Chapter 7: Legendary

What could it be that had warranted the two supervisors to react in the shocking way they had?

Honestly, Tony couldn’t exactly tell for sure what it was they had seen. But if he were to make some guesses, he would place them on the fact that the display had shown something awkwardly awesome for a personality like him.

It was so easy to read from their reactions.

But what could possibly lead Maya into making that last statement?

There was nothing left in Tony’s mind except for classifying whatever it was as "awkward." He clearly understood what the female supervisor meant by a ’comma’ being in his feat.

The tension that had settled over the group after Maya’s last statement began to ease as Narumi took the iPad from her hand and began to scroll through it.

Still curious, Sandra took a seat by her boyfriend’s side on the bed, and both of them continued to stare at the two supervisors before them, as well as wait patiently for them to reveal whatever it was they were delaying them from seeing.

After scrolling through Tony’s information and seeing what Maya had seen, Narumi shook his head.

"You are really going to be a one-of-a-kind player," he stated and finally handed the iPad over to Tony.

Seeing the iPad in their hands, Sandra smiled at the two supervisors and gestured towards the meal on the stool table.

It was just a classic breakfast she had initially planned to prepare for Tony. A fried egg sandwich, with orange juice to help digestion. Tony would have to wait now, though.

"Please, help yourselves. We didn’t know you would be coming this morning," she said and didn’t even wait for a response from them before she turned her attention to the screen.

Tony scrolled up and down. He repeated the process a second time before he calmed down and began to engulf the information displayed on the screen.

[Player Name]: Tony Starke

[Level]: 1

[Period]: Third Awakening

[Class]: Summoner | [Rarity]: Legendary

[Skill]: -

[Rank]: F

As Tony read through his profile as provided by the Guild’s special mechanism, he very well understood how the system had taken care of the situation.

"I see," he said calmly with a faint smile.

Instead of having his actual class revealed, it had made it so that only the common part of it was detected. Although it might not be a common class among players, it was surely something that should be known amongst many.

What he wasn’t quite comfortable with was the rarity of the class. Although it wasn’t the real rarity of his class, he had expected its rarity to be classified as something that was "high" or, at most, "rare." However, here he was, staring at the second most powerful rarity there is.

The rarity of the magic classes one awakened as a player depended on their availability in history since the creation of this tower world. But the most determinant was on the achievements made by the ancestor(s) who had wielded such a class.

’Is this how special the summoner class is?’

Tony continued to speculate with his eyes still fixed on the screen.

He also now understood what Maya had meant by making that her last statement. Not awakening a skill after a class was something that was never recorded.

Although he was yet to access his system to see if he had earned any, it hadn’t been among the first information he received. If he remembered correctly, it had only informed him of a "Divine Class" and a "Passive Trait."

With this in mind, Tony’s eagerness to really go through the system increased. He wanted to see if there were more perks to what he gained.

"Mister Tony, don’t you have a question to ask?" Narumi asked, speaking with his mouth full as he chewed the last piece of the sandwich he held in his hand, then collected the glass of juice placed by its side.

Tony smiled. "I prefer you enjoy the meal first."

Sandra, who had been sitting beside her boyfriend all this while, didn’t seem to be as surprised as the two supervisors when they saw his class or as disappointed as they were when they realized he had no skills. Whatever impression she had of the results she had just seen, it was not made known through any expression.

She simply stood from the bed and collected the empty cup she had used to serve Tony coffee earlier and headed to the kitchen.

It didn’t take a dozen minutes earlier before Maya shifted the stool table to her left. An indication that they had both eaten to their satisfaction of what they were served... if not emptied the plate.

"Sandra is quite a good cook, don’t you think, Maya?" Narumi asked, cleaning his mouth with a napkin.

Maya pouted, cheeks puffing slightly as she crossed her arms.

What is her boss trying to mean by saying that?

Tony didn’t want to care what they meant to each other. Since the supervisors were done with the meal now, he returned the iPad to them and took off the device over his wrist. With a soft click, the device retracted and reverted to its original form.

"Supervisor Narumi, why am I ranked at F? Does this have to do with me not awakening a skill?" Tony asked, sitting erect with indifference written all over his face.

Maya returned the devices inside the briefcase she had retrieved them from, while Narumi stood from the bench cushion and stretched himself. Afterward, he straightened his suit and aligned it back to a formal shape.

"The F rank you saw? Oh. Miss Maya, can you clear him on that?" Narumi said and practically walked his way toward the door.

Having packed the devices, Maya also stood from the cushion and was about to join her boss when the polite order was given to her.

Her face turned grim, but she could only do as she was asked.

She turned to Tony. "Your skills don’t have any consequence on your rank. If anything, your skills are only there to guarantee how powerful you can be and ensure your survival while clearing the floors."

She paused and continued. "The rank you’re seeing is the starting rank, and it’s general for other newly awakened players. If you’re thinking of what should determine your true measurement of strength, then you should be worried about your level. However, it also shouldn’t be a concern now that you haven’t started clearing floors."

Tony listened as Maya took her time to explain these details to him.

"Are you saying that the ranks are bound to change?" he asked.

"Yes. A retest of player ranks is done one year after awakening. In some cases, the player can also apply for a retest on their own."

"I see," Tony nodded, but there was still one confusion. "If that is the case, what is the difference between a player’s rank and level?"

Maya’s face now really turned grim. This boy was wasting her precious time. Seeing that her boss had gone ahead to leave her behind, she was also losing her patience bit by bit.

But she had to clarify him.

"Put simply, your level is your personal growth. While the rank shows your standing in the Guild system. More like your status or tier," Maya explained patiently.

Tony nodded in full understanding.

He could be an "F" ranked player but could accomplish the same thing, if not more, of what someone in a higher rank but the same level as him could achieve. That is, assuming it is based on balanced logic.

"Hope you do not have any more concerns, Mister Tony?" Maya asked, even though she prayed for a positive response.

"I don’t think so."

"Very well. Come to the guild tomorrow to claim your player’s ID," she informed, and she didn’t waste any more seconds before she zoomed out of the room.

The door closed moments later with a click.

Now, while Tony waited for Sandra to bring him breakfast, he had something else in mind he needed to do.

’System, are you there?’ he thought in his mind.

[Affirmative, Host.]

’What...?’

Before Tony could ask the question he had in mind, the system screen appeared and notifications displayed themselves on the screen.
