Chapter 446: Chapter 52: Burning Amber
Crucially, all three of them deliberately focused their energy. They knew that if they didn’t concentrate all their power onto a single point, they doubted they could even breach the Holy Spirit Incarnation’s shield.
After all, the Armor was infused with Divinity, granting it an extremely high, innate damage reduction... Divinity was just that sort of terrifyingly unfair power.
Currently, Westheid’s only special methods for countering Divinity were to either overwhelm it with sheer power or use the [Soul Burning Technique] to trade blow for blow. Neither option was particularly viable right now.
That left only a third option—one which, fortunately, he had mastered.
Westheid continuously experimented with [Ten Thousand Wind Melodies], either adding new Laws to his attacks or dispersing the power to distort the very Laws of the Forest of Serenity.
Only by doing so could he inflict an irreversible, decisive wound upon his enemy within its own Domain, the Forest of Serenity.
As time passed, with Reiya and Mivana providing cover, Westheid’s tactic of landing opportunistic strikes yielded significant results. The Holy Spirit Incarnation’s once-perfect, exquisite Armor was now covered in scars. And these were wounds the Holy Spirit could not repair.
But beyond the physical damage... the psychological toll was becoming obvious.
"ENOUGH! You are wantonly twisting the Laws of the Thousand Lakes! I never should have helped him refine this entire Domain into a toy he can manipulate at will!"
"Stop this blasphemous cheating! NOW!"
The Silver Armor completely ignored the two women, focusing its furious assault solely on Westheid. Its words were a thunderous roar.
As expected, [Ten Thousand Wind Melodies] was the Master of Armor Tomb’s weakness. Or rather, it was the only tool the Royal Court possessed that could give them an advantage against the Demigod Demon.
"See? There you go again, getting all worked up."
Westheid laughed.
"You say I’m cheating, but I’d say you started it. How about this: you seal away your Divinity, and I’ll stop using the Wind Law. Deal?"
If the Master of Armor Tomb had been a normal Powerhouse from the Mortal World, it likely would have accepted such a provocation. After all, to most mortals, the substance of honor is worth more than life itself.
However, it was the Holy Spirit of the Forest of Serenity. Mortal concepts of honor and shame were meaningless to it; a being that transcended the mundane world operated on an entirely different logic.
"AN UNREASONABLE DEMAND!"
"IN OTHER WORDS, IT IS A WAR YOU WANT. THEN A WAR YOU SHALL HAVE!"
The instant the Demon Demigod’s voice faded, Westheid stepped forward and pierced the Silver Armor. But it didn’t counterattack; instead, it simply disintegrated.
Duke Qinghui froze for a moment, his mind immediately racing with speculation.
’Hm? It just gave up its incarnation?’
’Or did it decide this was a losing battle?’
THUD, THUD, THUD—
The sets of Armor of the Elf Warriors that had been hanging from the trees were released, dropping down. From within the burning thicket, even more similar suits of Armor began to emerge.
Mithril gave way to ancient wood. A faintly glowing, fiery red amber sprouted from the center of their chests. Their helmets grew backward-sweeping antlers made of branches, and green sashes draped from their shoulders. Thus, an armor made primarily of scorched ancient wood was born.
"Burning Amber..."
The Elves on the defensive line spoke with grim gravity as they watched the sudden appearance of the army clad in smoldering wood Armor.
The so-called Burning Amber was a phenomenon that would periodically occur in the Forest of Serenity. The entire Magic Forest would be engulfed in a sea of fire, and the Armor Tombs, along with the forest’s plants and trees, would become infested by a special kind of amber.
