Chapter 101: Chapter 95: Not One of Them is Simple! They’re All Old Foxes
"Miss Shuraya, what brings you here in person?"
Su Chen was about to greet her when Jack, who was beside them, beat him to it with even more enthusiasm.
He stood up from the sofa and, with a fawning smile, sidled up to Shuraya.
The sight left Su Chen and Si Cong dumbfounded. Judging by Jack’s behavior, it seemed this first special assistant to Arno had some other, unknown status.
Shuraya gave Jack a slight nod before walking over to Su Chen with a beaming smile.
"Haha! Shuraya, and here I thought you were just a special assistant. I never expected you to have so much hidden up your sleeve!" Su Chen teased, a peculiar glint in his eyes.
In truth, Su Chen had a strange feeling for a while, ever since the day she picked him up from the airport. He could never figure out why Arno would send a mere assistant to greet him.
Even a first special assistant wasn’t high-status enough!
Now, he finally understood. Shuraya was most likely a member of the Arno family—perhaps even Arno’s daughter! There was no other reason for Jack to be so fawning; he must have known who she really was.
’I wonder if it’s true. But if it is, why would someone with Shuraya’s status want to be a special assistant? Wouldn’t it be better to just enjoy the life of an heiress at home?’
’Unless... Arno is grooming Shuraya to be the future successor of the Louis Vuitton Group.’ With that thought, everything Su Chen had been pondering fell into place.
"My apologies, Mr. Su. I didn’t mean to hide it. Only a handful of people in the entire group know my identity. My father just wanted me to get some real-world training to prepare me for taking over the company one day," Shuraya said apologetically.
Shuraya then gave a brief explanation of her identity, which was mostly in line with what Su Chen had guessed. The only surprise was that Shuraya, as the eldest daughter of the Arno family, personally owned seven-point-five percent of the Louis Vuitton Group’s shares.
That part took Su Chen by surprise. He hadn’t expected that she, as the eldest daughter, would hold such a significant stake.
Upon further questioning, he learned that Shuraya wasn’t just the eldest daughter; she was also the first-in-line heir to the Arno family.
’Tsk, tsk. She’s really something else.’
Thinking back on their previous interactions, Su Chen couldn’t help but smile. ’How interesting,’ he mused.
Hearing that Shuraya owned seven-point-five percent of the Louis Vuitton Group, Si Cong’s eyes darted back and forth as the gears in his mind began to turn. ’If I could marry her,’ he schemed, ’she’d be the ultimate patron!’
’Plus, with a status like that—heir to the number one family in Gaul—if I brought her back to Huaxia, wouldn’t I be doing a great service to the nation?’
’After all, Shuraya isn’t just the heir to the Arno family. She’s worth hundreds of billions, she’s gorgeous, has a great figure, and isn’t even thirty yet. Isn’t that the dream woman every man desires?’
’Who wouldn’t want to snag a sugar mama like that?’
But in the end, it was nothing more than Si Cong’s fantasy.
Si Cong was self-aware enough to know the truth. With his Huaxia face, he’d never catch Shuraya’s eye. Even if the Wang family was one of the most powerful in the country, she would never give him a second glance.
After all, these European families valued bloodline above all else!
"Mr. Su, are you planning on purchasing a private jet?" Shuraya asked, her eyes shifting slightly as she feigned curiosity.
"Yes, I’m planning to buy one. Unfortunately, if I order now, I’ll have to wait two and a half years. That’s just too long," Su Chen said, sounding genuinely disappointed.
There were used private jets on the market, of course, often sold at a twenty or thirty percent discount. But was Su Chen the kind of person who needed to save a few tens of millions?
He just didn’t want to be in a position where, if someone asked, he’d have to admit his private jet was second-hand.
’Did he, Su Chen, not have face to lose?’
Noticing the fleeting expression on Su Chen’s face, Shuraya made a quick calculation in her mind before saying with a faint smile, "Mr. Su, the Group pre-ordered three private jets from Bombardier a while ago—two large and one small. As it happens, the handover is scheduled for the next couple of days."
"As the Group’s largest private shareholder, Mr. Su, you are entitled to the unconditional, year-round use of one of the private jets."
Year-round use? How could Su Chen fail to grasp the meaning behind Shuraya’s words?
Although the jet would technically belong to the Group, the rights to use it would be his. All the maintenance, insurance, and airport fees—which amounted to a huge sum each year—would be covered by the Group. Su Chen wouldn’t have to pay a single penny.
To put it bluntly, all Su Chen had to do was agree, and he would get a large private jet for free. It might not technically be his, but there was no practical difference.
’She’s finding a roundabout way to give me benefits.’ Su Chen couldn’t help but marvel that none of these people from prominent families were simple.
Take Si Cong, for example, who was always trailing him. He might look like a loafer who wasn’t up to any serious business, but he never missed an opportunity to invest and make money. Su Chen had heard that Si Cong had already set up the company structure for that wine venture and had even shipped off a portion of the aged wine from the warehouse.
Of course, Si Cong had the decency to leave the vintages aged forty to fifty years for him.
Jack, standing to the side, was experiencing a whirlwind of emotions. He never imagined that these two had such extraordinary backgrounds that they would command such respect from the heir of the Arno family...
