Park Dongsu was waiting in the car for Ma Seokdae.

A moment later, Ma Seokdae and his men arrived. Recognizing Ma Seokdae’s vehicle, Park Dongsu stepped out of his own.

Ma Seokdae, who had similarly exited his car, glanced over at Park Dongsu and his subordinates, then gave a cool smile.

“President Park. You’ve prepared thoroughly.”

“Of course I have. This is the first time I’m teaming up with you, Chief, so I can’t embarrass myself in front of Muhyuk, can I.”

At that, Ma Seokdae gave a small nod and continued.

“We’ll be breaching the building. You just need to block off the perimeter so no one can get in. If it looks like we’re being overwhelmed, forget the perimeter and head inside.”

Nodding, Park Dongsu looked over the men standing behind Ma Seokdae and commented.

“Isn’t your group a bit small?”

Ma Seokdae chuckled at his remark.

“These are the men who serve right next to the boss. If they can’t handle this much, they don’t deserve to live.”

“Fair enough. We’ll make sure not even an ant gets past the building’s perimeter, so handle things inside as you see fit.”

The two briefly discussed their roles further, then returned to their vehicles.

Ma Chief’s team moved out first, followed by Park Dongsu’s group splitting into separate cars.

Eventually, they arrived near Shin Seongil’s office. The vehicles carrying Ma Seokdae and Park Dongsu’s crew split ways.

Park Dongsu’s car dispersed around the vicinity, while Ma Seokdae and his men got out near the office.

“What the hell!”

A subordinate of Shin Seongil, standing at the entrance, shouted.

But that shout was snuffed out immediately as the man behind Ma Seokdae rushed him. Without even making a sound, the lookout guarding the building was taken down. free𝑤ebnovel.com

Ma Seokdae passed him and stepped into the building.

As Ma Seokdae entered the building, Park Dongsu blocked the entrance and spoke to his subordinates.

“Don’t let even a damn ant get through. Even if a fight breaks out, don’t pull your sashimi knives, got it?”

“Yes, sir!” freewebnσvel.cѳm

Smiling, Park Dongsu turned to Lee Sanggeun beside him and said,

“Think you can fight without your knife? If things get dangerous, go ahead and pull it.”

“Understood, boss.”

Looking up at the building entrance, Park Dongsu murmured,

“Guess I’ll get to see what Ma Chief’s made of.”

Meanwhile, Ma Seokdae and his men, now inside the building, swiftly climbed the stairs and reached Shin Seongil’s office door.

At Ma Seokdae’s signal, one of the men nodded and opened the door.

Inside, Shin Seongil’s subordinates sprang to their feet at the sight of the intruders.

“What the hell? Who the hell are you guys?!”

As one of them shouted, he caught sight of Ma Seokdae walking in last and grimaced.

“Chief Ma?!”

Ignoring the man’s words, Ma Seokdae asked,

“Where’s President Shin?”

“What is this all about?”

“He inside?”

“Wait, Chief Ma!”

Ma Seokdae abandoned the conversation and turned to his men.

“Only Seokwoo and Myeonggeun follow me. The rest of you, clean this place up.”

At his command, all but the two he named rushed Shin Seongil’s subordinates.

Leaving the erupting chaos behind, Ma Seokdae opened the door to President Shin’s room.

Inside, Shin Seongil and Moon Taebeom, already aware of the commotion outside, had risen to their feet and were facing the door.

“What the hell is going on?!”

Shin Seongil shouted, his face contorted with rage.

But Ma Seokdae only wore a vicious smile.

“The young master told me to bring you.”

“The young master? For what? No, he could’ve just called quietly—what the hell is this?!”

Ma Seokdae didn’t answer. He merely issued orders to the two men beside him.

“Don’t kill them. Just subdue them.”

“Got it, hyung.”

Moon Taebeom, taking in the situation, cursed and pulled out a sashimi knife from his coat.

“Hey, hey. You’re gonna get hurt. Put the toy away.”

One of Ma Chief’s men said jokingly as he approached.

“Looks like these bastards caught on? President Shin! You’re just gonna let them take you?”

Moon Taebeom, who had introduced himself as a junior, now spoke to Shin Seongil in banmal.

Ma Chief didn’t show the slightest reaction. He simply watched the two.

“Fuck...”

Shin Seongil also raised both hands, taking a stance.

The fight erupted as Ma Chief’s men each lunged toward their targets.

Moon Taebeom swung his knife toward the one charging him.

The man seemed to flinch for a moment.

But only for a moment. He wasn’t afraid of the blade. He dashed at Moon with incredible speed.

Though his arm was slashed a few times and bleeding, the man didn’t flinch and entered striking range. With a swift move, his fist smashed into Moon Taebeom’s eye.

Wham!

Moon staggered but still didn’t let go of the knife.

The man pulled back slightly, dodging, but his shirt was torn across the chest, leaving a shallow wound. Blood quickly soaked into his white shirt.

“Whoa, that was close!”

“Seokwoo. Quit playing around and finish it.”

“Ah, hyung~ But this is fun. Alright.”

Seokwoo, dodging the knife with ease, responded playfully, then lunged forward, grabbing Moon’s knife-wielding arm.

In the blink of an eye, Moon Taebeom was thrown through the air and slammed onto the table. His body sprawled over it as he finally dropped the knife.

The man sneered and stepped closer.

“Told you to put the toy away. You’ll get hurt.”

Over on Shin Seongil’s side, the situation was still tense.

Dodging his attempts to grab hold, the man kept landing punches.

They were sharp strikes, but Shin Seongil’s toughness wasn’t ordinary.

Eventually, Shin managed to grab hold of his attacker. With a cold smile, he slammed him down hard.

“Urgh!”

Ma Seokdae’s gaze shifted from Moon to Shin.

“What are you doing, Myeonggeun?”

“Sorry, sir.”

At Ma Chief’s words, Myeonggeun gasped for breath but quickly stood.

He raised his fists like a boxer and approached Shin Seongil.

Thud!

He slapped away Shin’s grabbing hand and struck cleanly at his side.

Reeling from the sudden blow, Shin bent over—only to get uppercut in the chin. As he staggered, Myeonggeun landed several punches in quick succession.

Then, as Shin stumbled backward—

Crack!

A knee smashed into Shin’s face. A sickening crunch followed as his nose caved in.

Even Shin’s formidable resilience couldn’t withstand that. He crumpled.

Still catching his breath, Ha Myeonggeun stood over the collapsed Shin Seongil, eyes locked on him.

At the same time—

Park Dongsu, watching the perimeter outside, spotted several vans approaching.

He chuckled under his breath.

“Haa... I knew it was too quiet. Everyone get ready.”

At his command, his subordinates grabbed nearby metal pipes and baseball bats.

Turning to Lee Sanggeun beside him, Park Dongsu said,

“Block the entrance. Don’t let anyone through. If it gets bad, use your sashimi. You guys, keep Sanggeun safe.”

“Yes, hyung-nim.”

Soon, the vans screeched to a stop and muscular men poured out.

Park Dongsu’s men wasted no time and charged at them.

In the middle of Myeongdong, a full-blown gang brawl erupted.

Just then, Park Dongsu spotted a familiar face and furrowed his brow.

“What the hell? What are you doing here?”

“It’s been a while, Brother Dongsu.”

A man with a shallow scar near his eye gave a sly smile and bowed slightly.

Park Dongsu clicked his tongue.

“Ha... It’s Pain. Did Brother Baekho send you?”

“I don’t know what you mean.”

“Are you trying to get yourself killed, you crazy bastard?”

“Well, it’s a bit late to be talking about loyalties now, isn’t it.”

The man smiled nonchalantly at the frowning Park Dongsu.

“No need to complicate things. Just step aside. We’re only here to take President Shin and Mr. Moon.”

“Cut the crap. I don’t know who the hell you are, but I’m not letting a single person into that building.”

“Whew... So you're saying you started it, huh?”

The man suddenly lunged at Park Dongsu.

Park Dongsu hadn’t expected him to come flying in so suddenly, so he raised his arm to block a bit too late.

The distance had softened the blow somewhat, but he still took a clean hit to the nose. He stepped back, rubbing it with the back of his hand—blood smeared thick across it.

“You son of a bitch!”

Cursing, Park Dongsu charged forward.

Their fight ended faster than expected.

Though Park Dongsu was the one who came out on top, not even he could end a fight like this unscathed.

This isn't looking good.

They were badly outnumbered.

Park Dongsu, nearly surrounded by the man’s subordinates, wiped the blood off his face and backed away.

“Fuck... This is a shitshow.”

In the end, Park Dongsu and his men were pushed all the way back to the building entrance, where they stood, glaring forward.

The man—now limping, supported by his men—came to a stop in front of him.

“The cops aren’t coming. Let’s end it here, hyung-nim.”

“Cut the bullshit and get in here.”

Frowning, the man shouted.

“Secure the entrance!”

“Yes, hyung-nim!”

Just then, Ma Chief’s men, having grasped the situation inside, rushed out of the building.

Only a few joined—those not already inside with Ma Seokdae and the two others—but even that quickly tipped the scale in Park Dongsu’s favor.

In the end, Park Dongsu’s and Ma Seokdae’s subordinates overpowered everyone and tossed them out in front of the building.

That’s when Ma Seokdae came down, dragging Shin Seongil and Moon Taebeom with him.

He frowned as he saw the state they were in.

“And what the hell are these supposed to be?”

“This bastard’s the one we want to take,” Park Dongsu said, pointing to the man kneeling and glaring up at him.

Ma Seokdae kicked him square in the face. His subordinates grabbed the crumpled man from the ground and threw him into the vehicle.

Ma Seokdae looked around at the chaos and let out a sigh.

“This... isn’t something we can just sweep under the rug. Someone’s going to have to take the fall.”

“...Tell Muhyuk to handle the aftermath.”

Ma Seokdae gave a nod and left the scene. The cars carrying the men sped off.

Left alone, Park Dongsu looked over his subordinates and sighed.

“What are you doing? Get that kid to the hospital. Move it, hurry the hell up!”

“Where the hell did that bastard come from?”

“President Park said to take him. Looks like he’s the boss of the punks who attacked.”

I smiled coldly.

Ma Chief brought over a chair and set it down. As I sat, the man squirming on the floor slowly raised his head.

“So, the Gangnam rats came crawling into Myeongdong, huh? I don’t know what you're thinking, but thanks for giving us a reason.”

“What the hell are you talking about?”

“Hey, Oh Gilseok. Don’t even bother denying it. You stepped into Myeongdong first, so we’ll take that as a declaration of war, yeah?”

[...]

He was the right-hand man of Baekho—the current boss controlling Gangnam.

No way he moved without Baekho’s orders.

“Did Baekho send you? What the hell is so important about President Shin?”

“You shut that damn mouth. Who do you think you are, mouthing off our big bro’s name?!”

I nodded at the shrieking Oh Gilseok.

“Real gangsters always react the same. Dumb as ever. Let’s soften him up first. Don’t kill him—he’ll be leverage against Baek Jeonggi.”

Ma Chief grabbed Oh Gilseok by the scruff of the neck.

“You bastard, how dare you speak our Big Brother’s name?!”

“What, should I just call him Baekjeong bastard?”

Ma Chief’s foot smashed into his face. Oh Gilseok tumbled across the floor.

At his signal, Ma Chief’s subordinates dragged the man off into a corner.

It was all too familiar. I was already bored of it.

“Let’s start with Shin Seongil.”

Ma Chief hauled over the half-conscious Shin Seongil and dumped him in front of me.

“President Shin, when did this start?”

He ripped the tape from Shin’s mouth.

“Young master, why are you doing this...?”

“Haa...”

I sighed in irritation.

“That’s what you have to say after getting dragged in here? Come on, we both know what’s what—drop the act. Moon Taebeom, Oh Gilseok—those two alone are enough. Hell, even without evidence, you’re done for.”

“...Shit.”

Shin Seongil cursed under his breath and glared at me.

“You were the problem. Chairman Cheon was the perfect puppet, but then you suddenly came along and ruined everything.”

“You planted Moon Taebeom on me to get me killed?”

“I don’t know.”

“Grandfather said he’s supported you since you were young. When did that start?”

“...”

I sighed again, more annoyed than before.

“Don’t clam up now. I’m offering a quick and painless end. When and who gave the orders?”

“When I quit wrestling and went to see the chairman, I was already under someone else. Not that I had a choice. Since my father’s father, we’ve served that bloodline...”

He’d acted like he was loyal to Grandfather.

While the other bosses were just opportunistic bats clinging to whoever held power, Shin Seongil pretended he knew no other allegiance but to Grandfather.

If I hadn’t recognized Moon Taebeom, hadn’t made the first move the moment suspicion crept in... one day he might have gone for my heart.

A chill ran down my spine.

“So you did recognize Moon Taebeom back then. How the hell did you spot him?”

“Who knows. Just tell me everything you know, and I’ll let you go easy.”

“I don’t know anything. Someone like me doesn’t get told much.”

As expected, the cost outweighed the reward. Clicking my tongue, I looked at Ma Chief.

“Kill him. Get everything out of him first.”

“Yes, boss.”

Ma Chief’s subordinates dragged Shin Seongil away.

Now it was Moon Taebeom’s turn.

Dragged in by the subordinates, Moon Taebeom thrashed and glared at me.

Whether it was impressive or just plain stupid that he still had that much fight in him, I couldn’t say.

Ma Chief ripped the tape from his mouth. Moon Taebeom immediately started spewing curses—in Japanese.

“Speak Korean. You’re in Korea.”
