Chapter 227: Chapter 227: Little Sister, Actually, These Are All Our Family’s

A smile touched Landon Sinclair’s eyes. He raised an eyebrow, his gaze dark and sharp as he asked, "What’s the matter? Scared?"

Chloe’s heart sank. She had a bad feeling about this.

No one had mentioned the lab incident while she was in the hospital.

She had hoped everyone would just let it slide, but one look at Landon’s eyes told Chloe she was about to face the music.

She pouted, a hint of a fawning smile on her face as she wheedled, "Landon, you have to help me..."

Landon Sinclair’s expression remained neutral, but he couldn’t deny the thrill he felt hearing Chloe plead with him like this for the first time.

He gently covered the corner of his mouth and coughed lightly. "Dad’s just worried about you," he reminded her. "He and Ethan have been abroad and couldn’t get back. He’s only here to see you before he has to leave again."

Landon then added in all sincerity, "Just try not to worry him too much."

Chloe understood what Landon was trying to say. Her heart ached, and she let out a quiet "mhm."

Gabriel, sitting nearby, assumed Chloe was scared of their father’s anger and chimed in to comfort her. "Don’t be afraid. If he tries to beat you, I’ll take it for you. I guarantee Dad won’t touch a single... hair on your head."

As Gabriel said this, he caught his second brother’s death glare from the side and immediately lowered his head, focusing intently on his food.

That afternoon, Chloe was ordered to rest at home while her two brothers went to the airport to pick someone up.

Bored at home, she went to the small study and found a few books on nuclear physics to pass the time.

When she heard the doorbell ring, Chloe was surprised at how quickly time had flown.

Two hours had passed in what felt like the blink of an eye.

Chloe guessed who had returned, so she opened the door with trepidation.

Sure enough, she opened the door to see Mr. Sinclair standing in the middle of the doorway, carrying a large bag of gifts.

"Dad."

Chloe called out weakly, then secretly peeked at the three brothers standing behind Mr. Sinclair, blinking desperately at them for help.

Mr. Sinclair watched her and mercilessly called her out, "What are you making eyes at your brothers for? Do you think I can’t see you?"

Chloe’s face fell. Seeing Mr. Sinclair’s displeased expression, she quickly tried to change the subject. "Dad, why don’t you come in and sit down first? We can talk inside, alright?" ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com

Mr. Sinclair let out a cold snort but didn’t press his youngest daughter further.

Walking into the apartment, Mr. Sinclair looked around. He stopped scolding his daughter, his brows furrowing instead as his eyes filled with disgust. "How can anyone live in this place? I have a villa in the city center. You’ll move there tomorrow. And I’ll hire you a couple of maids and bodyguards while I’m at it."

Chloe was pouring a glass of water for Mr. Sinclair. At his words, her hand jerked, and she nearly spilled it.

"It’s close to the university, so I can sleep in a little longer every day."

"Then we’ll get a big villa near the university."

"That’s too expensive."

"I have money."

...

After that exchange, Chloe suddenly felt a pang of resentment toward the rich.

While she was running around trying to secure investments, her father could buy an entire villa on a whim.

Chloe said, "Let’s just forget about it. I’m perfectly happy here. Moving would be a hassle, not to mention I’d have to get used to a new place. Besides, I plan on moving back to Kennet to be with you later, so there’s no point in buying a house here."

For a moment, none of the men in the room said a word.

But it was Ethan, who hadn’t spoken a word since he walked in, who looked at Chloe, hesitated, and finally said, "Little sis, actually... all the villas around the university... they belong to our family."
