Chapter 177: Getting Discharged.

It was the day I was finally going to be discharged, after spending almost three fucking months in that hospital room. I was finally free from the clutches of that bed and the smell of antiseptic that had started to feel like part of my skin. I had one week of intensive therapy there before they let me go. I spent hours with a therapist who kept talking at me, trying to make me open up about my fears and let everything go like it was as simple as exhaling. I wasn’t able to open up. I was still locked in, the walls around my mind thicker than the ones in the mansion. It was more like I didn’t trust anyone, not even the professionals with their soft voices and clipboards.

I was now six months pregnant. I looked so heavy, my center of gravity completely shifted. Feeling my pups move inside me, those little kicks and rolls, was enough to know they were doing perfectly fine despite everything. The nurse pushed my wheelchair through the sliding glass doors to the parking lot where Princess was waiting. She had the car running already. After I managed to get in, waving a final goodbye to the staff, Princess leaned over and helped me with the seatbelt. I finally glanced at her, really looking at her face in the natural light. When she looked back at me, she formed a small smile, trying to ease my heart and settle my nerves.

"So, do you want to go to Eriko’s cottage or my club?" she asked politely. Her voice was careful, like she was afraid of saying the wrong thing.

I noticed something was off about her. Something had changed in the way she carried herself. She looked tired, but in a deep, soul-heavy way. I knew I must have given her a tough time. She had spent months dealing with my trauma, sitting by my side through the night while I screamed or cried, and she did it all without saying a single word of complaint.

"Thank you, Princess..." I muttered. I watched her as she waited for my response before she even thought about turning the wheel.

"For what?" she asked, her brow furrowing slightly.

"Thank you for taking care of me. Thank you so much for not leaving," I said.

She smiled softly at me, reaching out to brush a stray hair from my face.

"No, Omega, I should be the one thanking you for coming back to me. You are the only family I have now, so it’s my duty to protect and take care of you. You’re my home," she said.

I rested my head back against the seat, closing my eyes for a second. I let the reality of being out of the hospital sink in before I spoke again.

"Take me to the cottage..." I said. Then I opened my eyes, staring at her with everything I felt. "So I can get my things and move in with you. I want to spend the rest of my life with you, Pancake."

Immediately, Princess leaned in and gave me a quick kiss on the cheek. As she was about to pull away, I didn’t let her. I caught her lips with mine instead. So many months without my girlfriend felt like hell. I had missed every single part of her during those long nights in the mansion and the hazy days in the hospital. I missed kissing her more than I could put into words.

When we finally got to the cottage. Everyone was there. The moment Princess opened the front door, the house exploded with noise.

"Welcome home, Faye!" everyone shouted at once. There was a big, messy banner draped across the living room that said Welcome Back in bright colors. Malo was blowing a small plastic trumpet with way too much energy, while Kaye and Dina stood in the middle of the room holding a giant cake.

"Welcome back, Aunty Faye! Blow the candle!" Dina said, her eyes wide with excitement.

I smiled, a real one this time, and tried to bend down to their level. I was slower now. My tummy was really, really heavy and my back ached, but I still managed to lean over and blow out the candles.

The moment the flames went out, Kaye and Dina were already eager to slice the cake. They had clearly been waiting for me just so they could justify eating the icing.

Then I saw my brother standing near the kitchen. He had a longing, teary expression on his face. He was speechless, just standing there not knowing what to say or where to put his hands. I walked over and hugged him, squeezing him tight to make him understand he didn’t need to say anything at all.

"My little puppy... I’m just so glad you’re doing well. I’m so sorry I couldn’t protect you better," he cried as he held me. He had been going on about that since I woke up in the hospital. No one had told him the full truth about the kidnapping. Malo had said he didn’t want Paye to worry and was afraid my brother might spiral and try to take me away from Oakland again to hide me.

"It’s fine, brother. I’m better now. Your little sister has more people who can take care of her now, and I can also take care of myself," I said, pulling back to wipe a tear from his cheek.

The little party was clearly planned by Princess and Malo. They wanted me to feel better, to feel happy and surrounded by life. I watched as my friends celebrated my return like it was a holiday. Eriko and Paye were in the dining room already eating their cake, while Dina and Kaye ran circles around the coffee table, smearing icing on each other’s faces and laughing.

I can’t believe I’m finally home. My family is right here in front of me.

I looked down, placing my hand on my tummy, feeling a small kick against my palm.

I just can’t wait to meet my pups. I can’t wait to hold them for the first time and see their faces.

Princess wrapped her arms around me from behind, resting her chin on my shoulder and kissing my cheek.

"Thank you, Princess..." I whispered so only she could hear.

"Anything for you, baby," she whispered back. ƒгeewebnovёl.com

As we were enjoying ourselves, just living our best life and forgeting the outside world for a moment, I heard a set of footsteps coming from above. They were coming from the attic where Yuki had stayed before she showed me her true colors and ruined everything. free𝑤ebnovel.com

The sound made my heart skip a beat. I wondered who it could possibly be.

"Eriko, who’s up there?" I asked, my voice getting a bit sharper.

"Oh, that’s just our new neighbor. He moved in about two months ago. He must have just gotten back from work," Eriko said, not looking up from his cake.

New neighbor? Really? Did Eriko actually rent out the room again after what happened with Yuki?

"Who is that? Why would you rent the room out again so soon?" I asked. I felt a wave of unease wash over me, my skin crawling at the thought of a stranger living in that same space.

Just as Eriko was about to respond and explain himself, the door to the attic stairs opened.

"Did I miss the cake?" a childish, familiar voice said.

When I looked at the face coming down the stairs, I was in for a massive surprise.
