Chapter 70: A Date With Yuki (3)
And there I was, standing in the middle of the Free City while the world seemed to tilt on its axis. A few steps away stood Princess, still wearing her paintball uniform. Her blue eyes were glowing with a feral, neon intensity, and she looked mad as hell. Right beside me was Yuki, her violet eyes flashing back with just as much heat.
I didn’t know exactly what was about to happen next, but I knew I didn’t like the feeling of it. My skin was crawling.
But... How the fuck did Princess even know I was here? We were miles outside of Oakland. And why is she even here, looking like she just crawled out of a war zone?
Obviously... Tracking..
I was busy staring at Princess, trying to find my breath, when Yuki suddenly grabbed my hand. Her grip was tight and possessive.
"Come on, Faye, let’s get out of here. I don’t understand why that Alpha is staring at us like she wants to start a war," Yuki muttered, pulling at my arm.
I didn’t move. I couldn’t. I knew that Alpha better than anyone, and right now, she was staring directly at our joined hands with a look that could melt steel.
Before Yuki could even take a single step toward the car, Princess was suddenly right in front of us. It happened in a blur of motion I couldn’t even follow.
What the fuck was that? What kind of stealthy, high speed shit was she pulling?
"Get your fucking hands off her," Princess ordered. she didn’t touch either of us yet, but the air around her felt heavy, like a storm was about to break.
Yuki, still holding my hand firmly, just looked annoyed. She let out a short, mocking little laugh.
"You’re in no position to tell me what to do, sweetheart. Blackjack is a free land. No Alpha rules apply here, and I certainly don’t answer to an Alpha’s whims."
"I won’t repeat myself again. Get. Your. Fucking. Hands. Off. Her. Now."
Her tone was slow, low, and absolutely deadly. Any normal wolf would feel their knees shaking just hearing it. Even I felt that familiar shiver of fear running down my spine.
I tried to pull my hand away from Yuki’s grip, but she only tightened her hold on me, using me as a shield between her and the Alpha.
"Faye, you don’t have to be scared of an Alpha while I’m around. I’m right here," Yuki said. She stepped fully in front of me, blocking my view of Princess.
Now they stood face to face, inches apart. I was trapped behind Yuki, still caught in that grip. I knew that was the very thing that was pissing Princess off more than anything else.
"You Alphas always think every single thing in this world belongs to you. Claiming and claiming, using your strength and your rank to dominate everyone, spreading fear like it’s a hobby," Yuki said. She was smiling now, but it was a dangerous, jagged kind of smile. "I’m not afraid of you. Go ahead and do your worst. This is a free city. Killing an Alpha would be a reason for a celebration around here."
"Can you at least let go of me for a second," I muttered, pulling at my wrist again.
"Why should I bother claiming what is already mine? Yuki, right? That’s your name?" Princess said. She reached out and grabbed the exact same hand Yuki was already holding. "If you don’t want us to have a serious problem, let my omega go right now."
I don’t know what is happening but I think I am hearing things.... What the fuck is this bitch saying...
Before she could even finish the sentence, Yuki moved in a blink. With her free hand, she lashed out and sank her sharp claws deep into Princess’s hand. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
Princess let out a sharp groan of pain. That sound hit me way harder than I expected it to. It made my stomach twist.
I saw actual steam rising from the spot where Yuki’s claws had pierced her skin. Princess tried to pull her hand away, but the movement only seemed to make the pain worse.
I didn’t stop to think. I just reacted. I yanked my hand free from Yuki’s distracted grip and shoved her back with all my strength. She stumbled on the pavement but managed to stay on her feet, looking surprised.
I looked down and saw that Princess’s hand was clawed open and clearly burned.
"Oh fuck. Princess, are you okay?" I reached out and grabbed her injured hand.
She tried to pull away from me, her pride hurting as much as her skin, but I held on tight. I was way more worried about her injury right now than I was about her anger.
"Your hand. The burns look bad. How bad is it?" I muttered. I started blowing on the wound, trying to ease the stinging pain somehow.
"It’ll heal," she said flatly, though her jaw was clamped shut. "What the hell are you doing here? With my pups? What the fuck is wrong with you, omega?"
Her voice was strained and tight. She was clearly in a lot of pain, and I hated that I was the reason she was even here.
"You two know each other?" Yuki’s voice cut in, sounding sharp and cold.
We both turned to look at her. Her claws were out on both of her hands now, and they didn’t look normal at all. They weren’t bone or keratin. They were silver. Shining, polished silver.
Silver is the one thing that weakens wolves. Any wolf, no matter how strong. Even an Alpha.
But how does she even have silver claws? She’s a werewolf herself. How is that even possible without her hurting herself?
"Of course we know each other," Princess said, her eyes narrowing. "She’s pregnant with my pups. And you’ve been hanging around with my pups...."
"But she didn’t mention any of that to me," Yuki said, her violet eyes searching mine.
"Yuki, I’m so sorry. I was really going to tell you the truth, but I just didn’t know how to say it," I started.
"No, I get it now. You were probably ashamed of her. Did she force herself on you? Is that why?" Yuki asked.
I opened my mouth to respond, but Princess beat me to it.
"You’re really starting to get on my last nerve. If you don’t want me to reach out and rip your heart out of your chest, you need to just shut up," Princess snapped.
"Why don’t you try and shut me up then, Alpha? Let’s see who rips whose heart out first."
Princess pulled her hand away from my touch and straightened her back. Her claws came out, long and dark, and her fangs were fully visible now.
She was really going to fight her right here.
And Yuki was more than ready too. I had seen her matches. She had never lost a single one. She might get beaten to the very brink of death, but she was always the last one standing when the dust settled.
I tried to pull Princess back by the arm, wanting to just take her away from here. I wanted to get us back to Oakland and settle this behind closed doors, but she refused to budge an inch.
Just as they were about to clash together, I felt a presence behind me. A cold chill ran down my back.
"Are you Faye Grande?" a voice asked.
I turned around quickly. It was the waiter from the restaurant we had just left. He looked different now, his face blank and empty.
"What do you want," I started to ask.
But before I could even finish the question, he raised a long, serrated knife. He wasn’t looking at Princess or Yuki. He was aiming the blade straight for me and my stomach.
