Chapter 32: Chapter 32: First in the Monthly Exam

Mr. Rhodes’s face was white with rage as he stared speechlessly at Mr. Sinclair.

Yuna Rhodes looked even more aghast. Her face was a mask of disbelief when she heard Mr. Sinclair announce that Chloe Sinclair had ranked first in the entire school.

She stepped forward and pointed at Chloe Sinclair. "Impossible! She must have cheated! Don’t let Chloe Sinclair fool you! On the last monthly exam, she was dead last in the whole school. How could she possibly improve this fast? You definitely cheated!"

"That’s right, Dad. Even though Chloe has been studying hard lately, there’s no way she could rank first in the entire grade."

Nina Sinclair, standing to the side, also grew anxious.

But in her heart, she was still siding with Yuna Rhodes.

Just as Yuna had said, Chloe Sinclair hadn’t even scored a combined 100 points across all subjects on the first monthly exam. Yet, just one month later, she had managed to rank first in the entire grade.

No one would believe it.

Mr. Sinclair’s expression darkened. Ignoring Nina, he snorted and demanded, "Didn’t you say you and Chloe were good friends? Tell me, what kind of friend accuses another of cheating in front of so many people?"

Yuna Rhodes’s face paled, and she instinctively glanced at Nina Sinclair.

’This is bad,’ Nina Sinclair thought. As she looked up, her eyes met Mr. Sinclair’s. freeωebnovēl.c૦m

Mr. Sinclair’s dark pupils were as tranquil as the night sky, their depths holding an inscrutable light.

He just stared at Nina quietly, and the scrutiny instantly sent a chill down her spine.

Her face was ashen. Only then did she realize what an incredibly foolish thing she had just done.

"Dad, please let me explain..."

Nina began to speak in a panic, but Mr. Sinclair had already averted his gaze.

The Sinclair brothers heard the commotion in the hall as well. When they rushed over, they saw their father’s grim expression.

Landon Sinclair was closer and had a good idea of what was going on, so he moved through the crowd and walked toward the center of the hall.

While he was surprised that his little sister had ranked first in her grade, he wasn’t exactly shocked.

After all, he had been tutoring Chloe every day for the past month and had personally witnessed her progress step by step.

Judging by her current academic level, it wasn’t impossible for his little sister to take first place.

Besides, he trusted his little sister’s character. ’She wouldn’t so much as glance at the answers even if they were placed right in front of her. And yet, this so-called friend of hers has the gall to slander her so maliciously!’

Landon Sinclair’s heart was filled with rage, but his expression remained impassive. He simply asked, "Rhodes, do you believe Chloe is unworthy of first place, or do you believe that I am incapable of tutoring a first-place student?"

Yuna Rhodes had only heard that the Sinclair family’s second son was a physics Genius, but someone of her standing had never met him. She stared, stunned, at the man’s handsome and distinguished face before subconsciously blurting out, "She... She’s not worthy."

Sure enough, the expressions of all three Sinclair men darkened.

Mr. Rhodes had a sinking feeling. His heart filled with regret.

’What possessed me to bring such an imbecile to the banquet?’

Not only had he been humiliated, but now he had likely made an enemy of the Sinclair Family.

SLAP!

Without another word, Mr. Rhodes strode forward, grabbed Yuna Rhodes by the shoulder, and gave her a vicious slap across the face.

Yuna Rhodes clutched her stinging cheek, staring at her father in utter shock.

"Dad..."

"Get the hell home right now! Stop embarrassing me in public!"

After he finished, his gaze turned ingratiating. He apologized humbly, "Chloe, please, you’re classmates. Don’t hold it against this foolish girl."

"But..." Chloe wore a smile the entire time. Mr. Rhodes had previously thought she was an easy target, but now, her smile sent a chill down his spine.

He watched her pause for two seconds before she spoke again, her voice soft. "But I don’t know anyone named Yuna Rhodes."
