Chapter 134: Thank You Omega
The pause has been great, but I could still see the signs of Princess breaking. She was trying so hard to hide the fact that she was actually fine with Yuki now living in the house, but the cracks were there if you looked close enough.
Princess drove me to a barbecue restaurant close to the mall. The smell of grilled meat and charcoal hit us the second we stepped out of the Porsche. When I was about to sit down, she moved quickly and gently pulled out the chair for me. It was a smooth move, totally deliberate. We had to cook the meat and other food on our table, which was cool because it gave us something to do with our hands. When I tried cutting my meat into smaller pieces, Princess reached over and did it for me. She was smiling the whole time, but it was that bright, focused smile she gets when she’s on a mission. She didn’t say much during the meal. She just kept laughing at almost everything I said, even the stuff that wasn’t that funny.
The moment I realized exactly what she was doing was when she reached out and tapped my head gently. She did it just like I was a kitten and called me a good girl.
My heart skipped a beat, but not in the good way. She was trying to do exactly what Yuki has been doing. Everything she did that night was something Yuki would do. It was like she was following a manual. Even when I came out of the house earlier to meet her, she had looked me up and down and asked why I didn’t wear my lace shoes.
Those kids have been feeding her information from day one. I knew it. Dina and Kaye weren’t just hanging out; they were spying. When I get home, I am definitely going to bounce on Kaye. He’s going to have a lot of explaining to do. Who gave him that right?
But why was she trying to act like Yuki? Was she trying to out-do her at her own game? Or was she still on that type of shit, her still on that Not My Type...?
Since we were technically on pause, I swallowed my questions. I didn’t want to break the spell. I just kept my head down and continued eating.
"How was your bonding with your brothers?" I asked. I was trying to distract myself and move the conversation to something safer.
"It was amazing. We stayed in the mansion for two days, just relaxing. Then we traveled around, cherishing good moments together. Nothing much, just family time," Princess said. She used her chopsticks to pick up a piece of seasoned meat and held it out toward me, trying to feed me.
"I can eat by myself, Princess. I’m not a baby," I said. I felt a little embarrassed, especially with people at the other tables potentially watching.
But she didn’t take no for an answer. she just held it there, her eyes locked on mine, until I had no choice but to open my mouth and take the bite. She looked satisfied after that.
"So how have my pups been doing?" she asked, her voice softening.
"They’re doing good. I’ve been having some morning sickness lately and sometimes I get a little dizziness, but I’m fine. The maternity teacher said it’s normal," I assured her. She nodded, processing my words like she was taking mental notes.
"I can see you are glowing. You’re becoming more beautiful than the last time I saw you. It suits you," she said. She pushed some plates toward me. "You should try the side dishes. They’re delicious. You should eat healthy so my pups can be healthy and strong, just like me."
Princess kept feeding me throughout the night. Kimchi, corn cheese, salad. She was trying her hardest to act like a gentleman, but she still had that dominant trait that couldn’t be hidden. She was taking care of me, but she was doing it on her terms.
After dinner, she took me to a small dessert stand near the exit. I ordered a piece of chocolate cake. Again, she tried to feed me the first bite, and I finally got tired of being the only one getting pampered. I grabbed her chicken pie and started feeding her back, doing the exact same thing she was doing to me. She looked surprised for a second, then her eyes crinkled as she laughed.
When we were about to leave, I pulled the vendor aside. I ordered a whole cake and told him to write something specific on it.
When Princess asked what I was doing, I told her I wanted to eat the dessert at her clubhouse. She said she had other places she wanted to take me, maybe a drive by the lake, but I told her I was sleepy and tired. I asked her to just take me to her house.
A little while later, I was on her bed. The room was familiar and smelled like her. Princess was in the closet, changing out of her suit and into her sleepwear. I carefully brought out the cake from the box and placed it on the side drawer. I looked around for a lighter so I could light the single candle I had tucked in my pocket. I spotted one on the other side of the bed, grabbed it, and lit the wick.
The moment she stepped out of the closet, she looked completely different. She was wearing these oversized, fuzzy pajamas. She looked like some kind of stuffed koala. freёwebnovel.com
"Happy Birthday, Princess!" I yelled across the room.
She froze in her tracks. She just stood there, staring at me with no expression on her face at all.
"I know I’m late saying this, but it’s still the month, and you didn’t tell me. I had to hear it from our classmates..." I said.
Okay, the classmates part was a lie and probably a bit much, but I didn’t want to say Malo’s name incase she was not happy about me wishing her.
She walked toward me slowly. I was sitting on the edge of the bed while the cake rested on the drawer, the candlelight casting long shadows. She bent down to look at the frosting properly.
"Happy Birthday, Mommy," she read out loud. freeweɓnovel.cѳm
"By this time next year, we’ll have our pups here with us. And I’m sure every December 2nd, they’ll want to wish their mommy a happy birthday... so I thought, why don’t we start the tradition this year?"
Before I could even finish what I was saying, she leaned forward. She hugged my waist tightly and gently placed her ear against my stomach. She went totally quiet. I could feel her breathing through her pajamas.
"I can’t wait to meet them," she whispered. Her voice was thick with emotion. "I’ll make sure I’m always there for their birthdays. I’ll never miss one... They sound so peaceful in there, and their little heartbeat sounds like a rhythm... I love this. I really love this. This is the best birthday gift I’ve ever had. I promise to cherish them forever."
I felt a lump in my throat. I placed my hand on her soft hair, smiling down at her.
"You’re going to be the best mommy ever, Princess."
"And you too. You’re going to be the best mommy ever. Thank you, Omega, for giving me this birthday present."
