Chapter 451: Chapter 55: Muddle-headed Enough to Bully the King of Wind Law

What was there for the Master of Armor Tomb to say?

It truly wasn’t concerned with honor, preferring to take the safest course of action. Westheid’s taunts had been completely ineffective, but now, surrounded, it had no choice but to admit it was at a disadvantage.

"I had not foreseen such an accident..."

"Stop wasting your breath!"

Mivana hurled the Knight’s Silver Sword. The indestructible, Celestial-Blessed artifact once again proved its immense value; not even a Demon Demigod would dare to receive the Wolf-eared Maiden’s strike directly. After all, it had experienced the weapon’s fearsome sharpness in their previous clashes.

The Holy Spirit Incarnation had just dodged when a bolt of pure Dragon Thunder, brimming with destructive power, ZINGED—striking its barrier. The resulting shockwave surged outward like a tidal wave.

But this was only the beginning. Accompanied by attacks surging from all sides, an unending barrage of Sunlight Spears came flying, one after the other.

No words or rallying cries were needed. The Warriors accompanying Westheid all understood the gravity of the battle. They coordinated their assault seamlessly. While they might not be able to join the fight against the Holy Spirit Incarnation, they could certainly hold back the Heroic Spirit Armors and prevent those of equal combat strength from disturbing their lord.

Westheid rarely surrounded others with a group. His fights were usually either him effortlessly slaughtering mobs or dueling a Powerhouse. Only when he truly couldn’t handle a situation would he resort to ganging up on an enemy.

On this point, Westheid wouldn’t get hung up on a sense of honor; he had his priorities straight.

BOOM—

Westheid took a deep breath. As steam rose from his body, crimson cracks crept across his exposed skin. The sharp pain of burning his Soul Energy sent tremors through his very flesh and bone; even with Duke Qinghui’s willpower, he couldn’t help but furrow his brow.

He held nothing back. From the moment the fight began, he unleashed his Soul Burning Technique. This served to both preheat his Cursed Source Blood and push his Status to its peak. ’Power of Numbers... come on out!’

’My love, do not push yourself too hard. You can only maintain this state for forty minutes at most. Any longer will cause irreversible damage.’

’If you cross that threshold, please forgive me, but I will be forced to stop you.’

Wan Qi’s voice rang in his mind. Westheid nodded in understanding. Although the Demon Maiden granted almost his every request, she had her limits, and that limit was Westheid’s well-being.

He hadn’t forgotten that he had signed a contract with Wan Qi. If necessary, the Master of Extinction could directly take control of his body for a time.

’Forty minutes... Every second counts.’

’Beyond the ultimate numbers... comes the power of mechanics!’

"Give me access."

Westheid spoke softly to Anise. The Demon Maiden pouted, remaining noncommittal, but in the next instant, Duke Qinghui felt a torrential wave of energy surge into him. He felt like a fish returned to water.

The weaving of Ten Thousand Wind Melodies was accompanied by a hazy, emerald glow. After his recent high-intensity training, Westheid had become adept at imbuing himself with one property after another.

He applied all his control over the Melodies to the cutting edge—in the most literal sense.

Shadow-Born’s crimson blade erupted with a cruel halo of light. The next instant, it slammed into the Holy Spirit Incarnation’s magnificent Armor.

The Armor, which had stood unshaken even under a direct hit from a Sunlight Spear, was instantly smashed apart—the entire pauldron and a good half of the chestplate. The tall Holy Spirit Incarnation was immediately knocked to its knees.

"Just as I thought! This is the most effective tool against you!"

Westheid laughed at the Holy Spirit Incarnation as he resumed his fierce assault.

With Duke Qinghui acting as the main damage dealer, Reiya, Mivana, and Anise provided support from the flanks. While they couldn’t quickly break through the Holy Spirit Incarnation’s defenses, they were excellent at absorbing damage for Westheid and keeping the enemy controlled.

A Dragon Thunder Thrust from the White-haired Dragon Lady, an elbow strike from the Wolf-eared Maiden, or even a brutal lashing from the Enchanting Demon’s Whip Blade—all of it made it difficult for the Holy Spirit Incarnation to mount a counterattack against Westheid.

’This is what a righteous beatdown looks like!’

"Tsk..."

The Holy Spirit Incarnation remained silent, but the negative emotions in its Soul Melody were palpable.

Ever since discovering that Westheid had also mastered Ten Thousand Wind Melodies, the Master of Armor Tomb had made a hasty retreat. It would not manifest too much of its power outside the nodes under its control, all to avoid a direct confrontation with the properties of Ten Thousand Wind Melodies.

This power was simply too effective a counter against the Master of Armor Tomb—far more so than against other Demons. It only took Westheid a moment’s thought to understand why the Master of Armor Tomb was so afraid of it.

While Ten Thousand Wind Melodies merely nullified other Demons’ use of the Thousand Laws Ceremony, the Forest of Serenity itself was a Domain that had been refined with the Thousand Laws Ceremony. The very Holy Spirits born from the Holy Land had been captured by the Divine Ancestor and instantly refined using this method.

Therefore, every Law woven with Ten Thousand Wind Melodies that struck its body inflicted excruciating pain.

Counters trump all; a super-effective attack can even take down an immortal.

This was an iron law of the Mortal World. All beings beneath the Celestial Gods had to abide by it, and Demon Demigods were no exception.

Its only hope was to rely on the nodes under its control to contend with a master of the Wind Law, and only then could it hope to mitigate this disadvantage.

’I cannot afford to lose this incarnation here. I must escape.’

The Master of Armor Tomb quickly made its decision. After sustaining a considerable amount of damage, the Holy Spirit Incarnation saw its chance. It erupted with all its accumulated Divine Energy and attempted to flee.

VMMMM—

A terrifyingly vast Divinity manifested and ignited within the Mortal World. It blasted away the surrounding assailants, then shot off in a single direction to escape.
