushrooms, Sad Mushrooms, and Cacti.
The Earth Spikes and Nuts would be placed on the absolute perimeter to obstruct any outsiders who might wander into the territory by mistake.
Any outside beasts that entered the territory would naturally be converted under his ’Natural Dominion’ trait, becoming ordinary beast-type denizens.
They would then automatically receive a message, stop in their tracks, and wait for a passing patrol to escort them away.
-----------------
[Name]: Earth Spike
[Type]: Defensive Structure (Plant-type)
[Description]: Subterranean thorns that lie in wait. The spikes protruding from the ground are disguised as grass. When a hostile creature comes within one square meter, the spikes harden and attack.
[Attack Frequency]: 0.5 sec/attack
[Attack Power]: 10
[Durability]: 300
[Construction Requirements]: 1,000 Wood, 1,000 Spiritual Energy
[Unlock Requirements]: 50 Gold Coins
-----------------
[Name]: Nut
[Type]: Defensive Structure (Plant-type)
[Description]: A sturdy shield capable of protecting other plants. It can generate a spatial barrier two meters high and one meter wide, centered on itself (only affects enemies). The Nut itself is the barrier’s only weak point; destroying it will make the barrier disappear.
[Durability]: 4,000
[Construction Requirements]: 500 Wood, 500 Spiritual Energy
[Unlock Requirements]: 100 Gold Coins
-----------------
High Nuts and Steel Earth Spikes would be placed a little farther back to increase the difficulty of entering the forest, persuading any insistent adventurers to turn back.
-----------------
[Name]: Steel Earth Spike
[Type]: Defensive Structure (Plant-type)
[Description]: ...An evolved form of the Earth Spike with stronger attacks.
[Attack Frequency]: 0.5 sec/attack
[Attack Power]: 20
[Durability]: 1,000
[Upgrade Requirements]: 2,500 Wood, 2,500 Spiritual Energy, 10 Gold Coins
-----------------
[Name]: High Nut
[Type]: Defensive Structure (Plant-type)
[Description]: ...An evolved form of the Nut with higher durability. It can generate a spatial barrier ten meters high and one meter wide, centered on itself (only affects enemies).
[Durability]: 8,000
[Upgrade Requirements]: Nut, 2,500 Wood, 2,500 Spiritual Energy, 10 Gold Coins
-----------------
Charming Mushrooms would also be interspersed throughout, their primary function still being deterrence.
-----------------
[Name]: Charming Mushroom
[Type]: Defensive Structure (Plant-type)
[Description]: A mushroom with a beautiful appearance and hallucinogenic properties. When an enemy steps within a one-square-meter radius, it releases its spores, causing the target to hallucinate. Mild cases result in visions; severe cases can cause one to lose their sense of self. It perishes immediately after releasing its spores.
[Durability]: 50
[Construction Requirements]: 1,500 Wood, 1,500 Spiritual Energy
[Unlock Requirements]: 100 Gold Coins
-----------------
Over the next four kilometers, in addition to High Nuts, Steel Earth Spikes, and Charming Mushrooms, the density of Potato Mines, Big-Mouthed Flowers, Sad Mushrooms, and Cacti would gradually increase. In the final kilometer of the defensive line (from the four- to five-kilometer mark), all normal vegetation, aside from trees, would be completely replaced by defensive plants.
However, with the exception of the Cactus—which was tasked with the critical role of anti-air defense and could deal ranged damage to both ground and air units—the rest of the plants were primarily melee-based, with their main function still being defense.
-----------------
[Name]: Big-Mouthed Flower
[Type]: Defensive Structure (Plant-type)
[Description]: A carnivorous flower with a huge maw. It can swallow small- to medium-sized creatures, dealing damage per second to the creature inside. Once the creature’s health is depleted, it is sent to the root system to be absorbed as nutrients.
[Attack Frequency]: 1 sec/attack
[Attack Power]: 200
[Defense]: 1,000 (Internal)
[Durability]: 500
[Construction Requirements]: 1,500 Wood, 1,500 Spiritual Energy
[Unlock Requirements]: 100 Gold Coins
-----------------
[Name]: Gloom Mushroom
[Type]: Defensive Structure (Plant-type)
[Description]: An evolved form of the Giant Mushroom with a larger attack range. When an enemy enters the nine-square-meter area around it, it fires a large number of Spiritual Spores in all directions.
[Attack Frequency]: 0.7 sec/attack, 4 shots/attack
[Attack Power]: 100x4
[Range]: 3m x 3m
[Durability]: 500
[Upgrade Requirements]: 2,500 Wood, 2,500 Spiritual Energy, 10 Gold Coins
-----------------
[Name]: Cactus
[Type]: Defensive Structure (Plant-type)
[Description]: Originally a desert plant, this cactus can now grow on any type of land. It can attack both ground and air units. When an enemy enters its range, it fires penetrating spikes. When an enemy gets within one square meter, the Cactus retracts underground and functions as an Earth Spike, damaging ground enemies.
[Attack Frequency]: 1.4 sec/attack, 1 shot/attack
[Attack Power]: 30 (Cactus Spike) / 10 (Earth Spike)
[Attack Range]: 200m / 1m
[Targets Penetrated]: 1–3
[Durability]: 500
[Construction Requirements]: 1,750 Wood, 1,750 Spiritual Energy frёeωebɳovel.com

Within the bodies of water in this five-kilometer zone, Lin Yu deployed large quantities of Entangling Seaweed.
-----------------
[Name]: Entangling Seaweed
[Type]: Defensive Structure (Plant-type)
[Description]: A silent killer that grows in water. When an enemy enters its domain (within one square meter), it will wrap around the target, drag it into the depths, and inflict damage. Unfortunately, it is rather fragile. A struggling enemy can cause it to break apart and die.
[Attack Frequency]: 1 sec/attack
[Attack Power]: 400
[Durability]: 50
[Construction Requirements]: 500 Wood, 500 Spiritual Energy
-----------------
The bodies of water in the latter half of the defensive line were densely packed with Cat’s Tail Grass.
Cat’s Tail Grass is an amphibious plant that can survive on both land and water.
It can also attack water, land, and air targets, filling in the gaps in the land-based defenses.
-----------------
[Name]: Cat’s Tail Grass
[Type]: Defensive Structure (Plant-type)
[Description]: An amphibious plant that can be built on land or in water. It can attack water, ground, and air units. It fires Guiding Needles at enemies, and its attacks have a chance to cause paralysis.
[Attack Frequency]: 7.5 sec/attack, 1 shot/attack
[Attack Power]: 3,600
[Range]: 5,000m (Lock-on tracking)
[Durability]: 1,000
[Construction Requirements]: 5,000 Wood, 5,000 Spiritual Energy

Behind this five-kilometer defensive line was the territory’s resource production zone: a 21-kilometer-wide ring stretching from 55 kilometers to 34 kilometers away from the World Tree.
This area primarily housed Element Collection Workshops for the five elements—Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth. These workshops had to be placed according to the territory’s elemental distribution to maximize efficiency.
There were also Elemental Crystal Condensers, which similarly needed to be built in areas with the highest concentration of elemental energy.
For someone like Lin Yu, who had a compulsion for maximizing efficiency when playing simulation games, this was the most tedious and time-consuming task of all. Fortunately, he could now hand it all over to the little fairies of the Urban Planning Bureau.
At the same time, orchards were interspersed throughout this area, used for growing and harvesting various fruit trees to provide food for the entire territory.
Within a 200-meter radius around each resource building, the following defenses were arranged in layers from the outside in: Steel Earth Spikes, High Nuts, Big-Mouthed Flowers, Squashes, Gloom Mushrooms, Cacti, and Cat’s Tail Grass.
The placement density increased from 50% at the perimeter to 100% closer to the building. The primary goal was to prevent these resource structures from being easily destroyed during an invasion and to slow the enemy’s advance.
