Chapter 247: Adam Kings Was Once Just Like Princess Kings

The two Kings siblings sat next to each other in the hospital waiting area. Neither of them had said a word to each other.

When Princess saw her eldest brother in the room close to her newly formed family, her protective instincts activated. Her inner wolf had snarled, the intense blue in her eyes flaring bright as the scent of her own pups filled her senses. She was ready to make a move at that moment... but Adam simply stepped out of the room, telling her they needed to talk. He hadn’t even blinked at her aggressive stance, walking past her with a slow, deliberate stride that forced her to follow him out into the quiet corridor.

"What is it you want to talk about? I need to go to my family now..." Princess broke the silence between them. She gripped the edge of her chair, as she glared at the man beside her. Every second she spent out here was a second away from Faye and the newborns.

Adam’s legs were crossed. He sat majestically, acting like he wasn’t just trying to intimidate the mother of Princess’s pups minutes ago.

"That omega of yours really has a aggressive tongue. You need..."

"Do not say anything about my girlfriend. She has a name," Princess shot at him. Her voice dropped into a dangerous growl, her chest heaving as she cut him off before he could finish the sentence.

Adam looked at his little sister for a second, then adjusted his tie even though it was already perfect. He didn’t look angry, just mildly annoyed by her sudden outburst, his fingers smoothing down the dark silk with absolute precision.

"I got your message. I came to give you my best wishes, as we happen to be siblings, and because you made me promise during our late mother’s memorial anniversary," he said. His tone was flat, completely devoid of any real warmth or brotherly affection.

"So you are not here because you want to be, but because you needed to free yourself from the promise you made last December?" Princess asked, her jaw clenching tightly. A wave of bitter disappointment washed through her stomach, making her feel completely foolish for hoping he had actually cared enough to show up on his own.

"I’m a man of my word." He stated simply, his head tilting up as if that settled the matter completely.

Princess stood up from the chair. She couldn’t take the cold atmosphere any longer... She rather be with Faye and the pups instead.

"Sit down. I am not done talking to you," Adam said. The command was smooth, but it carried the heavy weight of an older Alpha trying to lock her in place.

"You have shown up, so you should leave." Princess retorted, refusing to look back at him as she took another step away.

"This is my hospital, the Kings Hospital. I have every right to be here, and I also have the right not to allow you and the omega to be cared for. I have absolute authority... so sit down if you don’t want me to give the order and have your so-called family thrown out." He said, his voice remaining level and calm while he delivered the threat.

Princess had no choice because Adam was right. He had the power to do whatever he wanted. Gramps gave him that power. He could easily pull the medical staff, cancel their recovery room, and make their lives a living hell before the babies could even be properly examined.

So she sat down. She dropped back into the chair, her shoulders tense and her fists balled up in her lap as she forced herself to swallow her pride for the sake of her family. freēwēbηovel.c૦m

"You are my little sister, and I am the eldest. I’m only here to help. Take my advice, marry someone else and legitimize your little ones. That way, he will consider taking you back in." Adam continued, talking about her children as if they were just assets that needed the correct paperwork to be valuable to the family pack.

"I always thought that family name was something special. Without that name, I was a nobody. My life was going to be over, and I would never become what I wanted to be... but that’s a lie. There’s nothing special about being a Kings." Princess said, her voice shaking slightly as she let the words out. She looked down at her lap, the heavy burden of the name finally feeling like nothing but a joke.

"Being a Kings means having absolute power. Not just our pack, but every pack around the world fears us when they hear our name. Even the Royal Family can’t stand a chance against our family name... that name is freedom of will." Adam countered, his eyes lighting up with that cold, familiar obsession that drove everything he did.

"No, it’s not. It’s a shackle meant to tie one down and drain you until there’s nothing left. After losing my strikes, I finally felt what Leo felt... the freedom to do anything. I don’t have to think about losing or winning anymore." Princess argued, her chest rising as she took a deep, grounding breath. For the first time in her life, the lack of pack rank didn’t feel like a failure, it felt like she could finally breathe without someone counting her mistakes.

"Do you need a mind reset? Because you are speaking gibberish." Adam scoffed, waving his hand as if her words were completely worthless to him.

"You are the one who needs a mind reset. You changed. This is not who you used to be. I remember the brother who used to laugh and play tag. We used to go paintballing every weekend. You would carry me on your shoulders and run around the playground because all you wanted was to have fun all day." Princess said. She leaned closer, her voice dropping into a soft, desperate plea as she stared into his masked face, searching for any sign of the boy she grew up with.

Princess stared at her brother, but he wasn’t moved by her soft voice. He sat there like a statue, his expression completely blank, his eyes remaining as cold as stone.

During his teenage years, her brother was never like this. The coldness, the obsession with being perfect, it all began when their mother died... and it became worse when he got married. The weight of the family business and the strict expectations of their grandfather had slowly chipped away at him until the fun, laughing boy was completely erased. He became his opposite.

But Princess never gave up on him. They were still on good terms until the stupid strike happened.

Adam Kings was once just like Princess Kings.

"He’s dead. That brother is long dead." Adam said, his voice dropping into a quiet, hollow whisper that sounded older than he actually was.

"Then I need you to raise him back from the dead. Because right now, you are not my brother, but an imposter feeding his mind with the fear that he is nothing without power." Princess said, her eyes burning as she looked at him one last time.

"He is not coming back."
