Chapter 20: Chapter 20: Why Don’t You Just Go Rob Someone?

The homeroom teacher, completely stunned, watched the two of them leave. When she saw the principal starting to turn, she quickly rushed after him.

"Principal, please let me explain! It wasn’t what it looked like just now. I can..."

"Enough!"

Seeing that the homeroom teacher had no intention of admitting her mistake and was instead making excuses, the principal’s face turned ashen with fury.

He’d never imagined that Kennet First High School could have a teacher like this.

"Let me ask you, what kind of teacher calls their own student ’scum’? What kind of teacher tells a student to go die?"

"What if a student with less emotional resilience had jumped off a building because of what you said? You would be inciting suicide! That’s a crime, do you understand?!" ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com

The principal was mindful of the many students still in the classroom, so he kept his voice down. But his face was flushed crimson all the way to his neck, a clear sign of his immense anger.

Finally, the principal looked at the homeroom teacher with deep disappointment, sighed, and said gravely, "I’ll arrange for a substitute. For the next few days, why don’t you just take some time off at home to rest."

With that, he hurried off to catch up with Landon Sinclair.

The homeroom teacher’s face was ashen. She stood frozen in the doorway, unsure of what to do.

Meanwhile, inside the classroom, Nina Sinclair had been startled by Landon Sinclair’s appearance. She kept her head down, her hand gripping her pen cap tightly.

CRACK.

The next moment, the pen cap shattered.

Landon Sinclair moved fast. In less than an hour, he had convinced (or rather, forced) the principal to arrange a class transfer for her.

On the way to her new classroom, Chloe Sinclair felt as if she were walking on air, not even realizing the smile that had graced her face.

But Landon Sinclair saw it all too clearly, and his heart ached.

He remembered the first time he’d seen his little sister smile, three months ago during a family dinner. Chloe’s smile had been so beautiful back then. But somewhere along the way, that smile had vanished, replaced by an increasingly volatile temper.

’Even I used to blame her for being unreasonable,’ he thought.

’But now I see it was our own neglect that caused all this.’

"Chloe, from now on, if anyone bullies you, you bully them right back. Dad and your brothers have your back, so don’t be afraid."

Arriving at the door of her new classroom, Landon Sinclair added worriedly.

This incident made him even more worried about Chloe being bullied at school.

"Yeah, I get it. I joined the school’s martial arts club recently. If anyone tries to bully me now, I’ll just beat them up myself."

A gentle smile spread across Landon’s face; he clearly didn’t take her words seriously.

The principal, who was standing nearby, broke out in a cold sweat. He called over the homeroom teacher of Class 7 and instructed, "Chloe is transferring from Class 1. Her academic foundation isn’t the strongest, so please have you and the other subject teachers give her some extra attention in class."

The homeroom teacher for Class 7 was named Kyle Stern. Due to an uneven distribution of teaching staff, he taught both Math and Physics.

He had already been briefed on Chloe Sinclair’s situation over the phone, so he simply nodded at the principal’s words. "I will."

Then, he turned his gaze to Chloe Sinclair and said, "Chloe, let’s head inside. Class is starting."

Chloe nodded, then turned back to say goodbye to Landon. "Second Brother, can you pick me up an hour later from now on? I want to stay for club activities." fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com

Landon naturally wanted Chloe to socialize more with her classmates, but he was also afraid she would be bullied. He felt deeply conflicted.

After a moment of thought, however, he simply said, "As long as you’re having fun."

Chloe’s eyes crinkled into a smile, the corners of her lips turning up. Then, she followed Kyle Stern into the classroom.

Landon didn’t leave the school until he saw Chloe settled at her desk in the new classroom.

Of course, he didn’t let the Class 1 homeroom teacher off easy before he left.

Just as the Class 1 homeroom teacher was returning to her office, a heavyset woman suddenly rushed at her. Without a word, the woman grabbed her by the hair and began slamming her head against the wall.

"You slut! How dare you seduce my husband! You love being the other woman so much, don’t you? Well, today I’m going to show you what happens to homewreckers!"

With that, there was a loud RIP as she tore off a piece of the homeroom teacher’s clothing.

"AHHH—!"

The Class 1 homeroom teacher shrieked, clutching desperately at her chest, unable to even form a word.

Fortunately, the students were all in class at the time, so there weren’t many spectators.

But that very night, a post appeared on the school’s online forum. The moment students clicked on it, the comment section exploded.

[BREAKING! Third-Year Class 1 Homeroom Teacher is a Homewrecker! [Image]]

The post explained that the Class 1 homeroom teacher was having an affair with a married man from the school. When the man’s wife found out, she’d shown up at the school with a whip.

The incident blew up. In a single night, the post amassed seven thousand comments, and soon, nearly every student and teacher in the school had heard about it.

[This is a teacher at our school?]

[Yeah, that’s the homeroom teacher for Third-Year Class 1. She’s actually a really strong teacher, even won the "Outstanding Municipal Teacher" award several years running. I never thought she’d be this kind of person behind the scenes.]

[Can’t believe she’s a homewrecker. She deserved to get beaten up!]

...

When Laura Rhodes saw the photos of the assault posted on the forum, she flew into a rage.

Although her face was pixelated, she was still easily recognizable.

She contacted the forum moderators and administrators, demanding they take down the post.

But what she got in response was a notice of termination.

Laura Rhodes panicked.

She immediately tried to call the principal, but the call wouldn’t go through. He had blocked her number.

She called her lover, only for a sharp-tongued woman to pick up the phone.

"Laura Rhodes, have you no shame? You still have the nerve to call my husband?! You just wait! I’m going to kill you!"

Terrified, Laura Rhodes immediately hung up.

As a last resort, she called Nina Sinclair.

Nina answered but claimed there was nothing she could do.

Panicked, Laura Rhodes demanded, "Didn’t you tell me that little bitch Chloe Sinclair was just an adopted daughter? Why does your family care so much about her?!"

Nina’s expression darkened, but she kept her voice deceptively weak and gentle. "Ms. Rhodes, please don’t panic. I’ll be sure to explain everything to my dad and brothers. For now, could you please just endure this for a little while?"

Laura Rhodes started to protest, but Nina spoke again.

"Chloe only just returned to the Sinclair family, but you also know that what you said today was awful. It’s only right for my second brother to be angry. Once he’s calmed down, I’ll put in a good word for you. How does that sound?"

Laura Rhodes had begun to suspect that Nina was just using her as a pawn, but listening to her tone now, she wasn’t so sure.

But the thought that she was now unemployed made her feel wronged. "But I’m out of money," she whined. "No school in the city will hire me now. I can’t survive without a job..."

Nina felt like she was choking. She was grinding her teeth in silent rage, but her voice remained incredibly gentle. "How much do you need, Ms. Rhodes? I can lend you some money."

"Two hundred thousand."

Nina froze. ’Why don’t you just go rob a bank?’ she thought furiously.

Her allowance had recently been cut. And while she had some investment funds that Mr. Sinclair had set up for her, the total amount wasn’t huge.

Two hundred thousand was nearly a tenth of her entire savings.

But she was desperate to keep Laura Rhodes placated, so she could only grit her teeth and agree. "Fine."

After completing the transfer, Nina stared at the two-hundred-thousand-dollar hole in her account. Her face twisted into a hateful mask. With a sudden CRASH, she swept the water glass from her desk onto the floor.

"Chloe Sinclair, I’ll make you regret this!"
