Chapter 264: The Petro Sisters

Kiara got home, it was past 10. She parked her car inside the garage, the moment she stepped out of the car, her eyes spotted a red Benz. The sleek sports car was sitting right in the center of the concrete floor, its polished metal reflecting the bright overhead lights like a warning sign.

She squeezed her car key, then took a deep breath before entering the house.

The living room was filled with laughter. The bright sound cut through the quiet hallway, making her instantly stop in her tracks.

Kiara smiled as she walked in, her sister Silviana was sitting down by the single-seated chair. She had her legs crossed elegantly, a fancy teacup resting in her lap as she laughed at something their mother had just said.

While her mother was on another couch, she was doing paperwork, the two were busy talking. The books and documents were scattered all over the cushions around her, a pen gripped tightly in her fingers as she looked up.

"Evening Mommy, Hello Sister." Kiara said greeting them, then she was about to walk to the stairs to her room.

"How was your day baby girl?" Her mom said, setting her pen down on the paperwork with a soft click.

"Fine mommy, I had a very thrilling day.." Kiara said, keeping her tone light and casual while her eyes darted toward the hallway.

"Tired or what, why don’t you stay for a moment.. we are having a mother-daughter bonding time... I was telling Mom about my time abroad." Silviana said. She leaned back against the plush fabric of the chair, a smug little grin playing on her lips as she watched her younger sister freeze.

"I’m sure you had a very wonderful time abroad, if you love it there you should have stayed there, because nobody wants you here.." Kiara said smiling. She kept her lips curved into a sweet, perfect shape, but her voice carried a freezing cold edge that filled the space between them.

"Kiara be nice to your sister." Their mother said, her voice dropping into a stern, warning rumble without looking up from her sheets.

"I am being nice mommy, I’m just saying what is in my heart, like you taught me... when you are married you are supposed to be living with your spouse but my big sister here decides to live with her parents... my sister is leading by example..." Kiara said. She tilted her head sideways, her eyes flashing with pure mockery as she stared right at Silviana’s neat hair.

"Silviana don’t let her words get to you, she is still not over her breakup from Princess so she is being a little bit difficult.." her mom said, waving her hand in the air to dismiss the tension as if it were nothing but a childish tantrum.

"Whatever I’m going to bed." Kiara said, turning her back on them completely and taking two quick steps toward the staircase.

"Kiara," Silviana called. The sharp sound of her voice made Kiara halt....

"What is it sister..?"

"Mom said that one of the books from our private library is missing..." Silviana stated, her fingers tapping against the porcelain side of her teacup with a slow, deliberate rhythm.

"So, why are you telling me."

"Just wondering, only our fingerprints have access to the private library... Mom didn’t do it, I was currently abroad with our Mama..." Silviana said, her eyes narrowing as she laid out the pieces like a puzzle.

"Are you implying that I have something to do with the missing book?" Kiara asked, her body spinning back around to face the living room, her jaw locking tight.

"I’m just saying..."

"You see mom, she hasn’t been here for a month and she is laying false allegations on me.. what am I supposed to be doing with Khushi’s book... I’m barely around that library anyways.." Kiara said, her voice rising in irritation as she looked toward her mother for support.

"I never mentioned the book that was missing." Silviana said. A heavy silence instantly dropped over the room, the older sister’s smile widening into a triumphant grin. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm

"What?"

"You said Khushi’s book..."

"That was because Mommy already told me about it... go to your husband’s house and leave us alone in peace.." Kiara shouted as she climbed the stairs, she took the steps two at a time, her heavy breathing echoing in the stairwell before the loud bang of her bedroom door shook the walls.

Their mother let out a loud, exhausted sigh from the couch, finally dropping her papers onto the table. "You two need to settle your differences and get along... you’re sisters and you never act like it..."

"Mom.. she is the one who acts all bratty.. I was talking so calmly to her..." Silviana defended, setting her empty teacup down on the side tray with a soft rattle.

"Silviana, go to bed... bye bye, I need to finish my paperwork..." her mother ordered, rubbing her temples as she pulled another thick folder into her lap.

"We were having a conversation before she walked in. And you can’t tell me what to do.. I’m not a child anymore."

"You are 25, you are still a child to me even when you are 50 I will still tell you to go to bed... go to bed now." The mother’s voice left absolutely no room for argument, her sharp gaze locking onto her eldest daughter.

Silviana had no choice but to stand up and walk upstairs to her room. She smoothed out her skirt with an annoyed huff before following the same path her sister had taken.

The next morning, in the dining area, both sisters sat down opposite each other having breakfast.. their mother wasn’t in the dining room, she was already in the Petrova library. The table felt entirely too big for just the two of them, the quiet sound of forks clinking against plates filling the air.

While they were eating, Silviana reached for her glass of orange juice, her face completely expressionless.

"I cleared the way for you... how is your progress with the Alpha?" Silviana said, not even looking at her sister.. She kept her eyes fixed on the tablecloth, her voice flat and businesslike.

Kiara’s fork stopped midway, she paused then cleared her throat before speaking.

"I’m trying my best but it seems the Alpha doesn’t have an interest in me anymore." Kiara said, setting her fork down with a quiet clatter. free𝑤ebnovel.com

"You had her, I still don’t understand how you lost her." Silviana remarked, finally lifting her gaze to fix a cold, questioning stare on her sister’s face.

"She cheated on me that’s how I lost her, no she lost me, I didn’t even break up with her after that she was the one who did." Kiara snapped back, her fingers clenching into the fabric of her napkin under the table.

"Something tells me you are the author of the cheating scandal.."

"Really me, why would I want to lose an Alpha, they are the only ones who can free me from this curse which you put me in... my life is so precious that I will do anything to keep it." Kiara said, she was actually saying it in a tiny playful tone looking directly at her. It was a mocking tone. She tilted her chin up, a fake sweet smile plastering onto her face while her eyes burned with hidden anger.

"If you are talking about what happened in the past.. that is the reason I am back to help you... if you just find a way to seduce Princess and get her back..." Silviana leaned forward across the table, her whisper carrying a heavy, dark intensity.

"Do you think it’s easy to seduce Princess..... When I was dating her, she didn’t look at anyone but me and she is with Faye, not just that, they have a family together... do you really think you can break that..." Kiara said, her chest tightening as she remembered the image of the four babies playing inside the clubhouse fences.

"Yes, their love isn’t strong yet.. I can still find a way to break them just like before.. your job is to take advantage of the situation." Silviana stated confidently, tapping her finger against the wood as if it were the easiest task in the world.

"I have heard you sister... let me have my breakfast in peace.. please stop talking, you are hurting my ears.." Kiara muttered, pushing her half-eaten plate away from her with a sharp jerk.

"Finish up and I will drive you to school."

"Sharing the same blood and parents are enough, I don’t want to share a car with you.."

Kiara stood up from her seat, carried her bag and her plate. She left the dining room without waiting for a reply, her heart pounding against her ribs as she flung the front door open and stepped out into the bright morning air, desperate to get as far away from her sister as possible.
