Chapter 237: Faye’s Baby Shower (5)
"What did I do? Why are you calling me a cheater?"
Princess asked, looking at Faye’s face. Her face wasn’t calm at all. Princess was confused, wondering what had gone wrong. She threw her hands up slightly, her eyes wide as she tried to read the furious expression staring back at her.
"You don’t like the puppet? Or do you want to eat something?" Princess leaned closer, her voice dropping into a gentle, careful tone like she was stepping on eggshells.
"You cheater, cheater, cheater..." Faye repeated, pouting. She crossed her arms tightly over her chest, her breathing heavy as she glared right through her girlfriend.
"I am no cheater. I have never cheated on you," Princess said, rethinking her words, still not understanding what her girlfriend meant. She shook her head quickly, her jaw tightening as she ran through every single thing she had done over the past week to see where she could have messed up.
But the lap dancing incident was already settled... And that was a misunderstanding..
Everyone looked at Faye as she called Princess names. They were also confused. A minute ago, they had been acting like lovebirds, and now it was the complete opposite. They exchanged blank stares, the sudden shift in the air making everyone freeze mid-sip and mid-laugh.
The kids were also aware of the scene, looking at each other and trying to figure out what had happened to their aunties. Kaye dropped his hand from behind the cardboard stage, his small face puckering up as he glanced at his aunty.
Faye’s face turned teary. Her finger pointed toward the kids’ puppets, and her voice broke as she began to cry. A hot wave of tears blurred her vision, her lower lip trembling violently as the emotional weight of the day finally crashed down on her.
"We agreed that we wouldn’t check their genders until they arrived, but you went behind my back and cheated!" she cried out.
Princess looked both surprised and confused by how hard Faye was crying. Some people were silently laughing, trying to hold back their amusement at the pregnant girl. Sasha had to press a napkin over her mouth to muffle her giggles, her shoulders bobbing up and down.
Kiara shook her head in disbelief as she stared at the couple. She slouched back in her lawn chair, rolling her eyes at the pure drama unfolding right in front of the stage.
Alex quickly pulled out his phone and snapped a picture of the crying Faye. The bright screen illuminated his smirking face as he tapped the capture button before she could notice.
"Yo, is that how pregnant people act? So... bonkers, I can’t believe this is the same Faye who used to...."
Dave stopped mid-sentence. He was standing beside Paye and Eriko, but Eriko turned to look at him. The dude immediately shut up when he realized who was beside him. Paye’s eyebrows came together in a heavy glare, and Dave swallowed hard, taking a slow step back finding his group.
As Faye cried, Princess followed the direction she was pointing. Her eyes tracked from Faye’s shaking finger straight to the colorful sock puppets hanging in the opening of the cardboard box.
"Genders? I did not check any genders. A gender reveal isn’t even part of the event." Princess shook her head firmly, her hands coming up to gently grasp Faye’s wrists to pull them away from her face.
"Liar! Why is it blue, blue, blue, and pink? Why not the TMNT colors?" Faye sobbed, blinking through her wet eyelashes as she yelled out her accusation. freeωebnovēl.c૦m
"It’s their play. I don’t know why they’re using those colors. Dina, why the colors?" Princess asked. She snapped her head toward the stage, her flaring up for a second as she demanded an explanation from the kids.
"Because they represent the babies. Three boys and one girl," Dina answered. She poked her head out from behind the cardboard box, her tone completely matter of fact as she stated the obvious.
Faye’s crying became even louder, sounding like a newborn baby. She let out a loud, dramatic wail, burying her face straight into Princess’s neck while her hands gripped the back of her shirt.
Princess immediately tried to calm her down. She wrapped her arms securely around Faye’s back, rocking her gently side to side while rubbing her palms against her spine.
"Calm down, baby. I swear I didn’t tell them anything, and I’m just finding out too."
"Don’t you ever tell me to calm down! This is not fair!" Faye cried. Her voice was muffled against Princess’s shoulder, her fingers tightening into the fabric as she let out another heavy sob.
"For God’s sake, this has turned into an automatic baby factory," Kiara said. She rubbed her temples, looking completely exhausted by the sudden waterworks.
"Who told you two about the pups’ genders?" Malo asked from near the stage. He leaned forward, his hands resting on the edge of the wooden platform as his eyes narrowed in curiosity.
The two kids pointed toward Henry, who was busy eating cake. He had no idea what was happening, but he looked up the moment they pointed at him. A massive piece of frosting was smeared on his upper lip, his fork freezing halfway to his mouth.
Everyone’s eyes turned toward him. The entire yard went completely silent, decades of experience and attention shifting onto the quiet wolf boy.
His throat moved with a heavy gulp, his eyes darting nervously from People over to Princess and Faye.
"Henry, how did you know?" Princess asked. Her voice was steady, but her eyes were fixed on him with deep intensity.
"Know what?" he replied. He lowered his fork slowly, his chest rising and falling with a defensive breath.
"Why did you check my pups’ genders?" Faye asked. She lifted her head from Princess’s shoulder, her puffy as she wiped a stray tear with the back of her hand.
"I didn’t tell anyone. I kept it a secret because you wanted it to stay a secret," Henry said. He looked directly at Faye, his voice calm and entirely honest as he stood his ground.
Now everyone’s attention shifted back to the kids.
"We saw his room. There were 4 toy trains. Three had the word Boy on them, and one had Girl. When we asked him, he said they were for his friend’s pups. He was planning to gift them to them." Dina explained, crossing her small arms as she laid out the evidence.
Nobody said anything. A heavy, thoughtful silence descended over the yard, the rustle of the wind through the trees the only sound left.
The fact that Henry knew the genders raised many questions, but nobody pushed further. The boy was strange and had extra abilities that were difficult to explain.
Pali suggested that it might be because his mother was a Were-Witch, but that didn’t seem possible. A Were couldn’t keep their wolf and inherit witch powers at the same time, it had to be one or the other. When a child was born from two different Were bloodlines, the stronger gene usually won.
Princess eventually calmed her girlfriend down, and the kids continued their show. She fed Faye chocolate from the snack table, whispering soft words into her ear until the pouting finally stopped and Faye settled back into her chair.
The party went on. The neon butterflies continued to drift lazily through the dark night sky, their glowing wings casting soft patches of color over the laughing crowd as the music kicked back up.
