Chapter 283: Recognition
The chaos of battle still lingered with so many monster carcasses below.
After all, unlike the other games, the creatures’ bodies wouldn’t just dissipate into specks of light...
They had to be processed first.
Just like that, Reverie Town’s defenders moved quickly, dragging the corpses of beasts toward the dismantling yards.
Skilled workers with blades and tools began stripping hides, horns, and cores from the monsters, their movements efficient and practiced.
There was the smell of blood mixed with the salty breeze, but the townsfolk carried on as if this were routine.
Kai, or Traceless, watched from the wall, fascinated by what was happening.
The town seemed to be used to such events.
"This is definitely not a Beginner Town." He muttered to himself.
In any case, it was already shifting back into order.
’Right... I should register now...’
He recalled that if he wanted to truly benefit from this place, he needed to do the normal thing... register as a resident.
Without registration, players were treated as outsiders.
They could trade, but they wouldn’t receive discounts, couldn’t accept official jobs, and had no rights to request town services.
Becoming a resident meant access to benefits like cheaper supplies, missions from the Adventurer’s Guild, and even the chance to rise into official positions.
Traceless made his way through the bustling streets toward the Town Hall.
The building stood tall in the central square with its stone walls designed with some sculptures that made him recall those medieval-style or gothic-style arts....
Inside, clerks worked behind counters, processing lines of residents or even adventurers.
He stepped forward when his turn came.
A clerk looked up, scanning him briefly.
"Name?"
"Traceless," He replied.
The clerk nodded... Soon, he received information about the town mayor, officers, laws, and others before he received a map, and just like that, the clerk tapped into a glowing ledger.
Then, a blue screen appeared before him...
[ Registration Complete ]
[ Title Acquired: Reverie’s Resident ]
[ Effects: Local shop discounts (10%), access to town services, eligibility for Adventurer’s Guild missions, ability to receive special requests from townsfolk. ]
Kai’s eyes lit up. "So this is how it should be..."
The clerk handed him a stamped parchment. "You’re now officially part of Reverie Town. Head to the Adventurer’s Guild if you want missions."
Kai thanked him and left, heading toward the guild...
The Adventurer’s Guild was a large hall near the marketplace, its doors wide open.
Inside, adventurers, or players in this case, gathered around mission boards, discussing contracts and rewards.
It felt real...
There was the smell of ink and parchment, mixed with the faint aroma of ale from the tavern next door.
Kai approached the mission board. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm
Sheets of parchment were pinned neatly, each glowing faintly with system recognition.
He scanned through them carefully.
Some were simple requests.:
[ Mission: Gather 20 horned wolf pelts.
Reward: 50 Experience Points, 10 Silver. ]
***
[ Mission: Escort merchant caravan to nearby village.
Reward: 100 Experience Points, 20 Silver. ]
***
[ Mission: Clear one of the mutated grasshoppers’ nests near the forest.
Reward: 150 Experience Points, 1 Healing Potion. ]
After these simple missions, he found others that were more dangerous...
[ Mission: Hunt tri-horned armored boar.
Reward: 1,200 Experience Points, 1 Stamina Potion, 50 Silver. ]
[ Mission: Collect 25 horns from a three-headed Impala.
Reward: 1,000 Experience Points, 3 Gold. ]
Kai knew he could also accept quests directly from townsfolk... There might be hidden quests that could yield rare rewards... but for now, he wanted stability. Missions from the guild were reliable, with clear objectives and guaranteed payouts.
Well, he needed some spending money first!
Then his eyes caught something unusual.
[ Mission: Assist the Guard Captain in training recruits.
Reward: 250 Experience Points, 1 Skill Scroll of choice. ]
Kai’s heart skipped.
A Skill Scroll?
That was exactly what he needed. Of course, he didn’t know how great these scrolls were before, but after seeing their effects, he knew that he needed to obtain them!
Skills were the foundation of power, and gaining one through a mission was far more valuable than silver or potions.
He reached out, pressing his hand against the parchment. The system responded instantly.
[ Mission Accepted: Assist the Guard Captain in training recruits. ]
[ Objective: Participate in drills, demonstrate combat techniques, and support Guard Recruits ]
[ Reward: 250 Experience Points, 1 Skill Scroll from the Guard Captain’s collection. ]
Kai grinned. "Perfect. This is what I was looking for."
He stepped back from the board, excitement bubbling inside him.
The town had settled after the chaos, and now he was officially part of it. He had discounts, access to services, and the ability to take missions.
More importantly, he had just secured a path toward another skill.
As he left the guild hall, he swiftly went to visit the Guard Captain.
Of course, Kai could also easily purchase some Gene Skill Crystals from the Gene Traders. However, those Skill Crystals were quite random. He didn’t really know what to get. Even the Beast Arm felt a little random to him, and he might fuse it to something else.
For now, he wanted to obtain Gene Skills in this game that could be a bit more appropriate for better fusion results.

Meanwhile, outside in the real world, the atmosphere in Blue Grass Shelter was lively.
Vera and the others were celebrating, their spirits high after securing Auction Tokens.
Thanks to Kai’s generous plan of letting them convert the resources he had taken out earlier, they had managed to gather a significant amount of Survivor Medals.
"Haha! We did it! We will be able to participate in the Auction!"
Vera now held seventy medals, while the others had collected between forty and fifty each. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com
The sense of opportunity was immense... Everyone knew these medals would be crucial in the upcoming Auction Event.
The excitement didn’t end there.
"T-they’re here..."
Apparently, a merchant caravan arrived at the shelter, an occurrence that only happened when a settlement was deemed safe enough to host trade!
Wagons rolled in carrying goods, tools, and supplies with their banners fluttering in the wind.
Just like that, survivors rushed to greet the merchants, eager to barter and stockpile.
For Blue Grass Shelter, this wasn’t just a simple trading event... it was a sign of growth, stability, and recognition from the System!
