Chapter 551: Chapter 551: Conditions
"As long as I remain unmarried, Lana will not be officially acknowledged."
Thessy leaned back slightly.
"If any of you continue exposing my identity or attempt to pressure me further, I will harm myself."
As she spoke, she looked at everyone present as though they were complete strangers.
As though they were enemies.
Within a single day, she seemed like an entirely different person.
Even Philips, who had planned on treating her gently, was caught off guard.
He unconsciously rubbed his fingers together.
Finally, Conrad slammed his hand onto the table.
The loud bang echoed throughout the room.
"So this is the path you’ve chosen?" he demanded.
Thessy laughed bitterly.
A hollow, exhausted laugh.
"Anyway, I don’t have anything left anymore."
Her eyes slowly swept across everyone present.
"You people will never understand my situation."
Her voice grew softer.
"If you were in my position, maybe you would have shown a little more compassion."
She clenched her fists.
"You all keep saying that revealing the truth was the best thing that could happen."
Fresh tears appeared in her eyes. "But look at what’s happening now."
She gestured toward everyone present.
"The moment the truth came out, all of you immediately started planning how to remove me."
The tears rolled down her cheeks.
Yet she stubbornly wiped them away. Nobody spoke.
Conrad suddenly chuckled.
The sound carried no warmth whatsoever.
"Twist reality however you want."
His gaze was icy. "As for your conditions, we won’t agree to a single one."
His words struck like a hammer. "Everything belongs to Lana."
Thessy’s body trembled. Conrad remained expressionless.
"If you’re thinking of threatening the entire family just so Lana receives nothing, then go ahead."
The moment he finished speaking, the last trace of hope inside Thessy’s heart shattered.
She stared at him in disbelief.
For years, she had admired him. For years, she had viewed him as a dependable brother.
Now all she saw was a stranger.
A stranger who was willing to discard her without hesitation.
Her eyes turned red.
"You really are a good brother, aren’t you?" she mocked bitterly.
Then her voice suddenly rose. "But now you’re nothing more than a fool!"
"If I were in her place, did you think about how much I would have suffered? No?"
A bitter smile appeared on her face. Conrad crossed his arms and replied coldly.
"That’s your problem."
Thessy’s eyes widened. "No, it’s not my problem."
Before she could continue, Thompson calmly interrupted.
"You already possess five percent of the Peterson family’s shares under your name. Keep them. In exchange, you only need to promise that you won’t harm yourself in the future so Lana won’t be affected by your actions."
Thessy suddenly chuckled. The sound was filled with mockery.
"Do you think I’m some kind of beggar?"
Thompson leaned back in his chair. A faint smile appeared on his face.
"Well, I investigated your biological family."
His eyes narrowed.
"And I discovered that they are indeed beggars. So in a way, you are one too."
The moment those words left his mouth, they struck like a knife.
Thessy’s eyes immediately reddened. Her lips trembled.
"Oh, so now I’m the beggar’s daughter?"
Thompson slowly shook his head. "No."
His voice became colder. "To be precise, you’re the daughter of human traffickers."
Thompson continued without mercy.
"Anyway, I’m planning to put every member of your biological family behind bars."
His gaze remained fixed on her. "Do you have any objections?"
Thessy remained silent.
In truth, this outcome benefited her greatly.
Those people had never treated her as family.
However, she could not reveal that to the Peterson family.
If they believed she still cared, perhaps they would soften their stance and offer more concessions.
As a result, she deliberately maintained an expression of hesitation.
Seeing her silence, Thompson chuckled.
"It seems you care about your biological family."
He folded his hands together.
"If that’s the case, I won’t stop you from reuniting with them."
A playful smile appeared on his face.
"I’ve already invited them here."
The moment he spoke those words, Thessy’s face turned pale.
Fear flashed across her eyes.
"Would you like me to bring them in?"
Thessy immediately shook her head. "No."
Her answer came far too quickly.
"I don’t want to meet them."
She clenched her fists tightly.
The memories of those monsters immediately surfaced in her mind.
"Just put them in prison."
Thompson studied her for a few moments before giving a faint nod. "As you wish."
The matter was settled.
Only then did Thessy secretly release a sigh of relief.
Her tense shoulders finally relaxed slightly.
Once the negotiation ended, she stood up and prepared to leave.
However, Phillips suddenly grabbed her wrist.
"Thessy, don’t go."
His voice carried desperation. "Tell me."
His eyes were filled with concern. "Tell me all of this is just a misunderstanding."
He tightened his grip slightly.
"You’re acting too differently. Something must be bothering you."
His voice softened.
"Maybe we can solve everything together."
Even now, Phillips remained trapped in his own illusion.
He still believed his sister had merely lost her way for a moment.
He believed she could still return. Thessy looked at him.
A complicated emotion flashed through her eyes. Slowly, she removed his hand from hers.
Without another word, she turned around and left. Meanwhile, Conrad snorted coldly.
Looking at Phillips, he shook his head.
"One day you’ll be sold by someone, and you’ll probably help them count the money afterward."
Phillips ignored him completely.
His expression remained gloomy as he exited the meeting room.
Seeing this, Melody immediately followed after him.
Conrad frowned. He then turned toward Thompson. ƒгeewebnovёl.com
"Father, this negotiation failed."
His voice was firm. "I believed that it wouldn’t be long before she would start acting up."
His eyes narrowed thoughtfully. "We should do something."
Thompson slowly nodded. "I agree."
Outside the meeting room, Phillips finally caught up with Thessy. "Thessy."
Thessy slowly turned around. Her eyes were moist.
Without warning, she rushed forward and hugged him tightly.
The sudden force almost made Phillips lose his balance.
