Chapter 566: Chapter 332: Confirmed! Every Chinese Knows Kung Fu!
Seven o’clock.
Zhao Yi had just gotten up when he heard a knock at his door. He walked over impatiently and peered through his door peephole. To his surprise, he opened the door and exclaimed, "Xiaoqing? What brings you here?"
Lin Xiaoqing’s studies were quite demanding; she hardly had any spare time except for weekends.
"I took a leave and thought I’d come over." Lin Xiaoqing’s face broke into a faint smile.
Zhao Yi opened his arms to give her a hug.
Lin Xiaoqing awkwardly pushed him away, drawing Zhao Yi’s attention to Qian Hong standing beside her.
Qian Hong also felt awkward, and rather depressed. She had been completely ignored even though she was standing right there. She joked, "You guys can continue, just pretend I don’t exist."
Zhao Yi laughed and quickly ushered them both in.
After sitting in Zhao Yi’s room for a while, Lin Xiaoqing and Qian Hong decided to head to the cafeteria.
Going to the university cafeteria with Lin Xiaoqing early in the morning was a first since his days as a university student. Zhao Yi found it quite entertaining, but he seemed to have become a hanger-on, trailing behind the two girls. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com
People greeted Zhao Yi as they passed by. He would respond with a smile and a nod, but it never interrupted the conversation between the two women. Whenever he tried to join in, they’d tease him, "Are you here to eavesdrop on our conversation?"
"...alright."
Zhao Yi merely continued to trail behind leisurely. He found it strange how Qian Hong and Lin Xiaoqing had come to know each other so well. Hanging out together, they seemed as if they were best friends.
Although Qian Hong and Lin Xiaoqing had met a few times before, wasn’t it an exaggeration to say they were already friends?
Also...
Why did Lin Xiaoqing suddenly show up?
Zhao Yi immediately thought of Camilla, he was convinced that she had something to do with it.
He was right.
Camilla had annoyed Qian Hong so much, that out of protective instinct, she had disclosed everything to Lin Xiaoqing. Upon hearing about the situation, Lin Xiaoqing had grown anxious. Although she had faith in Zhao Yi, any woman in her position would naturally feel a little worried.
So, here she was.
Qian Hong was venting about Camilla to Lin Xiaoqing with colorful choice of words. Their conversation came to a halt when they stopped for breakfast.
After breakfast, Qian Hong left for class.
Lin Xiaoqing accompanied Zhao Yi to the School of Sciences meeting room where he and Edward discussed questions every day.
Both had arrived on time.
Edward had arrived a bit earlier than Zhao Yi and was having a hearty conversation about complex mathematics with Zhou Li.
As Zhao Yi walked in, they ceased their conversation.
Most professors from the School of Sciences knew that Lin Xiaoqing was Zhao Yi’s girlfriend. Observing her together with Zhao Yi, they felt a sense of relief. They were worried about Zhao Yi as Camilla was indeed quite charming and quite lethal when she took the initiative. However, with his girlfriend by his side, Camilla would surely be more reserved.
Of course, the crucial factor was that Zhao Yi would not falter.
In reality, only others were concerned. Zhao Yi had never shown any sign of being ’moved’. He simply communicated with Edward about mathematics, deflecting Camilla’s advances politely or ignoring them altogether.
The same was true now.
Zhao Yi just continued to discuss mathematical problems with Edward, stating new ideas from yesterday’s discussion, analyzing the geometric topological direction of the M Theory, and describing the possibility of creating linked energy.
And so on.
Everyone else in the room was attentively listening; only Camilla and Lin Xiaoqing were not.
While Camilla was trying hard to understand the discussion, her graduate study background proved to be a barrier. She could understand a few open-ended questions based on Edward’s explanation from the day before, but when the discussion went in-depth, she was at a loss.
Lin Xiaoqing, on the other hand, couldn’t understand anything at all. She hadn’t planned on trying to comprehend the advanced mathematical topics.
Now both of them had some idle time.
Camilla wasted no more time trying to follow the conversation, instead, she found herself observing Lin Xiaoqing. She paid no mind to Qian Hong. She could clearly see that Qian Hong wasn’t Zhao Yi’s girlfriend, but was just simply interested in him, thereby they were in the same position.
But this girl seemed to be different. Camilla could tell at a glance that she was Zhao Yi’s girlfriend.
They were on different planes now.
Camilla was fascinated by Lin Xiaoqing; she studied her with a smile in her eyes, a smile that hinted at concealed hostility.
Lin Xiaoqing could read that look. Keeping her expression steady, she knew Camilla was deliberate in her attempt to intimidate and retorted with a piercing stare.
Camilla had disguised her hostility with a smile.
Lin Xiaoqing’s gaze, however, was quite straightforward. It was akin to the gaze of a law enforcement officer, seeming as though she could see through her opponent’s psyche, completely undeterred.
As Camilla met her gaze, she felt a shudder run through her. For a moment, she was frightened, though, she refused to lose in this ’battle of stares,’ forcing herself to maintain her smile.
Eventually, she admitted defeat.
Camilla felt as though she wasn’t facing an emotional rival but an experienced cop or detective. Her opponent appeared to see through her, while flashing a contemptuous smile at her.
"This girl isn’t simple!" With a second defeat under her belt, Camilla wore a flustered expression as she shifted her gaze. When she looked again, she saw something that made her heart race.
The pencil that Lin Xiaoqing had been holding had actually snapped in her hand?
