Chapter 89: Chapter 89: Freeloading a Meal and Scoring a Horse

"What brings you here again? Are you done with your business?" Su Chen asked, looking at Si Cong, who was sitting across from him.

"Yeah, the e-sports league business was mostly settled already. This trip to the Imperial Capital was just to finalize the details and divvy up the spoils."

Si Cong didn’t hide a thing, explaining everything. He particularly mentioned how they established unified regulations for the entire e-sports industry and carved out their respective territories.

Shanghai was particularly sought after by several clubs, as everyone knew it would be the future epicenter of the e-sports industry.

"Tsk, tsk. You guys certainly have a sharp eye. The e-sports industry has barely started to take off, and you’ve already got it all locked down!"

Si Cong just smiled and didn’t respond. After all, everyone understood how these things worked. You could only get a piece of the pie if everyone ate together; trying to hog it all for yourself would just be a quick path to failure.

"So, are you planning to head back to Shanghai?"

Si Cong shook his head. "I’ll be staying in the Imperial Capital for the next few days. At the end of the month, I’m flying to Gaul. This year’s LoL finals are about to start, and the team under my company..."

He seemed to remember something and quickly corrected himself, "Our e-sports club made it to the World Championship finals. I’m going to watch them play live!"

"Hmm? Gaul? You’re saying this year’s LoL finals are in Gaul?" Su Chen asked, setting down his teacup.

"Yeah... what’s up?" Si Cong found it a little strange that Su Chen was interested in this. He knew for a fact that Su Chen barely even played video games.

Back in Shanghai, Si Cong had tried to get him to play games a few times. After two attempts, Si Cong regretted it. Su Chen’s skills were abysmal, and his utter lack of game sense made Si Cong understand the true meaning of a "gaming black hole."

Si Cong never asked Su Chen to play games with him again after that.

"It’s nothing much. Arno invited me to visit Gaul a while back, so I was thinking maybe I could go with you and check it out."

Si Cong was taken aback. Arno! He certainly knew that famous name. If Su Chen went to Gaul with him, he could ride Su Chen’s coattails and maybe even build a bit of a rapport with the legendary president of the Louis Vuitton Group!

"Yes! Let’s go together! We can hang out in Gaul. And didn’t you say you wanted to buy a private jet? As it happens, there’s a private jet exhibition in Gaul in the middle of next month. You could go check it out!"

Buying a private jet is incredibly complicated, not like buying a car where you can just pick a model, purchase it, and drive it home the same day.

The purchasing process for a private jet is extremely tedious. You have to fill out a pre-order form, confirm the aircraft model, various specifications, and interior design before the manufacturer even begins construction.

From purchase to delivery, a private jet takes a minimum of one year, and can even take several years.

The vast majority of that time is spent just waiting in line.

Of course... if you buy a pre-owned private jet, you can avoid most of that hassle.

You just pay, sign the contract, arrange for a flight crew, and secure your flight routes, and you’re all set.

"Sounds good. I’ll fly to Gaul with you, then," Su Chen quickly decided.

The main reason was the system upgrade. Su Chen had taken a moment to check, and he’d only gained a quarter of the experience needed to reach the advanced-level system.

’The upgrade feels like it’s a lifetime away.’

He didn’t know what to buy in the country. He couldn’t just buy a bunch of houses to rent out... ’That seems a bit beneath me!’

"Alright! I’ll make sure everything’s perfectly arranged for you," Si Cong said with a grin.

Su Chen felt a vein throb in his forehead. He knew exactly what Si Cong was implying—that he’d set him up with some beautiful foreign women.

’Am I that kind of vulgar person?’

"By the way, are you busy this afternoon? Want to grab a meal with me?"

"Hmm? A meal? What’s the occasion? It’s not for that e-sports league of yours, is it?" Su Chen asked, raising a skeptical eyebrow.

"It’s someone from the entertainment industry. You know that blockbuster movie *Wolf Warrior* from a while back? The director, Wu Jing, is treating me to a meal."

As soon as he said that, Su Chen understood.

He’d heard that when director Wu Jing was filming the movie, he had mortgaged his own house. Halfway through production, he ran out of money, to say nothing of the budget for post-production effects. In the end, it was Si Cong who had provided timely assistance.

Su Chen had found it amusing at the time, but he hadn’t expected the story to be true. It just went to show that Si Cong really did have a good eye for investments; he’d made a fortune on that movie.

Su Chen had seen the movie too, though not in theaters. He’d waited until it was available for free.

To be honest, he quite liked the movie, even though a lot of people online were trashing it.

"Alright then! Looks like I’ll be mooching a free meal off of Young Master Si Cong today!" He had nothing better to do anyway, so he might as well go check it out and meet some new people.

"Let me give you a heads-up, this meal isn’t at some fancy hotel. It seems to be at some villa in the suburbs of the Imperial Capital. I’m not too clear on the details myself."

Su Chen shot him a sidelong glance. "You make it sound like I only ever go to fancy hotels."

"I was just worried it might not be to your liking!" Si Cong quickly explained.

...

After lunch, the two of them drove straight to the villa in the suburbs.

Su Chen even brought a bottle of Maotai as a gift. Of course, it was an aged bottle that Jiangyang had given him previously.

"This is it? It doesn’t really look like a villa," Si Cong said, checking the navigation. It was definitely the address Wu Jing had sent him.

"This must be the place," Su Chen said. He could already see the large characters on the main gate.

"Daxing Yu Qian Horse Farm & Resort!"

’Yu Qian?’ Su Chen thought for a moment. ’It couldn’t be the guy from the De Yun Society, could it? Then again, it would make sense. After all, Wu Jing and Yu Qian are practically sworn brothers.’

Just as Si Cong drove up to the entrance, the main gate swung open automatically.

A tour cart came into view, driven by none other than the famous Yu Qian, with Wu Jing sitting beside him!

"President Wang, I’m so sorry to make you come all this way!" Wu Jing said apologetically as he walked up to Si Cong’s car.

He had originally planned to book a table at a big hotel in the Imperial Capital, but Yu Qian suggested it would be better to host it at his horse farm, where they could serve up something more unique.

They could also ride horses, go fishing, and have some fun. It was a much better way to get to know each other than just sitting in a hotel.

Wu Jing had agreed it was a good idea, which was why he’d arranged the meal here!

"It’s no problem!" Si Cong said with a smile and a wave of his hand.

Si Cong genuinely didn’t mind. There wasn’t a hotel dish he hadn’t tried. For him, it was the thought that counted; as long as the gesture was sincere, he’d happily eat at a roadside stall.

Wu Jing also noticed Su Chen in the passenger seat, but he didn’t ask who he was. After all, it wasn’t the right time or place. free𝑤ebnovel.com

"Let’s head inside first!"

Si Cong drove in, following Yu Qian’s tour cart. As soon as he entered the horse farm, he realized there was much more to it than met the eye.

"This is practically a private zoo!" freewebnσvel.cѳm

On the way in, Su Chen saw at least five or six different kinds of animals, like monkeys, alpacas, and even chickens, ducks, and geese...

But the most numerous, of course, were the horses—all of them waist-high ponies.

Soon, the cars stopped in front of a two-story Western-style house. Two young men were standing by the door.

When they saw Si Cong’s car stop, the two quickly jogged over to either side of the car.

The one who opened the door for Su Chen was a young man who looked to be about twenty years old.

"Welcome, President Wang, and you, sir, to my humble menagerie! Please, come in!" Yu Qian said with a hearty laugh.

Su Chen grabbed the liquor from the trunk. "I’m just here to freeload today, so consider this a small gift."

With that, he handed the bottle over.

Wu Jing and Yu Qian exchanged a glance, and in the end, it was Wu Jing who stepped forward to accept it.

"You’re too kind, sir. Any friend of President Wang is a friend of mine. Your presence is the greatest gift of all!"

Wu Jing then took the opportunity to ask, "And I’m sorry, I haven’t had the pleasure of learning your name..."

"You can drop the formalities. It’s Su. Su Chen."

’Anyone who comes with Si Cong must be in the same circle. I have to treat him carefully.’ After so many years in the entertainment industry, Wu Jing was no longer the reckless greenhorn who had tried to make it on his own in Xiangjiang.

"President Wang, Mr. Su, please, come inside." Wu Jing gestured them in with his right hand, holding the gift bag in his left.

Su Chen led the way inside, with Si Cong following at his side, just half a step behind. This small detail did not escape the notice of Wu Jing and Yu Qian, who were walking behind them.

The two exchanged a look, both taking a sharp breath.

"Old Wu," Yu Qian began in a low voice, "you’d better be on your best behavior today. If..."

Yu Qian didn’t finish his sentence, but Wu Jing knew exactly what he meant. He nodded gravely. "This is also an opportunity."

With that, the two of them hurried to catch up.

...

"This horse farm is pretty big!"

Su Chen was now walking along a concrete path on the farm with Yu Qian. As for Si Cong, he had stayed inside to chat with Wu Jing.

"It’s about 40,000 square meters. I’ve poured a lot of my heart and soul into it, especially the horses." Yu Qian sounded a little wistful as he looked at the ponies ambling about in their paddock, a testament to his affection.

Su Chen looked at the ponies. ’If I sat on one of those,’ he thought, ’it’d probably just collapse.’

A brown pony ambled up to them and nickered a few times.

"Looks like this little rascal is hungry. Mr. Su, would you like to try feeding him?"

Yu Qian then fetched a small bundle of carrots from a nearby feed box. The box was specifically placed there for visitors to make feeding the horses easy.

The idea of feeding the horse piqued Su Chen’s interest. He took a few carrots from Yu Qian and began to feed the pony.

The pony ate incredibly fast, devouring a whole carrot in just a few chomps.

Seeing how cute the pony was, Su Chen couldn’t resist reaching out to stroke its head.

Yu Qian, watching from the side, had an idea. He promptly said, "Mr. Su, would you be interested in sponsoring a pony?"

"Sponsor?" Su Chen stopped feeding the horse and turned to look at Yu Qian, puzzled.

"Yes. You’d ’sponsor’ a pony you like, and I’ll keep and raise it here at my farm. You can come visit it whenever you have the time."

Su Chen immediately understood what Yu Qian was getting at. ’What a sly old fox.’

After a moment’s thought, Su Chen nodded in agreement. He had a pretty good impression of Yu Qian.

"Alright, I’ll sponsor one."

"Hmm? Old Su, what are you sponsoring?"

At some point, Si Cong and Wu Jing had come over and sat down behind them.

"A pony. You want to get one too?" Su Chen said, arching an eyebrow.

Si Cong gave Su Chen a surprised look, wondering what he was up to, but he nodded along anyway. "Sure. Uncle Qian, can I sponsor one too?"

"No problem! Of course, no problem!" Yu Qian agreed without a moment’s hesitation.
