"You animals! You two animals!" Mrs. Tang shrieked when she came to her senses, starting to wail dramatically all over again. "You dare touch my grandson? I’ll kill you!"
Miao Fenghua shot Mrs. Tang a warning look, her smile not reaching her eyes. "Why are you talking like that, my dear in-law? We’re family. We’re supposed to help each other out. The Su family can’t even afford to celebrate the New Year. Can’t you spare some money for us? I haven’t been feeling well for a while now..."
As she spoke, she clutched her stomach and groaned. "Ow! Ouch, my stomach hurts. My old problem is acting up again, I need to go to the hospital for medicine. Su Li, our family is so poor we can’t make ends meet! Your brother still hasn’t found a wife! Please, save your mother!"
After her outburst, she ignored Mrs. Tang and walked straight over to the struggling Su Li. She pinched her a few times and said viciously, "Behave yourself! I’m telling you, you damn girl, if you don’t obediently come with me to get the money, I’ll really smash this little burden to death!"

Miao Fenghua impatiently cut her off. "Shut up! Still going on about crimes? Crime my ass! You think I’m scared? Get up, now! If I don’t get the money today, I’ll beat you to death, and I’ll beat this little burden to death!"
Miao Fenghua raised the club and swung it at Su Li again. Just as Su Li, unable to bear it any longer, was about to speak, a loud shout came from the doorway.
"Stop!"
Miao Fenghua’s club froze in mid-air.
Su Li looked up at the man in the doorway and exclaimed in surprise, "Fang Luo?"
"You audacious criminals! Drop your weapon!" Fang Luo glanced at Su Li before shouting at Miao Fenghua and Su Dan.
Miao Fenghua and Su Dan turned to look at Fang Luo. Seeing how young and fair-skinned he was, they immediately let down their guard and snapped impatiently, "Where did this pretty boy come from? Mind your own business and get lost!"
Miao Fenghua cursed under her breath, "Damn girl, you thought you could scare me? No way!"

"Nobody move! Get on the ground and put your hands on your head! Don’t blame me for what happens if you don’t listen."
At Fang Luo’s explosive shout, the stunned Miao Fenghua and Su Dan screamed in terror, "AHH!"
"Shut up! Get on your knees with your hands on your head, now!" Fang Luo commanded sternly, not daring to let his guard down for a second.
He had heard the commotion from a distance and sensed a dispute. After running a few steps closer, he had arrived just in time to hear Miao Fenghua and Su Dan’s threats.
’These people are just robbers and thieves! Home invasion, assault, kidnapping a hostage to extort money... This is outrageous!’
’So arrogant, so brazen! It’s completely intolerable!’
Su Li closed her eyes, finally wrenching her arms free from Su Dan and Miao Fenghua’s grasp. She let out a sigh of relief and stood to the side, still holding Little Tang Mo.

’Wasn’t Su Li just bluffing earlier? How could someone actually show up? Could it be that what she said was true?’
The thought terrified Su Dan so much he burst into tears. "Don’t arrest me! I don’t want to go to jail! I didn’t hit anyone, and I didn’t steal anything! Don’t arrest me! It was all my mom! My mom did all of it!"
Hearing this, Miao Fenghua seemed to freeze.
Fang Luo was also taken aback for a moment, but mostly he was relieved. He had been worried that he wouldn’t be able to control them by himself and that something might go wrong.
"Su Li, are you alright?" Fang Luo asked, looking her over from head to toe.
"I’m fine." Su Li shook her head, finally letting go of Little Tang Mo.
Fang Luo’s gaze returned to Miao Fenghua and Su Dan. "You two. On the ground, hands on your head."
Miao Fenghua and Su Dan trembled as they put their hands on their heads, their faces filled with terror.
Fang Luo cautiously approached, taking out a pair of handcuffs to restrain them. The moment Su Dan saw the cuffs, he was scared out of his wits. "No! No! Don’t cuff me!"
He scrambled backward, and a wet patch suddenly spread on the floor beneath him, followed by the acrid smell of urine—he had actually been scared so badly he lost control of his bladder.
Even Fang Luo, who had seen all kinds of criminals, was momentarily stunned, his face filled with contempt.
"Dan Dan, don’t be afraid. Mom will protect you." Miao Fenghua lunged forward to shield Su Dan. She looked at Su Li, her eyes a mixture of terror and alarm. "Su Li, hurry up and tell him we’re your mother and brother, not robbers! We don’t want to go to jail, we don’t want to go!"
She never could have imagined that Su Li wasn’t bluffing this time—that she’d actually have them arrested!
