Chapter 38: A Ripped Heart
We both ran to the location. It was far from where we were. Our footsteps hit the ground fast, branches snapping under our shoes as we pushed through the path. My lungs burned a little from the sudden sprint, but the screaming ahead kept pulling me forward.
The moment we got there, we spotted the same car Sasha drove earlier. The headlights were on, the beam cutting through the darkness. The engine was still humming softly.
We traced the light and saw her on the ground struggling to crawl away from someone.
Her hands clawed at the dirt as she dragged herself forward inch by inch.
She was crying and begging for her life.
Her voice broke between sobs.
The person she was begging for her life from was a tall blonde guy. He was wearing the school basketball jersey and jacket. The fabric stretched across his shoulders.
He looked bigger, but not as big as a hedge-wolf.
His claws and yellow eyes were out.
The glow from his eyes reflected in the car’s headlights.
"What the fuck is he doing? He is going to kill her?" I muttered, looking at the scene, then at Malo, who looked stunned.
Malo’s mouth was slightly open. He did not move.
"We have to do something before he kills her," I said, standing up to stop what was happening.
My body had already leaned forward before my brain caught up.
Malo grabbed my head.
His fingers pressed hard against my hair, forcing me to stay down.
"Fuck no. He is bigger and stronger. He is going to kill you," he whispered, lowering his voice so it would not be heard.
"Are you fucking crazy? So we should just ignore what is happening? She is in pain and can’t run," I said.
I pointed toward Sasha.
She was still dragging herself away from him, her knees scraping against the ground.
"Don’t try to play hero. You are going to get killed. After the Alphas, their kind are the strongest. No one can defeat them except an Alpha."
"So you are suggesting we call an Alpha right now while we watch her getting ripped apart?"
He nodded. Just nodded like that was the only answer.
I can’t believe it.
Watching someone getting killed and I get to do nothing?
That’s impossible.
He may be big and strong, but I won’t stand by because I wasn’t raised like that.
Guru said never leave the weak to be preyed on.
Just because they are stronger doesn’t mean they can do what they want.
"While we wait, let me call the GPF. They will handle it," Malo said, bringing his phone out.
His fingers fumbled with the screen.
I clenched my fist, looking at the scene.
My nails dug into my palm.
His eyes shone brighter now and he was about to lunge at the girl.
His body bent forward like a predator ready to strike.
I couldn’t control myself. Ihad to do something.
Because if something bad happened I would never forgive myself, for not trying to do something.
My legs moved before my mind could stop them.
I charged toward him and slammed him away.
My shoulder hit his side. He drifted away from her.
"Fucking no!" I heard Malo shout from behind, but I ignored him.
If he was not going to do anything, he should just stay there.
I was now standing in front of the guy, guarding Sasha who was on the floor.
My chest rose and fell quickly.
"Another bitch..." he snarled, his eyes brightening even more, showing his anger.
His lips pulled back, revealing sharp teeth.
"Keep your claws away from her, you dickhead," I growled.
My claws were out ready for any attack. The tips glinted faintly.
When he noticed my face he recognized me instantly.
His expression shifted slightly.
"You are Princess’s pup bearer. Look here girl I have business with her. So why don’t you leave here. And be a good little wolf, don’t tell anyone what you saw here," he said his eyes were still glowing and his claws still out.
"Why don’t you be a good big Wolfie and leave her alone," I said back.
My voice stayed steady even though my heart was pounding.
"Come go away, I don’t want to be responsible for killing the Alpha’s pups. Think about the pups inside you."
"I am thinking about this girl that you are about to kill, you are self conscious, unlike hedge wolves who don’t know what they are doing. Why are you trying to kill her?" I said.
His eyes were locked on Sasha who was trembling behind me.
I could hear her shaky breathing.
"Don’t try to start what you can’t finish, you are just an omega, the weakest kind, your strength is no match for me, I will tear you apart with just one hand. I am only restraining myself because you are with the Alpha pups, but if you push my limit I will forget that and rip you apart." He threatened coming closer.
His footsteps were slow. Heavy.
Each step pressed into the ground.
"Stay away from Faye!!!"
Malo screamed, sprinting towards him.
He held his crutch up.
He might be limping but he forced himself to sprint just fast enough.
But the guy turned and held the crutch firmly.
The wood stopped in his grip. He growled at Malo’s face.
Malo’s face felt his breath.
In a blink of an eye he fling both Malo and the crutch to the side.
The crutch spun through the air.
Malo body made a thud on the ground hard.
The sound echoed through the quiet space.
Seeing Malo on the ground made my blood boil. Something inside my chest snapped.
I pounce on him from the back. My arms wrapped around his shoulders.
He was trying to drag me down but I wouldn’t let go.
My teeth sank into his shoulder. The taste of blood filled my mouth.
"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh" he screamed so loud and forcefully removed me from his back and punched me in the face.
The impact exploded across my nose.
He threw me to the ground. My back hit the dirt.
I felt blood spilling from my nose. Warm. Thick.
Fuck that hurts. A lot.
My head spun for a second. frёewebηovel.cѳm
I pushed myself up slightly and looked at him. He was now fucking pissed. More than he was. His chest rose heavily. His eyes burned brighter.
"I told you, you are no match for someone like me, you should have left when I told you to. No I will kill you first, then that errand boy before killing that bitch."
"You fucking nut of a head" I called.
My voice sounded rough. He moved closer. His claws flexed.
But then he stood. He placed his hand on his chest. His face twisted. And he was grunting.
I heard him choking. His breathing turned uneven. He went down on his knees.
His grunting became louder and blood start spilling from his mouth and eyes.
Dark streaks ran down his face.
I stumbled backwards watching him fight for his life.
His fingers clawed at his chest. He thud to the ground the moment he breathed his last.
His body hit the ground heavily. Everything went quiet.
I looked at his lifeless body. My chest still heaved. His back was soaked with his own blood.
The smell of it hung in the air.
When I looked up I saw Sasha standing. She was not close enough not far.
A few feet away.
Her body was shaking.
And on her palm was his bloody heart.
