Chapter 332: Chapter 332: Mottled Bloodstains
How could Wu Sheng possibly not like it?!
"Of course I like it! This... How did you..."
He was so happy he started to stutter.
Su Li looked at him, her face tilted up smugly.
"Once you put this ring on, it means you’re taken."
’He’s mine now!’
Seeing the smug little look on Su Li’s face, Wu Sheng couldn’t resist pinching her cheek. "Fess up. When did you prepare this? Have you had wicked intentions for me for a while now?"
"Get away from me." Su Li slapped his hand away, then cleared her throat and put on a serious expression as she took out the ring box, which still held the woman’s ring.
"Here. Be a good boy and put it on me."
Wu Sheng opened the box. His eyes lit up the moment he saw the ring inside.
"It’s a matching set?"
"Mhm, one for me and one for you." Su Li ignored the heat rising in her face. "These are our engagement rings."
Wu Sheng looked at Su Li, whose face was beet red, yet she was trying to act calm as she explained. His heart completely melted.
He took out the ring and gently, carefully, slipped it onto Su Li’s hand.
"Alright, I should go now."
Seeing the ring was on, Su Li picked up her small wooden plank and turned to leave.
But as soon as she turned, Wu Sheng grabbed her. The next second, she fell into his familiar, warm embrace.
"Let me hold you for a bit."
Wu Sheng held Su Li, unwilling to let her go.
’If he could, he’d hold her like this all night.’
"This is against the rules, Su Li. How could you do something like this..."
Wu Sheng muttered, "You just don’t want me to leave. I was about to go, and you go and tempt me like this..."
"If you don’t want it, give it back," Su Li teased him.
"In your dreams. I’m going to wear this for the rest of my life."
Wu Sheng held Su Li tightly and wouldn’t let go. Su Li grew anxious. "Okay, okay, you really should go now."
’We’re right downstairs. Even if it’s not bustling, there are still quite a few people around. It would be so embarrassing if someone saw us.’
Wu Sheng knew what Su Li was worried about, so he reluctantly let go.
But just as he let go, he suddenly pulled Su Li back into a hug.
"No, I can’t let you go just like this. We haven’t had a goodbye kiss yet. You’re not allowed to leave..."
Su Li was exasperated. "Stop messing around."
Wu Sheng shook Su Li gently as he shook his head. "I won’t let go unless you promise to let me give you a kiss..."
As Wu Sheng was speaking, Su Li suddenly looked up, closed her eyes, and stood on her tiptoes to plant a quick kiss on his cheek.
Su Li pulled back instantly. "Is that good enough?"
After saying that, she clutched her little wooden plank, turned, and ran, her footsteps thumping up the stairs.
Leaving behind a completely dumbfounded Wu Sheng.
Wu Sheng stood there stunned for a long moment before he finally came to his senses. He gently touched the spot on his cheek where Su Li had just kissed him.
"I said to let *me* kiss *you*... Su Li..."
Wu Sheng suddenly balled his fists and let out a howl. "AWOOO... Hahaha..."
He jumped up and down a couple of times, clutching his chest.
"Su Li, you can’t do this! That’s against the rules... You broke the rules again!"
The sudden appearance of the rings, and now this unexpected kiss... these were things Wu Sheng didn’t even dare to dream of. And yet, Su Li just went and.....
"How could she be like this..."
Wu Sheng jumped a few more times, still unable to calm his excitement. Without another thought, he broke into a run.
He was so disoriented that he almost ran into a wall, and it took him a moment to find the right direction.
In his excitement, he completely forgot about his bicycle parked to the side, nor did he notice the strange sound coming from nearby.
A pair of eyes in the darkness watched Su Li kiss Wu Sheng. They watched as Wu Sheng grinned so foolishly he couldn’t see straight, even bumping into a wall as he walked. A madness gradually began to replace the light in those eyes.
Hearing Wu Sheng’s excited shouts, Su Li ran all the way up to the sixth floor in one breath.
She was panting, clutching at her heart which felt like it was about to leap out of her chest, as she hurriedly unlocked her door.
She opened the door, closed it, and then, clutching the small wooden plank, leaned against the door and let out a little shriek.
Thinking about her own impulsive actions, Su Li felt like her face was about to explode.
She remembered hearing Wu Sheng say he wanted to buy her a new ring. When she saw the jewelry store, she’d impulsively tricked him, dashed inside, and bought a matching pair of rings as fast as she could.
And then... then she’d even kissed Wu Sheng...
Thinking of that kiss just now, Su Li couldn’t help but cover her mouth and let out an exasperated cry.
"Su Li, you’re really going crazy..."
Her heart was pounding, THUMP THUMP THUMP, and simply wouldn’t stop.
Su Li hugged the wooden plank and buried herself in the sofa. Just as she was kicking her legs and squealing into the cushions, she heard a knock on the door.
Su Li shot up, hastily straightened her clothes and hair, spun around a couple of times, and finally went to open the door, still hugging the wooden plank.
"What is it? Did you forget something..."
As Su Li spoke, she looked up, only to find no one outside.
"Huh? Wu Sheng?"
Su Li called out, thought for a moment, and then suddenly looked behind the door. "Wu Sheng, stop messing around..."
Her words died in her throat when she saw that no one was behind the door either.
She suddenly felt that something was wrong. A chill ran down her spine. She was about to slam the door shut, but it was too late.
Following a muffled THUD, the door was slammed shut with a CLICK. Muffled, indistinct sounds came from inside the room, as if someone had covered Su Li’s mouth.
After a chaotic mix of curses and other noises, a stifled scream rang out, and then there was silence.
Meanwhile, Wu Sheng, who had excitedly run some distance away, suddenly felt that something wasn’t right.
"Huh? Where’s my bike?"
He slapped his forehead.
"How could I forget my bicycle..."
He bent over, hands on his knees, and caught his breath for a moment. Once his breathing evened out, he turned and headed back.
As he walked, he kept looking down at the ring on his hand.
Looking at the ring, then at his watch, Wu Sheng couldn’t stop smiling.
As Wu Sheng walked, he unconsciously broke into a run again, returning to the apartment building a few minutes later.
He saw his lone bicycle downstairs, then looked up at the floors above.
’I’ll just go up and see her one more time. Say one more thing before I go. Since I’m back here anyway...’
Wu Sheng happily made his decision and bounded up the stairs.
When he reached the sixth floor, Wu Sheng straightened his hair and knocked on the door.
"Su Li, it’s me."
He said as he knocked, "Let’s see each other one more time."
When he finished speaking and got no response, he took a closer look and suddenly realized the door was unlocked.
’Why didn’t she lock the door? That’s so dangerous.’
He threw the door open, saying, "Su Li, why didn’t you lock the door..."
Wu Sheng’s words caught in his throat and his expression changed drastically when he saw the scene inside.
The floor was spattered with blood, a jarring sight.
The small wooden plank that Su Li had been treasuring just moments before was shattered to pieces, and the two words "Marry Me" on it were now illegible.
Wu Sheng’s pupils contracted violently.
"Su Li? Su Li?"
He called out twice in a hoarse voice, but no one answered.
There was no sound of Su Li in the room.
Leaving behind a floor of blood and chaos, Su Li had vanished.
Less than ten minutes after she had parted from Wu Sheng.
"This joke isn’t funny at all."
Standing in the living room, Wu Sheng suddenly raised his hand and slapped himself across the face.
He desperately tried to fight the feeling of unreality and force himself to calm down.
"It’s only been a short time. Su Li must still be nearby... She has to be nearby..."
Wu Sheng’s gaze locked onto the blood drops on the floor by the doorway.
The drops of blood led from the door down the stairs.
Wu Sheng followed the trail of blood all the way downstairs.
When he reached the ground floor, the blood trail abruptly vanished.
Suddenly, a pair of feet appeared in his line of sight. Wu Sheng looked up and saw who it was.
The corner of his eye twitched violently.
"What are you doing here?"
