Comprehending the battlefields was the hardest part of what Sylas had to do. While the C-tier was as easy as breathing for him, at the B-tier, it took him several hours.

When Sylas first entered the Golden Grove's mutated dungeon, he didn't think that this would become his hardest challenge. Honestly speaking, he thought it would be the Demons themselves.

But at this point, his power had far outstripped them. While that wasn't the case for the A-tier, he was at the point where he could easily protect himself. And, well… the Duchess also helped quite a lot with that.

Combining with the Duchess was a lot less of a headache than he thought it would be too. She simply appeared and they combined into one, each fusion growing stronger than the last. It wasn't just a melding of minds, but also an odd increase in talent too, almost like bits and pieces of her were coming back together.

The Duchess hadn't spoken much at all since she appeared, but whatever murderous intent she had was gone.

Sylas had a feeling that it was only partially because of what happened between the three of them. The other part of it was that she could certainly sense the budding life in her belly and she didn't know how to feel about it.

It shouldn't have even been possible for those of the Real World and the Demonic World to have children in the first place… though, maybe Alex's existence was its own wrench in that thought process.

That somewhat made Sylas wonder if Alex's birth was also related to the Lust Seed. It likewise made him wonder if this was a secret to melding Humans and Demons that the Thryskai were looking for. Had he accidentally stumbled into it?

Sylas didn't think so. If that was all they wanted, they would have been more proactive with capturing and dealing with Alex. Though, they had made some attempts.

However, Sylas could feel that their baby wouldn't grow well unless all of her clones were combined. Luckily, after finishing the B-tier, there was only a single one left.

There was no S-tier level of this Dungeon, not as far as Sylas could tell. Likely because the entire purpose of the Golden Battlefield was to build the perfect foundation for the S-tier. If you already entered the S-tier, you should have already done everything possible already.

"You can do it?" the Duchess was actually shocked when it seemed that Sylas was going to continue on.

Sylas nodded.

There was a small flicker in the Duchess' eyes and Cassarae grinned.

"You're going to have to treat your concubines better, babe. Especially if they're with child. Can't you tell what she was worried about?"

Sylas looked at his wife and shook his head. "With me here, there is never anything to worry about."

The Duchess was taken aback and didn't know what to say. But before she could say anything, their location shifted and Sylas took a step into the A-tier Golden Battlefield.

Cassarae took the Duchess' arm. "You should see the look on your face. It's kind of cute."

The Duchess stiffened. She didn't know what to make of Cassarae either.

"What?" Cassarae laughed. "Did you think I was going to continue treating you like shit? Now that you understand the hierarchy, you will be my sister."

"… What of my child?" the Duchess couldn't help but ask.

Cassarae smiled. "Are you worried about succession?"

The Duchess blinked as though she didn't understand the question. Wasn't that much obvious?

"Oh, pretty little princess, you don't understand your husband at all, do you?" Cassarae asked.

The Duchess' frown deepened. She wasn't sure what to make of those words.

She didn't understand Sylas in the sense that Cassarae was speaking, but she understood him in the only important aspects. She knew that he was endowed, she knew that he was powerful, she knew that he was intelligent and talented. She knew he was a man of courage, a man of conviction, a man who didn't flinch in the face of adversity, challenge, or a seemingly insurmountable mountain.

He had entered their E-tier Dungeon as an F-tier and come out on top, clearing the Golden Battlefield for the first time in their entire history.

He caused a stir in her main body and awakened her True Bloodline, bringing out a lust in her that she didn't understand. So not only was he a capable man, he was a desirable man.

And yet, all of this was only the tip of the iceberg, because she had watched him challenge Gods as a mortal and come out on top.

She knew more than enough about him. She didn't understand the question. freewebnøvel.coɱ

"You haven't gone far enough in your analysis." Cassarae said with a smile. "Normal men think about scions. They use their women as incubators hoping they'll get themselves a worthy heir to carry on their legacy.

"But you see, you married about the only man so prideful he wouldn't ever be willing to lose to his child. A scion? An heir? He doesn't think in those frames of mind because he doesn't think he'll ever have to pass anything on."

The Duchess' eyes widened and it felt like the final piece of who Sylas was had slid into place for her. What understanding she had lacked before was perfectly filled.

"Then…" the Duchess whispered, almost scared to speak the words. "Will he treat our children poorly? Will he… kill them?"

She spoke as though she was trying to decide whether she should run right now or not.

But the response she received was a burst of laughter. Cassarae laughed so hard she thought she might burst a gut.

She patted her belly as though apologizing to the clumps of cells that were her baby—if it even was that much at this point.

"No, you're misunderstanding. Sylas is a big softy, and he doesn't like his things to be touched or come to harm. His children are his things. They will be the most pampered little things in the universe."
